xbox? xbox360? ps3? wii?

I was thinking of getting a new system lately but there are so many out there and I'm not quite sure which one is best. for those you who have played or have some of these systems maybe you can give me some suggestions and help me make a decision.

I had my eye on an xbox but I was hoping for some input on the few systems out there.

the original xbox was an awesome system. and worth every penny. but i suggest buying a 360. u wont regret buying it. nothing against the Wii tho, that system is awesome and worth the money aswell. iv played the PS3 and got nothing from it.theres nothing special about it and well u wont be able to find once since they dont make them for the time being. as for the graphics the 360 rapes every system hands down.

i own a wii. i use it to check the weather and the news..because i can do it from bed. wii sports is amazingly fun, especially with friends. i own 2 games, Twilight Princess (amazing game) and Red Steel, its ok..the controls take a little getting used to and the graphics are a little cheap. but overall its a really good system.

Ooh, an old thread but to follow up, in case anyone was wondering, I ended up getting a Wii. My sister and I we woke up at 5:30 am to get to the mall at 6:00am to be able to line up outside the store. Luckily there were a couple people there before us who were smart enough to have written all the people in a piece of paper in the order they arrived so my sister and I were down for number 8. I bought Banna monkey blitz and Paper Mario. Wii is actually pretty fun :)

ill admit that rite now the 360 blows the ps3 out of the water... cheaper games cheaper consolelots of things.. but the 360 has been out for about a year so give the ps3 a good few months and the 360 will be nothing compared to it.

i'll just say ps3 is nothing that everyone's been trying to downgrade it to... it's not some shitty unstable system, and the pricing is actually pretty fucking fair if you consider it has a blue ray player (blue ray players aren't cheap, and a blue ray burner for pc is easily equivelant in price to the ps3)

A gaming machine shouldn't cost $600, I don't care what it can do. Frankly after dealing with last gens shoddy PS2 hardware, broken promises and bad mistake after bad mistake they've made with the PSP and PS3. I wouldn't trust anything Sony shoves out the door. For $200 less money you can get the 360 that as far as gaming goes is just as good as PS3 claims to be and has a much enhanced experience with Xbox Live abilites and Achievements. Really if you have 360 and a Wii you have no need of any other gaming machine.

i love watching people argue about this. the truth is what console you get should come down to what games you want to play, not loyalty (read: fanboyism) to a specific company. no console itself is really superior to another, unless you nitpick which would grant 360 (considerable) online superiority, ps3 technological superiority, and wii holy-crap-this-is-fun-to-play-with superiority.
but truthfully it's the games, look at what's out and what will be out for each system and decide then. personally i wanted Resistance, MotorStorm, Lair, WarHawk, Uncharted, Metal Gear Solid 4, and Heavenly Sword (plus the Blu-ray and dvd upscaler to go with the HDTV) that PS3 offered, so that's what i got. but with games like Gears of War, Mass Effect, Halo 3, and Splinter Cell:Conviction, it may not be long before pick up a 360 too (o, i WILL be broke). and for the guy reading this about go: psh, "X" game sucks, "Y" game on "Z" console r0x0rz way harder; you've completely missed the point of what i just said, those are the games I like, if they're not the ones you like...you probly own a different console

if you wanna get technical i could bring up how thousands upon thousands of xbox's and 360's had to be immediately sent off to microsoft due to ciritcal errors because all the stores refused to do the instore refunds/exchanges. there was even a 2 day or less period where microsoft said "you're sol, pay for the fixes or buy a new system" on my local news, but later changed that... and you can probably bet your ass atleast on the 360's portion it was because microsoft was tryign to push their equipment out the door quicker. :rolleyes: talk about broken promises.

go ahead... neither i or anyoen i know ever had a problem with ours.... except my 2nd one (sold the first one after i got outta jail) was the slim model and it seems to get laggy in games after playing a few hours... which is quite fucking aggervating, but everyoen else seemed to love their slim model.. i shoulda just bought the old trusty big fucker <.<

Don't even get me started on the PS2's...your crazy the good old ps2 was amazing.. it set the standards. i never had ANY problems with it. i never used online on the ps2, i thought online was just starting out then and i didn't really bother with it. but normal gameplay was perfect.

one thing i don't like about the 360 is the controler... the ps3 one is much better.

