Hi there- I imagine you are dealing with a funeral now and I remember how the funeral for my friend devastated me. I cried for hours. The there were times I felt strangely flat. I told God he was a bastard, and broke down sobbing in more than one AA meeting (I was a few months sober when this happened, so I was fortunate to have people willing to listen to me wail).
So if you feel a little out of control, don't worry. Or your soul may take another way to respond - some people have told me they got super busy and just kind of disconnected. But it's all normal during a time that feels anything but normal.
You were given a dear friend- a real gift. She followed her path, and though it was the path of destruction, we know every human has that choice. We also never get to choose how long loved ones are around, and no matter how long it is never long enough. It's so hard to be human!!
The wonderful thing is that you loved. I think love and loss are bound together and one way to eventually get through the loss is to concentrate on the love. At first though, it is all about the terrible loss, and my heart goes out to you as you struggle through that stage. I started thinking about you and so I had to say hello, in case you checked in.
I'll be sending you good old school comfort vibes today:giveflower:

One Love!

In times like these, you have to remember love, and not anguish.

Bluecat, I wish you all the best, and to finish the dream that you and your friend sought.
