Ok I thought I was on the rite path and decided to go with a 400w HPS. Then I did some more reading and heard its better to start your young ones with a Metal Halide light during veg and then switch to the HPS for the flowering.
Then I read this post and it only threw me off more pH Water - See More Buds (http://www.seemorebuds.com/ph/). From what I got from it, HPS is the way to go all the way?
So my question is, would it better to go with Metal Halide light for veg and then a HPS for flowering, or should I just use the HPS light for the whole grow.
Please let me hear your opinions, I would be much greatfull.

If you already got the HPS, just pick up some cool white flourescents for the first bit of the plant's life... the blue light is good for veg... get them really close... As they grow you can decide if you want to get a MH, or you could ADD the HPS for a fuller spectrum... but the HPS is a MUST for great results flowering.

My bad I posted the wrong link, anyways I have'nt purchased the HPS yet but I seen a light setup that can use both MH and HPS, Its was more money but seemed worth it if the MH light would come in handy.

if you can get a switchable ballast you just cant lose, use both is cost isnt a factor
Or get a digital ballast and use either without having to switch anything but the bulbs.

Dual Spectrum - use MH and HPS together in all stages if possible.
The plants have never been happier

Yeah, I'm rockin 350w of MH and 8 100w CFL's into the 5th week of veggin, and I just LST'd and FIMmed em and they couldn't be happier. I wish I could get away with just using the MH for flower but it seems like that isn't the generally accepted thing to do...

You can both grow and flower using HPS. You should not use MH for flowering. Wrong light spectrum. So use HPS for the wholw grow and yr. plants will be happy. If you want to spend more money then get a mixed HPS/MH rig from Sunlight supplies. Its that simple.

alot of people think MH is bad for flower but the truth is the opposite, MH bulbs will give you way better potent buds but you will lose up to 20% of your final wieght while hps gives you quanity but not that quality of MH, i still believe hps is a better flower bulb but MH works awesome too

i myself use just hps w/ no probs.or adverse affects .
i use EYE hortilux brand bulbs so there is increased blue/green spectrum during the veg. stage .

I would def. reccomend using both bulbs though I've read arguments that you can use the HPS the entire way through, and also heard arguments that you can use a MH the whole way through... it's pretty common practice to buy both and that's what I personally reccomend.