I think you should go with the 360 for a number of reasons....

1) it has a pretty reasonable price when you consider what you're getting for it

2) Xbox Live always has been and probably always will be fuckin' amazing

3) Great diversity in games, its got something for everyone...

4) I personally think its the best-looking and has the best feeling controller out of all of them...

Blueray is a huge scam. The difference in quality is next to none and Sony expect everyone to replace their DVD collection of the past 5 years with something that costs up to 6 times the price. It's almost destined to fail either way.

While I think Sony have made a million wrong moves with the PS3s release, I think in a years time when the price has inevitably dropped and the REAL games start to appear it may have the chance to be top dog again. For now, I would recommend a 360 if you have the money, or if you don't, a Wii. The Wii is the best selling console at the moment (You realise Gamecube is still outselling PS3 right slipknot?) and it a great thing to play, not about the graphics but never was in the first place. Some excellent games coming out too, such as Mahunt 2, Mario Galaxy and Resi4 Wii Edition. Definitely the top pick above 360 and PS3 when it comes to multiplayer. You may even wanna think about getting a Wii AND a 360, they really are in a league of their own. In the meantime, it's clear that the PS3 is a terrible investment at this stage in time. Much better games on 360 and half the price, you can always change your mind later.

blueray technology is a scam?!?!?! are you retarded?!? have you even watched anything on blueray?? better yet have you watched anything on blueray on a 1080p hd tv set??? i own one and it blows eveything out of the water! including hd dvd. blue ray is the only format that offers full 1080p hd. ps3 is an ultimate entertainment system that will blow away anything else. once the programmers finally tap into what the ps3 can truely accomplish it will blow away xbox 360(graphic wise).

for less money go with the xbox 360 it a badass system. it has more games, only because it was released a year earlier and is easier to program for. its online gaming is better.

for the most fun, roll with a wii. this system is kick ass fun. i play it more then i play both my ps3 or my xbox 360. but you gotta upgrade the video component cable if you want the graphics to look better then your old sega genesis on a 19 inch tv. that upgraded cable make the graphics 1000X better. it has outsold the other systems and hopefuly will have better games for it in the future. i cant wait until they finally upgrade this badassed machined with at least 1080i hd.

i really like all three systems but i am having alot more fun with the wii.

Agreed, but people would be shelling out if they thought they were worth the money.

I'm totally unconvinced by Blueray. To me it seems they're rushing it out, trying to make it big and mainstream way too fast. The discs are expensive as hell. I havn't had the pleasure of experiencing it in a living room, just a demo in a shop, but I noticed barely any difference between that and a high-quality DVD player on a good TV.

I find the addition of Blueray takes the PS franchise well away from one of Sony's main audiences, kids and teenagers. I know I can't afford a PS3, let alone the right TV AND still have enough cash leftover to buy the £50 games and £30 Bluerays. Who the fuck can afford that?

Anyway, one day i'll be able to experience a proper PS3 night, maybe if I meet a big executive that's into games, and i'll be convinced.

ummm, you may wanna go have your glasses/contact prescription checked. same goes for hd-dvd vs dvd. the max res on a dvd is 480p (640x480), whereas the other two can do 1080p (1920x1080), more than twice the resolution. maybe on an upscaling dvd player you wouldn't notice much difference, but standard def vs HD...really? ever use a photoshop type program and blow up a small picture to look bigger? notice how it gets all fuzzy and crappy looking? well that's what's happening with dvd picture on a tv screen, HD content doesn't have to be blown up, it's already that big. for an example of what i jsut described (blowing up an image vs higher resolution image), compare the following pics: DVD (http://img127.imageshack.us/img127/8564/sdleafwc1.jpg)
and HD-DVD/Blu-ray (http://img127.imageshack.us/img127/2383/hdleaftx1.jpg)
you can also try setting your monitor resolution to 640x480 and looking at the difference between that and your monitor's highest setting (1024x768, 1280x1024, 1600x1200, whatever)
