browning tips

Howdy peeps, anyone help me out with this? I just noticed today that one of my plants is browning...the two bottom leaves are almost a copper colour, yet the four leaves on top are very green in comparisson. At first I thought it was because I spilled some soil on top of them when I transplanted, but it you look very closely, the top green leaves are showing little specks of brown on their tips :confused: anyone have an idea what's causing this? Could it be a deficiency of some sort, because I haven't started fertilizing my plants yet (they're only nine days old from sprout)

It looks like some kind of a disease,causing necrosis(death of the plant leaves) ,it could be a fungal problem,or a bacterial problem. I don't think it's good to grow them in those coke bottles either..did you make sure that you washed the bottles with a light chlorine solution before you planted in them ? Is there any clear plastic in the area of where the roots are ? You should make sure that light is not penetrating below the soil line. You should post these pics at overgrow.com and see what they have to say about it..like I advised spiltek,in another post this morning.

Thanks torog. I got off my lazy ass and posted this question on overgrow. I've come to the conclusion that I have a water and/or pH problem (not sure yet, because my pH testing strips are still in the mail), but I'm pretty positive it's a water issue because I've also been having poor germination results using the "soak in a cup overnight" method.
Also, I'll be sure not to use transparent containers anymore :o :p

You're welcome ! Would you do me a favor,and let me/us know,what they tell ya at overgrow ? Btw,I went to the swimming pool care section at WalMart to git my ph test strips and I also got me a Brita water pitcher to filter the water with and bring down the ph and chlorine,as well as the tds(total dissolved solids). Pur water pitchers,don't lower the ph,so don't go for one of those.

I find,that by starting your plants in a 16 or 20 oz, picnic plastic disposable cups,solid colors,that you can save alot on potting soil and overall expense,by finding out which plants are good first,before transplanting them into at least a 3 gallon pot-if not a 5 gallon pot. You want the plants to have enough room for their roots-so that they don't become root-bound.

the same happened t mine so i cut tyhe leaves off the bottom 2 all is green n healthy now.

You're lucky...I put that plant out of its misery a few days ago...it was going to die before my pH-up arrived :( BUT, my other three plants are doing super, and 3 out of the 5 seeds that I planted a day and a half ago have sprouted. The others should follow-suit here shortly :) I'm set
