View Full Version : Did I start my 12/12 to early?

MULLETMAN

I have a total of 15 plants. Sex is obviously yet to be determined since I started them from seed. The five bigger plants are almost 30 days old while the little guys are only about two weeks. The plants have all been under 12/12 since
1/18/07. Are these plants going to yield anything with this early of a flower.

Lighting-270 watt hps

vent -100cfm squirrel hooked to can filter exausts out of closet on 24/7
-400cfm squirrel rigged to exaust hot air from lamp

Medium- soil ocean forest w perlte

Temps - around 80 w light on low 70's lights off

What do you think? This is my first attempt. I know the pics are not great will try to get new ones:jointsmile: [attachment=o116108]

those plants are at 30days tonight?

they seem really small maybe your light is far away?

they look good otherwise but should be 3 times that size.

12/12 from seed works but yield will be much less than if vegged for 15 days.

I don't think much will come from those plants, best flowering hieght for when I grow is at least 13inches-18inches.

Hey Mullet MAN..

usually you want to wait until a plant has at least 4 nodes before you flower...

unless you are flowering ROOTED CLONES under HID lighting... then you can flower as soon as you see roots...

It will be very important that you keep the plants very healthy since you are flowering so early..

make sure you water correctly and pH you water...

I look forward to following your FLOWERING period..

:)
cheers

maybe this is a little better example of what I'm workin with.
Just a close up of a couple of the bigger ones. They are maybe between 6-10 inches tall. As you can see I've done some re-potting. None the less the plants are still small. Thanks for any replies as it all helps.

Just thought Ide show some more pics

Does anyone got any suggs I would greatly appreciate, and thinking of upgrading to air cooled 400 watt hps but a little worried about cooilin that suckr in the 5x2x8 closet. Right now using a 250 watter w/built in ballast. Do you think the 400 air cooled remote ballast would be as ezzee to cool as the 250 w built in ballast? Any suggestions are welcomed. Oh yeah and I think I got some girls and the younger plants are almost as big as the older ones hard to tell a difference any more Sweet. :rastasmoke:

High times says if grown from seed plants should be at least 6 weeks old before flowering

They look good to me. As soon as there mature enough I think you will start to see flowering.

Your plants look ok, however, I think they are not getting enough light. If you have the means, definitely get a 400w. With the fans and setup you have, temps should not be an issue. Move your current light closer and keep with your current schedule. I don't think you are going to satisfied with your yield. Next time, try starting them on an 18/6 or 24 hour light schedule, keeping your light as close as you can without harming them. Good luck.

Say free venice theres already a couple of them that have shown sex, so far no males that I can see but maybe 3 to 5 females. Oh yeah, not enough light? They seem to be doing all right and some have stretched like mmadd while others stayed bushier than shit. Huhh and thanks for yalls replies

im intrested to see what they will yield.. i think you should definitly upgrade to the 400 w.. ill be watching this one

Usually the males show first so maybe your in luck. But the males also grow a little faster, so be careful.

Hows it growin? These are the most up to date I got. Just took em an hour ago. Heard a little talk about puttin a 400 in there so figured why the hell not. Bought air cooled 400 watter w/ 150 cfm fan and hortilux bulb from a local. Payed 200 bucks for all the shit and seems to work fine. Hope its worth the bucks!!! Cooling the 400 watter is easier than coolin that hugulug 250 that i's used to run. Plants have been under the new light for like 4 days now. Showing flower in 13 outta 15 so far so i'm pretty dam happy. Gave em a dose of pure blend last night and i think i'm gonna get some flower nuts for the little ones. Thinking of usin pure blend soil. Heard it's not 100% organic but what do ya do. Flowers are startin to form, still really small but lookin pretty good. Got a better fan for circulation in there now. It's much quiter even though its like a 16in stand fan. Cool though anybody got any comments, wanna here yalls opinions. Respec:cool:

Oh yah and I took out my wannabe veg space in the closet and just figured i'd dedicate it to the flower

