I was wondering what do you guys usually do to make you stop thinking about smoking when you know you can't? I have to stop for a while and I'm pissed because it was apart of my daily routine but I have to do what I have to do and I really need some help keeping it off of my mind and possibly if it works I'll try to stay away from it until my b-day because I needed the break.

Best thing I can tell you is to get some exercise. Get that heart going and you will not think of weed at all. Only bad part is once your done exercising you will feel that you deserve to partake in the herb. Stay steadfast and keep with your convictions. It will pass, it always does. Good luck.

Basically, it boils down to the fact that you are bored and are used to filling your boredom with pot. Make a commitment and volunteer! Work at homeless shelter or soup kitchen or food bank; read stories at the public library; just grab a trash bag and start cleaning up your neighborhood or local park! There is SOMETHING that should be done and if you think about it for a bit, you will know what it is. Now get moving, boy-child!- Granny:stoned:

I'm now 4 weeks without having a cigarette! No nicotine in weed i know but its best to keep your mind busy and you will not think about weed as much. Sucking on hard candy helps too with the habit of having a joint/blunt hanging from your mouth.

Keep your mind busy on stuff too. When I run dry, I find that I start piddling around the house (no, not like whizzing). I like to work on projects that get me going physically and mentally ya know. Good luck. Peas.

Do what I did and move where you have no connections lol. I have'nt smoke in 5 months, its really not to bad after the first month. Its alot easier then quiting smoking cigs. I found eating or drinking a beer helps to get your mind off smoking herb, but thats probly why im gaining weight. But if you have to quit for awhile just do it, thats all I can say. Just like having to go to work you have to do it. Im sure this wont help you at all. Just stay positive and you will be fine. Good luck and I wish the best for you. And keep busy it helps big time.

I must say I spend alot less time playing video games now since I have'nt been smoking. Played alot of BF2 when I smoked and know I bearly play if at all. I think the weed made me want to play more, it was just so much more fun playing and bieng stoned.

first off if you really wanna quit for a while it's smart to get rid of all your dope.. aka give it to a trusted friend. If you have immediate access it wont help.

Yeah O...I was going to say..."Don't you do anything else besides smoke weed?"...Then Owl reminded me of this, which is so true.

We used to smoke a lot in HS, but a lot of times it was when we were playing basketball or some other activity. It's a shame it isn't summer right now...but either way...Get the fuck out of your house. I'm sure they got a gym near you or something. Get your friends together and play some ball...I get a much better high draining a 3 than from smoking. Get a few layers of clothes on and get some football games going. Anything physical helps...exercise of course, but I can't see that happening lol (prove me wrong).

On the weekends...go to some parties or friend's houses where there won't be any bud (hard, I know)...just have a few beers or whatever you like...just chill and socialize for once. Or go to the HS basketball games or whatever sporting event with your friends...you'll have a good time just being with your friends..and you won't even be thinking of weed if you're having a good time.

So the short the version of what I'm trying to say is be active physically...and try to stay away from being alone as much as possible. If you usually smoke after school...don't go home right away...go do something else. Then come home later and just go to bed. Try to be with other people (that aren't smoking obviously) during the times you routinely light up.

Hope this helps...hang in there kid, you'll be fine...actually I think this will be a positive experience for you (I know you think I'm crazy)...it may open your mind up to new things.

Get a hobby like sports or something involving art. Try some hallucinogenics.

First few days are the worst. After that it is cake.

I was dry for 7 months. It sucked big time. But after 3 days I was fine. Read a good book or learn something new.

In fact shortly I will be taking a month or so off from weed. Breaks are good. When you travel a lot they are necessary.

I have no doubt you can do it.

Orangeman-

I recently went on a month-long break for MY birthday (it was the best birthday EVER...)

I started painting a lot more. Doesn't matter if you're good or bad, it's fun as hell. I still posted on here, mostly kept to chit chat.

I'm smoking again after 30 days off, cold turkey. But now it's only twice a week. And I've never felt better. I had a gram of dank stuff in my room, and took a hearty whiff a few times a day to keep me going. I love the smell of some skunk. Stay away from people who will try to convince you to smoke... I have a sister who I toke up with at night a lot, so I had to say no. After the third day, it was pretty easy to pass up a nice glowing cherry from the bowl of my friend's bong. But yeah, the first 3 days are the "hardest" if it's even hard.

Good luck! And remember- tolerance is a bitch, so beat it!

there is no physical addiction so it is a mind occupying thing... I have not smoked in three days now so I am in a pickle like you... actually coming here is fun and relieves me as I am occupied in thought...

Great ideas "granny" lol The busier the mind, the better.
Community work is the best also. He can meet lots of people from both sides that way.
Finding a nursing home and visiting a person who hasn't had visitors in years is a great thing too. They'd be overjoyed at his company and he can learn from them at the same time. It's also a very nobel thing to do. Extra points in the big Book Of Life.:)
