man I can't believe this. First they put a rape victim in jail and now cnn is reporting cops not letting a women who was pregnant and bleeding go to the hospital for 9 hours and the baby died. She asked 21 times and the cop said "how is that my problem". This just makes me so mad.

i was just reading this in the news....she definately has some legal issues going on, but they shouldnt have done that....i would bet race and all that plays a part as well...america will never change...this has begun to become the norm of behaviour and actions of the police and other public safety offices as opposed to the random happening....sad....

Yeah I heard the story of the rape victim.. they wouldn't let her take her 2nd dose of emergency contraception.. and it's coming out that the police holding her refused to approve it as a medication on MORAL grounds!!! How is it 'moral', even if you are anti-abortion, to refuse the day after pill to a RAPE victim?
WOW is all I can say.

The norm???? America will never change???? I think you are off base on this one princess. I believe it's the opposite.
Over the last 5-10 years people are finally beginning to realize in order to make change you have to hit the police, as well as others who are in "charge", where it hurts. Hit them in the wallet. Money talks.
Civil suits, which are easier to win than criminal cases, have caused public officials to take notice. Laws have been passed addressing attacks and mistreatment based on race. Will things like this ever go away? Probably not. But as long as we have lawyers who want to make a buck for themselves as well as their clients I think it's safe to say America is changing in this aspect.
take care princess
Just watched the video and the lady is like super nice a polite the entire time. I hope both of those officers "Protecting and Serving" the community so well get what they should! FIRED. F them.

Oh. My. God.
I am so sick and tired of crap like this. And the fact that these abuses are caught on tape doesn't seem to be changing anything, except that now perhaps more people are becoming aware of the things that some people have been saying all along: the system is corrupt, biased, and doesn't work. Or rather, it only works for some people, and I think we all know who they are. We definitely know who they aren't...they aren't women or minorities.

This incident drove me crazy. Apparently, freedom of religion only extends to pro-life people. Pharmacists are actually allowed to refuse to dispense emergency contraception, and regular contraception, if it conflicts with their religious beliefs. So, in the process of protecting someone's freedom of religion, other people's religious and civil liberties get stomped into the mud. Sickening.

The whole legal system is just one big mess of papers, reports, and bullshit. Cops lying out their ass and people who got money get away. Thats how it is, thats how its been, and thats probably how its going to be for a long time.

oh man Officers suspended in case of woman who miscarried - CNN.com (http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/02/02/police.miscarriage.ap/index.html) this happened last year and the cops were only suspended yesterday after the tape of it came out. what really just blows me away is that one of the cops was a woman. I could kind of see a male maybe not understanding how bad the situation was, but a woman?

Suspended WITH PAY? are you kidding me?

Niiice. I wonder if I can get a paid vacation for violating someone's civil liberties and contributing to the death of a fetus? Where are the rampant pro-lifers when you need them? They should jump all over this one.

Explain to me how taking a pill is a civil liberty?
And all I see is persecution of these cops, you gota look at it from the cops point of view, cops have seen and heard everything, and they were probbaly thinking this woman was saying this stuff to get out of trouble.

do not take this as lawenforment had the right to do this, this women was in dire need of medical attention ever one can abouvously see that, and police have successfully killed an unborn child, im sure many lawyers have already jumped on this and have appeals in court. This is not something any officer should do or even think about, when a man is shot and arrested he is brought to the E.R. before anything, if a person asks for medical attention, it is in the civil rights to request medical attention, it was a life and death situation that should have not been taken lightly in any manner, and i hope i garantee that this entire police station goes through new management. these "officers" are supposed to server and protect us above anything, even if you are a criminal, it does not matter what they say, they took an oath.

First of all, proper medical care for a RAPE victim was DENIED. If you had taken the time to find out the backstory, you would have known that the woman in question was taking the pigs to the scene where she was raped. In the process of the investigation, they found out she had a warrant, and put her in jail.
You know what? I'm not going to pursue this with you. Never mind. I refuse to have a battle of wits with an unarmed person.:S4:

I did a little research on you. It appears you are anti-cannabis, and pro-law enforcement. I can only assume then that you are a narc, and/or a snitch in addition to being a collossal asshole.
I'm glad I have this information, so that I won't waste valuable time debating with a jizzmopper such as yourself. If I see you on a thread, I'll know just to click the "back" button on my browser.
To everyone else, my apologies for thread jacking. Please continue your discussion.

Oh my god, this pissed me off so bad. Its so simple, cops have too much power so they get like this. Has anyone ever heard about the stanford prison experiment? Check this out and you will see why so many cops are fuckin PIGS!! We should not have cops driving around like the damn gestapo in this country. We really need to put the power back in the hands of the people somehow before its too late and we are the fascist states of america...
