I decided it was about time I experience the wonders of a homemade vaporizer. I'm about to go try it out in a couple minutes. Apologies for the terrible quality of the pics...the only camera I have access to sucks.

This is my first time with a vaporizer. The first thing I noticed was how pure the high was/is. No lie, I felt this shit kicking in after the first hit. It was slow pace early on, but once I was finished; baked as hell. Which is now. Woo.

So yes. If you've got some time to kill, why not make one of these? They're simple, and work great.

Don't worry, the bulb is actually pretty clean. That's just how the glass looks after some hits. I used the lid from a peroxide bottle, and cut a mouthpiece, and carb, woopeee. I liked the cheap bulb vape idea, so I had to try one out.

I'll buy a clear bulb some time to make one right. I just hacksawed the end off of this 25 watt bulb, and voila.

The white stuff is kaolin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaolin), a white clay. It's safe. It's the active ingredient in Kaopectate, the stuff you swill for tummy troubles. Just put some salt in the bulb and shake it around and pour it out. I did that, rinsed it really good, and let it dry.

lol i just made a new one, because my other one was all wet and nasty inside. ill have some pics of it in use later. I dont know why some of you guys dont like it... who cares if it looks like a crack pipe. It works REALLY good, and over all is better for you. Im not saying it will replace my bubbler or bowls, but def. a cool little way to smoke.

So my final verdict is....: pretty damn decent.

I like it a lot, actually. It was definitely worth my time. The only problem I noticed was it caused my throat to hurt really bad after a while. I'm not sure why...or if it even has to do with the light bulb vape, but yeah. Got me nice and geeked though.

All I do is hacksaw almost the very end of the socket, and rotate it, so i'm not hacksawing glass. After that, I break the end off, and stab my wire cutters into the innards repeatedly, but softly at first, gradually increasing pressure until the glass breaks. Simple. CAREFUL though. I broke some glass out with the wire cutters, and the glass likes to find your eye. Didn't find mine, but it tried.

I usually keep the tip of the flame a few centimeters from the actual bulb. It'll take a little longer but it'll get the job done without scorching the bud. I recommend using a candle so you don't waste your lighter fluid.

Give it a minute or so and you'll start seeing thin trails of fine gray smoke. That's the THC burning. This is your signal to inhale. :jointsmile:

you dont need to wet the bulb down, instead you can just use salt to clean and then ready to smoke.

Homemade vaps are alright, but they tend to break after couple uses, mine lasted me around 10-12 uses before the bulb broke, and then i made another and it broke in about the same time, so then I decided to wait until I save enough money to buy a real vaporizer.

for homemade vaps you must hold the lighter's flame about 1-2 inches from the bulb for about 30 seconds, and you will see a faint amount of vapor, you then hit the vap, repeat process.
Also it might not have been air tight between bulb and bottle.

i used a sharp nail, and lightly hammered the nail into the black part which is just thick glass. Took about 3 minutes.

I made one about 3 weeks ago and I used it every day for 1.5 weeks... (9 days) and I cleaned it and set it down in my room (Mom doesn't know that I smoke) and she finds it and freaks out thinking im smoking crack and yea.... i forgot to put the the cut up bottle part on the top but i dont think that matters cause its airtight and the cap is removable. i used sticky tape (friction hockey tape) warpe around the bulb so when i put the cap on it will stick to the tape creating a air tight seal.

hahaha well i am asian. um i guess if u guys ever watched beerfest and u seen that science geek?...well im the science geek of fucking weed. i havnt smoked for a while but i now all the tricks of the trade. anyway a flood light is kinda hard to make a vape with. This is because unlike a regular blub the little metal piece inside is harder to get out. Theres a peice of metal in there that is way bigger than u can make the hole at the top. What u need to do is scrape away as much glass as u can remove everything but that last little bit of metal then u need to get something long and sharp and cut the metal up into little peices, then wa la u got some hot shit. Im about to start and try to make one out of a fog light its gana be hard the glass is thick. And on the floodlight dont worrie about the paint on the sides, i still havnt figured out how to get that off, but it doesnt bother me non, i just look threw the bottom. HAPPY MAKINGS!

Ps: im about to start making my legit waterfall bong out of those plastic pluming pipes were it have valves and all this shit and something that once u turn on a switch keeps the fire lite, ill post soon!

Haha. This is such an old thread. strange that it was revived so randomly...

Bulb vapes are interesting. They work, no doubt, but have their downsides as well. I remember my throat becoming extremely irritated after smoking from them. I'm not sure what it was, but it always happened. I had to have a really thick juice (smoothie type drink) or a gatorade by my side, otherwise my throat was searing itself open. Twasn't fun. --is that even a word?

You get mad highs, though. Vaporising is the way to go. I truly think, when I'm older, that I'll resort to vaporising and vaporising alone. I love actually smoking, though...so I'm in no hurry.
