I don't know what to even say about this... I mean it's good that they're protecting us like this, but even so, I think the whole thing was a little over the top. I mean, it was an advertisement campaign for a cartoon show. I really can't comment though, because I haven't seen one of them up close, only from distances in the pictures. I guess they look sort of suspicious? Then again, I haven't seen bombs that look like that. So really, I have no idea what to think about this situation, lol.

what gets me is that they were apparently there for weeks with no problem...

Yeah 10 other cities...but now Turner is probably going to have to pay the $750,000 that it cost the city to bring everybody in.

Man it sucked today.. And having all those cops in town pissed me off! And the city wants them to pay for the expense of it all? 9/10 other cities had no problems with it. Lets all go some some good Moonijuana!

They shouldn't have to pay shit. Some 8 year old probably was sitting down at dinner and said something like, "Do you really think terrorists would be such big fans of Aqua Teen to use bomb mooninites?"

Good Job Boston. I will be highly pissed if anyone gets in trouble for this. Thank you America for scaring everyone so bad they are afraid of 2D aliens.

I just logged on to talk about this very thing. I'm a HUGE [as] devotee, and it makes me want to fucking weep for the future of this country if people have gotten so out of touch that they think a picture of a frigging Mooninite is a "terrorist" device.

One woman who phoned the Howie Carr Show and identified herself as an American soldier called the stunt "network- sponsored terrorism". Another said her husband lost income because he was unable to complete his delivery route.

The Radio Equalizer: Brian Maloney (http://radioequalizer.blogspot.com/)

WTF?!?!? Maybe if people expanded their horizons beyond FOX News and American Idol, they wouldn't pee their pants so quickly. I love the way the American public becomes so fixated on bullshit that they are blind to the things that their own government subjects them to. It is this very kind of lemming behavior that contributes to a slow but sure erosion of civil rights. We just aren't paying attention to the right things. Nothing keeps people in line like irrational, misplaced fear. Pfft...

Anyways it is over the top but, people are too scared.

LMMFAO

I was wondering what that was about last night. After every commercial, adult swim had this big long speech about apologizing for something or another. I thought it was a joke. People need to lighten up. "Ohh no the mooninites will get us"

Hahaha...the two guy's who planted the 'things' around the city just got up to the podium to make their 'official statement'. The dude's like..."We are here to talk about what everybody must be thinking about right now. We take this very seriously. We want to discuss the hairstyles of the 60s and 70s." LOL!....then he goes on about how his dreads are cool and shit. It was on like every channel...but after like 5 minutes...all the channels were like "Ummm...yeah...soo...umm...we are going to go to weather now, because they obvious think this is a joking matter."

It was funny...some reporter was like..."Do you think you should face any consequences for your actions"...the dude's like..."Yeah my dreads are pretty cool aren't they?" The news would go back for a moment to 'see if they were talking about anything relevant'...nope...still talking about hair lol. The whole time they kept the straightest possible face too...then they showed them like skipping around the court room. Haha...smart lawyer they got. He said to the reporters..if you don't want to hear what they have to say then simply don't listen and leave.

Menino (mayor of Beantown) said the real punishment should go against Turner or whatever...not "those two gophers" lol.

Ugh...

On one hand, BRILLIANT marketing... all the attention you could ever want, and more... even bad publicity is good publicity.
On the other hand, a touch irresponsible... or anyway that's what I thought until I saw the pictures of the little thingys... now I'm trying to figure out how anyone decided they were bombs in the first place!

My take on it?

Simple!

Patriots are out of Super Bowl contention...

Boston PD is disappointed they aren't going to have all sorts of riots and other excitement...

the Red Sox let them down this year too!!!...

not much to do down at the station and even Dunkin Donuts are getting a bit stale.

What to do,.... what to do....

east coast woot woot! I didn't even know that athf was the cause untill this morning, when my buddy called, and said "nice show ya got there fry man, you trying to kill us all or somthing." in carl's voice. I turned on the news and got the whole story.

BUT what if it was the opposit situation. A bomb made up to look like a moonite character, And they didn't do squat. We could have been looking at a very different news breif this morning. I'm glad it turned out this way.

Yes you're so friggin' correct that it angers me. Just like if the Celt's didn't have all their injuries (2-19 without Pierce!!)...they wouldn't be doing as bad as they are...who knows, maybe even a division leader. And if the Pats didn't have any injuries...LOL!!!! Well...even if they played F--- football a few weeks ago, we still wouldn't be talking about the Colts this week.

What about you?