MULLETMAN
02-17-2007, 09:12 AM
Gave the females a full dose of botanicare cal mag+ and pure blend bloom. Think the two not showing sex are females. If so I'll have 15 females. The plants are still pretty small but just curious how 15 plants are gonna do under 1 400 watter. Still seem to be puttin on a little veg growth and starting to show lot o bud growth. Buds are still very small but just hoping they will start filling in. The buds are just comin from nodes and tops. Figured I'd try the nuts just to see how the
plants respond to it. That shits expensive but fuck it, hoping itll be worth it. Want to just finish out this grow and find a new place to do it thats better than an apt. Little concerned
about smell but maybe I can figure it out. Anybody use Botanicares shit or the cal mag. Experience with ocean forest? Experience with 400's? I'll try to get more picks in say a week or so. Probably sooner cuss I's a little excited.

flowering 15 plants is alot for a 400 curious as to how big the closet or space is as they dont seem that crowded, suspect you are probably well below the recomended 50 watts per sq ft.
and your light looks like it could be alot closer but pictures can be deceiving would probably lower it as much as you can an air cooled 400 can usually be set about 6 inches above the tops but do the hand test you may not be able to get it that close would expect somewhere between 6-10 inches, this is important during flowering as lights lose half their intensiity for every foot the light has to travel to the plants and ive noticed atleast one other person point this out to you already in this thread.

MULLETMAN
02-24-2007, 04:43 PM
Plants seem to be doing fine. Seems as if 15 plants under a 400 watter is a bit excessive though. Thinking about hexxing three or four but it's hard to tell which ones suck the baddest.
Nonetheless they are starting to swing into full flower even though they do not all seem to be at the same stage. The tallest plants have grown within inches of the 400 without ill effects as best I can tell. I'm tryin to keep the light as close as I can to keep em good and short but some wanna still stretch. I wanna take those plants outta there cuss I think they are gonna suffocate themselves a little much if its not done. Anyway the close ups are of the most mature plants while others are just showing hairs. All and all things are lookin good though, been hittin em up every watering with cal mag+ and pro bloom soil. Plants seem to be takin it well.
Respec,

Just a little update on the progress. Still feeding at every water bot. pro soil and cal mag+. Having to water about every other day plants are drinkin but I guess thats good. Starting to knot up a little bit and looks like some are well ahead of others as far as maturity and time left to go. Still under the 400, temps stayin in the mid to high 70's w light six inches or less from tops. Smell is not to bad yet. I'm really excited and looking forward to these things grow. Been fun so far and learned alot. They are in two gallon pots and I'm gonna take em in those all the way. They are thirsty plants, let em all dry a out a little to much the other day, kinda caught me by surprise. Leafs were drooping and i thought did i over fert or water, turned out dryer than hell caused it. Thanks

check em out. Figured why the hell not post some new pics.
Update:
Watered w/ my nutes two days ago. Not quite dry enough to be soaked again. Temps air staying nice, keeping the door closed and letting the ventilation do the rest. Showing nice bud growth and the stretching has pretty much stopped and I'm glad. Smell is not to bad, carbon is doing its job, only concern is dirty air coming through the air cooled vent since it sucks its air from the grow space. Just figured I'd let y'all see whats goin on and happy growth. boo ya casha.

Whats up yall. Got kinda ancy an figured why not post some digs. Just raised the light a little, about 10 inches above the smallest female. Things are lookin pretty good. Finally got the air cooled light ducting its air from outside the room, no more pullin stinky air from the room. Felt it needed to be done for stinch reason. Other than that hopefully everything seems to be going green. somewhere around 5 weeks into flower give or take a few days. So hey anyway want to post pics just not sure how to in quick reply mode.

Coming right along, looks good. As far as the crowding of the room goes, why not use that old 250w in a different location to get 3-4 out of your bigger room, just a thought.

MULLETMAN
03-13-2007, 05:37 PM
Dude feel you, wish I could use the 250 if it wasn't for space issues. There is room in the clos. for it, but I would only use another light if it were air cooled. Kinda wish I had a light rail in there just buzz it back and forth, back and forth. But anyway to help the crowding issue a bit I raised the light a tad to give it a larger footprint and spread out the plants.

