The Debate.

i've debated this over many beers in many bars with many sports fans. now its time for cann.com to debate this. Who? in your opinion are the toughest players in sports. please try to keep this limited to the above choices, and please, give reasoning for your choice.


who's tougher ? i think hockey players are the toughest players in all of sports for a few reasons. the first and foremost would be the schedule. hockey players play an 82 game regular season. thats not counting the playoffs in which it takes 16 wins to raise the cup. secondly the speed of the game. hockey players arent as big as football players, but they're moving a hell of a lot faster when they get hit. also , when you get hit by the football it can't hurt nearly as much as a 16 oz peice of frozen rubber. and that little bugger can hum. i watched a game tonight were chara ripped a slap shot that hit a buffalo player in the helmet, chara has the fastest slapshot in the NHL at 100+ mph. this guy layed down in front of it and it dented his helmet. these are just a few reasons...i'll give more to counter!

i think football and hockey are very close...but like u said...the speeds we get hit at on that ice...damn it hurts.

all the other choices cant even compare to football and hockey....i mean basketball a person flips a dick for having his hand touched. baseball....yeah some cool looking slide hits but nothing special...soccer, u get some kickers...nothing special so yeah.

go hockey.

EDIT: i forgot about lacrosse...i know its not one of the choices but i think it should be...itd come in third in my book.

i think that playing hockey makes you realize the skill level and toughness involved.

in britain we play something called rugby make football and ice hockey players look like fags.no seriously theese guys are tough especially rugby league players.just ask an australian

i will have to agree with bud bud ding ding on this one, i played rugby for my town for four years, its deffinatly a tougher sport, and we aren't all padded up either

dont be dissing hockey. :D u need to be 1 tuff mother fucker to play that sport. but hey dont get me wrong i know how rugby is. iv played it. and it should be in the poll along wit lacrosse. u gots to have balls to play them kinda sports. as for baseball well really when does anyone get hurt in that game,? maybe if they dont catch the ball and hits him in the face? hahaha and well soccer dont get me goin on that panzey sport. i know ya gotta be an athlete to play that game since u do play teh whole game and well those games arnt short either but IMO soccer isnt at all a tuff sport. and well basketball is full of cry babies. remember this is my opinion so dont flame me for it. but do so if u want to lol. when i see a basketball player sit onut cause he has a hang nail makes me jus wanna bust a gut. cause hockey players play thro anything. example: Steve Yzerman played last years playoffs with a borken leg. was that last year? d\ont remember.

well he cant edit the poll now but yeah rugby is insane...we have highschool rugby at my school.

i wouldnt exactly say rugby makes football and hockey players look like FAGS but yeah i guess rugby would have more injuries seeing how theres no pads.

yeah man i watch american football and fook me the HITS they take is insane soccer players get bad injuries but usally caused by tripping over the grass.but i say american football or rugby is defo the toughest no questions.:eek:
