After hearing Start the Fire by No Doubt (yeah, eat me.), I've realized that I want to start listening to reggae music. The thing is though, is that I can't stand the Jamaican accent... so are there any reggae-influenced bands/artists that don't have a Jamaican accent?
Thanks!
Matisyahu has a jewish-jamacian accent. Sublime is a bit reggae too.
how can you not like the accent? thats what reggae is about

For sure, to like reggae you pretty much gotta live with the accents. Even non-Jamaican singers will usually fake a Jamaican accent when they're singing reggae.
In terms of good reggae, of course there's Bob Marley, then there's Steel Pulse, Third World, UB-40, Eek-a-Mouse (i'm not a huge fan, but everyone has different tastes), Jimmy Cliff, etc. etc. etc.
And if you absolutely have to listen to hardcore old school roots reggae then there's always Burning Spear.

lol reggae is amazing........The jamaican accent is great too....Some reggae artists don't have the accent when they sing as much as they do when thay talk......... Look for Gyptian, Sizzla, Jah Cure, I wayne, Bounty Killer, Beenie Man, Vybz Kartel, Movado, and Wayne Wonder, there's a lot more. If you don't like the jamaican accent, you don't like reggae.......and that other shit you speak of is not reggae.............
Mystic Roots - Pass The Marijuana
Sublime - 2 joints
Bob Marley - Jammin
Bob Marley - No Woman No Cry
Bob Marley - One Love
Bob Marley - I Shot The Sheriff
Inner Circle - Bad Boys
Ziggy Marley - A Lifetime
They;re all great, but theres loads more from all of em. All good.

look for remixes of raggae, thats my favorite. Nas has a few. Crazie bone.
the best is 3 o'clock(road block) or whatever it is by bob marley. do a search for that and find the version with crazie bone. great song.

We have an original music forum for original music. Original music is music that you make yourself. Basically Peter Tosh shouldn't be mentioned in the orginal music section unless it was Peter Tosh himself talking about it.

yes, i understand that, but that music was orignal at one point or another, thats why I want the MODs to change it to "Music" instead of "Original Music" so the lounge can stop getting so crowded

That sucks man I couldn't handle a whole month of bullshitting. I live in an area where pretty much 93% of people ages 15-32 smoke grass or can easily get it, so nights like tonight suck balls. I had a fat quarter earlier but sold it in hopes of getting better bud later but that fell through and now I can't even get mids.:(

Im a BIG reggae fan, but im at a loss as to what to suggest. If ya dig the reggae im afraid you'll have to deal with the accent. Try Eak a mouse for something different....erm.....barrington levy, wayne marshall, wayne wonder, UB40, Top Cat. But if ya listen carefully they all have the 'twang' that you dont like! Good luck with that!
Peace

I didn't like their studio album as much as the live recording. Check him out. Its Hasidic reggae.
