What is flushing?

Sorry for the post and yes I have read all the past threads I could but not have found any that explain what flushing is, they have all talked about what they did it with when etc, can someone please help a new soon to be good grower out? I am starting with chili peppers, thanks for any info

flushing is just using water to remove salt build up or excessive fertilizers from the soil commonly done when overfertilized where large amounts of water is put through the growing meduim, it has also been used sometimes when you are close to harvest to remove excessive ferts that could affect the taste of the buds.