Whats happening guys, just thought it was time to show some new digs. Believe it or not what your seeing is 12 ladies under a 400 watter between week 5 or 6 of flower. Figure around 2 or 3 weeks to go. Still using botanicare pure blend bloom. Stuff seems to be workin just fine. Hope yall enjoy the pics, want some input as to how much longer till harv time. Very excited and everything seems to be going smoothly. Kinda starting to wish I had started a veg room for some clones but ah hell guess its to late now. This is my first grow and not planning another as of now. I mean shit the A/C's more or less broke anyhow. Nonetheless some of this shit is startin to smell pretty nifty when disturbed by me. Nonetheless dont have a whole hell of alot more to say other than good luck to all of ya. Let me know what you guys think, its my first indoor so not an expert on how this will all pan out. Thanks.

Wow...very nice plants there, sir. 12 under a 400w HPS and they all look nice and fat. Good job, Mulletman.

First few pics...I could've sworn I only saw 11 plants, but then I found the 12th hiding back around the corner in one of the pics of the 2nd group. Kudos. Looking forward to harvest pics and dried weight stats.

Got a hermie. She was a beauty though, kinda dissapointed.
Anyone have any ideas? Considering pulling all the bananas or puttin the hex on it. Suggestions would be great. Not afraid to chop it if need be, but the girls only about six weeks into flower, has yet to put on her d cups. Waiting to hear some responses!!!!!!!!

Hope yall can see the little nanners, maybe five spots total.

Well green frog, now only have eleven plants. Chopped the hermie. Kinda hated to do it but the bananas freaked me out a bit.

03-27-2007, 05:38 AM
Had another hermie, chopped it. Kinda sucks cuss she was one of the nicest in there. Other than that down to ten plants. Really enjoy having the extra room, makes it much easier to put under the light. Giving them strait water from here on out. Not sure but not alot of hairs changing colors yet, wondering if its cuss they still need alot more time or high dark time temps are the cause. Two of them started to have leaves curling up. Not sure what it is to blame but not to worried about it. Thinking at least another week or so before the chop.

whisky, whats up dude. Think your right, my night time temps are usually around 75 to 80 degrees. Think this could have something to do with the lack of color change. Gonna go get a microscope and start checkin the trichs. From what everybody says, especially on here thats a good way to make sure they are at there peak. Ride on Man!!!!

dont quote me on this but, if it was 6 weeks into flower, and that one does look pretty damn mature....would it have even mattered that it was hermie at that point? No offense, im wondering bc i have a hermie myself and is about 27 days behind that one. If mine comes out lookin that good i dont think i would chop it, the male flowers already would have polinated correct? Im so high i hope this comes out somewhat alright....

Awesome grow! A give you a 10 on the mullitude scale! I think 10 plants under a 400 is a perfectly good number! What size pots are those in? Looks like you are gonna get some good yield off those puppies. What strain are those anyway?

Not sure what will happen if they pollinated the crop, just hopin they dont cause to much damage ont op o bringin em down early. Tomashino, these girls had one transplant into two gallon pots near the first of february. Still seem to have root room as these girls are small. Oh yeah and strains a bit of an unknown to me, like to call them efficient seed. I dont know nothin. Peace!!

wow, cool beans mullet; this is encouraging. quite an adaptable plant! you're definitely making me consider going with a 400w hps myself, though i'm concerned about the electric costs when also have a 18hr flourescent flowering room going at the same time.

i'm thinking 250w for me to flower, and most likely first time around that will only be one female or two, then perhaps 4 clones under a 250w, which is pretty low, but hummm...

i'm not a heavy smoker , so how much do i want to harvest? :) good pics; it's cool to see people succeeding with totally different strategies, you can pretty much through away the rule book and still get some bud :)

YOYOYOOYOY

I think some of the trics on my bud are going cloudy right now 49 days in.

This is the bud I used to examine which actually fully mature with white pistils still but getting close. The buds closer to the top are going to be farther alone by this general logic.

[attachment=o129601]

I radically adjusted my lighting setup with my CFL's to promote the 2ndary growth. It will be very intresting to see what happens to the lower buds I took a 42w 3000k CFL bulb and put it were I had a 26w 6500k bulb, which I put into the top of the canopey.

Wondering how much damage they could do this late in flowering around day 60 trichs are clear to cloudy with one or two plants showing a very small amount of amber. Anybody got any suggestions on the hermies. Should I keep em in there to finish em out and risk pollinating the crop or pull em now as they already got mostly cloudy trichs. Just kinda wanted to pull em all at once. I'll post some pics of the hermies and the other girls later. Mulletman.