Oh gawd... Those guys at the press conference... On Fox News (my dad watches it) was completely hilarious. And the funnier thing is, the reporters kept asking questions like morons, and the pair kept deferring them with hair answers. If I was that guy representing them on their left, I would have been laughing my ass off. The guy on the right, without the dreads, was really hot.

All in all? This is completely ridiculous... I have a feeling this won't calm down for a while. And it shouldn't... Boston's allegations are ri-fucking-diculous.

Naw, I live in So Cal now.
But when I got out of the Army awhile back I lived in Boston for a year. Live in Melrose, then Brookline, then Roxbury. Rode the T everyday and sold Boston Hot Pretzels in Downtown Crossing and in tthe Common. I used to deliver pretzels to Fenway during the day when it was empty and they would let me walk around wherever I wanted.

MacWQ33
02-01-2007, 07:51 PM
So Cal...nice nice. What made ya move out there...or you originally from the west coast? Yeah I had to do the T everyday last year for school in town...got off right after DC (Park). As for the Common...pretty interesting place huh? I've yet to get to the annual Hemp Fest..maybe this year. I love the Public Gardens next store..lovely place. I love being in the city on a nice summer day...just filled with life....and beautiful women lol.

I ended up out here after the Marines. Socal is great for the weather.
I had a great time when I lived there. I was pretty much high every day. I had a friend that I worked with that lived in Everett and I would go over his house everyday and juggle and do bong hits. He is the one that taught me how to juggle. Working as a vendor downtown was GREAT! I would juggle, sell pretzels and make 120$ cash in $1 bills everyday so I was never out of money.

Lets see....
Red line. Lets test my memory...
towards Braintree or Ashbury?
I wont try to guess the stop for security reasons. Just like I dont want nobody to know my exit off the freeway. Ya kknow

MacWQ33
02-01-2007, 08:02 PM
Yeah doesn't sound too bad at all...

LOL. Shit, that was 17 years ago. So, not too bad. I was there before the start of the Big Dig.

The reason I moved to Boston though was to play lacrosse at UMass.

Good thing I edited after I saw you edited.

Haha...17 years ago...and they're still Diggin strong...I'll probably never see the end of it.

Yeah you were right about the stop anyway...and I also went to that school for a year...but one of the other campuses about an hour away (not the one 2 hours away lol).

Ya think!

Hey Mac I'm from Lexington originally.. moved west of 495 when I was little.. still kicking around... good to see some beaners representing. Hey... I got in this huge fight a couple weeks ago about that SAME game with my friend who claimed it was a great game but UGH I've been to high school games better than that... I had to turn it off it was making me so angry!

So are any of you old enough to remember the blizzard of '78?

LOL...I'm not a blizzard baby, but my mom and all my aunts and uncles were...I've seen many pictures. Crazy crazy stuff. I wish I coulda seen it with my own eyes.

And if you're talking about the Pats game...ehhh...ugly second half. That's where we needed...ummm...I dunno...maybe our ENTIRE STARTING secondary (except Asante who did his job) that was out of commission lol! It's tough with injuries...especially at those positions against such a deadly passing team.

Yeah actually those little magnetic hideakey boxes that they always stick under bridges for geocaching... I wondered about that!
I like the caches that are buried under leaves in a clear plastic mayonnaise jar and you can see it's just full of knickknacks and shit.

That is cool you know. I usually dont find the urban caches so much. I like the ones farther up the mountain and they are usually ammo cans. They hold up well and you know that the bomb squd will not be dispatched. If we do hide one urban the camo is usually so good that no one will discover it. It looks as if it should be there.

Blizzard of '78. I was living in Cincinnati at the time. Age 10. But I remember it from there. No school for 5 days. :)

And IMO, he is out to destroy me, and people like me. Everytime that motherfucker and his cronies cut funding for arts programs, urban renewal, and music, everytime he makes a health care cut, or pushes one of his so called "Homeland Security" agendas that make it okay to profile me because I'm a person of color, everytime a woman is denied the morning after pill, and daycare funding is cut, he's putting another nail in the coffin. It's slow genocide. Since they can't just flat out kill the indigent without causing a stir, they'll starve us out economically.

I love it how on the report, the woman reporting the story spoke as if they were actually bombs. It was so obvious they were fucking toys, anyone with binoculars(sp?) can see that. I guess they thought it would be a good distraction from anything important in the world. If people in Boston are really upset over this they really need to look at themselves and slap them. Have a sense of humor, don't let false fear run you.

And as for guerilla advertising? I seriously doubt tiny ass cheap lite brites in 10 cities is what they referred to as guerilla advertising. "Placing advertisements all over the place". Think about all those fucking mcdonalds and dunkin donute commercials you hear a day. Wouldnt be surprised if it was over 100.
