its not really cliques anymore, its more like groups of people with no boundaries, just because you hang out with one "circle" doesnt mean that the "circles" dont mix, they all do,
but its more like sterotypes than cliques where I live

It's going to be tough.
Theres going to be groups that are obviously harder to be accepted in than others. Avoid these people. Look for friendlier, (probably uglier) groups. They're all just people, it doesn't matter what they look like.
In every group there is usually an asshole or just a "cold" person.
Suck up a little to them at first to avoid too much evil.
Remember, girls tend to be more accepting, there is usually only one or two girly groups that are the bitch cliques.
Otherwise if you're smooth and handsome you're in.
And hey,
you smoke bud.
You instantly have a large "clique" to go to.
Check out the bathrooms during class and speak to the people you know have the same medication as you do ;)

I hear what these guys are saying...but think about it...you have a fresh start and a clean slate reputation. Just make good first impressions. One of my current best friends came into school middle of the year junior year, and in like a week...became one of the most liked and popular kids in the school. He was nice to everyone, and out-going...and soon he was in every 'clique'.
I dunno about this clique thing anyway...I've gone to parties in HS where most 'cliques' where there. 1500 kids in the school...not small time by any means.
This isn't a teen movie...people don't judge you as much as you think. There's not the jocks and the cheerleaders and the stoners and whatever...it's just not like that. Hell...me and one of my friends start smoking weed...then next thing...everyone's trying it...not judging us for it.

that's how my high school was, like a Venn diagram. lol *such a nerd for knowing what a Venn diagram is*

my school was big though, like 2500 students in grades 9-12. it might be different at a smaller school.
plus we always gave the new kids the royal treatment until we figured out whether they were cool or not... then if they weren't we just starting not calling them. (lol) but we usually gave people a fair chance before judging them.

Heh, when I was in highschool, some people from diffrent cliques mixed, but not too many. The main courtyard at my highschool was separated into 3 groups mostly. The punks, goths/whatever wasnt considered preppy or black was on one side, then on the other you had the preppy kids. Then, off to the side, you had all the black kids and the kids who wanted to be gangsta.
But seriously dude, if you want to fit in, pick a clothing style, and wear that shit. o.O

Well it's not as bad as it is in the movies, most areas that is... I guess it all depends on where in the U.S. exactly you will be. Need more info. :rasta:

It shouldn't be hard for you to make firends with the stoner kids. I remember in HS, everyone who smoked weed hung out together, but than again they were in the minority. That's who my friends were, but I didn't start smoking till my senior year.

Give us some info. Where are you moving, what music and shit do you like, how do you act around people? Just act chill and you'll eventually start talking to people. Talk to some stoners, I made tons of friends that way. Just don't be a dick, don't act like a pussy, you'll be fine. Trust me. I go to the ghettoest school in my city. All I did was not act like a bitch, met the right people, and I'm basically cool with everyone. Don't pick fights, just chill.

when you go in there, find the biggest strongest alpha dog there is in the entire place and beat his ass to the ground... then everyone will know you're not a force to be reckoned with and will respect you...
oh wait, no... that's for going to prison :p

Really?? That's kinda strange...at my school...there were no stoner groups or anything to that effect. One of my good friends..was the number one running back in the state...obviously popular and liked...but still smoked with the best of 'em. A shitload of football players and sports players would smoke. And we won the league championship a few years. If you didn't smoke, or at least drink...you were definitely in the minority at my high school. LOL...the 'stoner kids' or the 'burnouts'...sounds like every movie ever....but not reality (I believe you...I'm just saying).

We did have football players who smoked occasionally and many other students who would smoke maybe once a month. But the ones who did it on a regular basis were very few.

Just find the group of people you can relate to the most, then try and be friends with them. Like a shitload of people in my school are all potheads, so it's not that hard. Even then I am still friends with people that don't smoke pot or anything. You should'nt have a problem unless the school you go to is full of dickheads. Goodluck man

I knew there was a reason I liked you. Maybe its the lock'd up toy. Maybe not. You don't take shit off nobody, and that rocks. Sometimes you have to just grow up and be a man.
Like bong said, walk in that bitch like you own it. Wink at every hottie that meets your glance. When Tommy Football or Gary Geek comes up to you, don't act like a schoolgirl, act like the confident person you are. If anyone tests your limits, you let them know how its gonna be. Roll some heads, smoke a joint, be cool. Of course, easier said than done for some people. Some folks just ain't cool.
Be nice, don't talk forever. You'll be fine without anyone around for a week or two.
Of course this is coming from someone who came from a small school where it was easy. Them big schools, lots of people, I don't have experience in them, but I could still imagine they are the same shit.....only you have to tell alot more people 'how it is'.
again tahnks for the help all :D

As long as you keep light but make it interesting, people will always like you. Just say hi to everyone you meet and it will all be ok.

yes, be friendly to everyone dont be afraid to be yourself, this girl at my school was all quiet at first and everyone though she was okay, then she got comfortable and lost a lot of peoples interest
be yourself so you wont have to deal with that in the first place

Whatever you do don't try to fit in. Try to make friends but be yourself. When I was in high school I was friends with EVERYONE I had druggie friends, preppy friends, nerdy friends, artsy friends. Just don't become EMO, whatever you do, nobody likes a pity party. I felt like kicking their ass just looking at them, and nobody has ever brought that feeling out of me before. There is just something about guys wearing girls jeans and thrift store t-shirts that are 2 sizes too small that pisses me off...

Be chill, and welcome to the US!

Its not cliquey where I live which is one of the most diverse schools in the nation I guess. Public schools today are like groups and kids and they all hang out with thier close group at the start of the night and everyone meets up with everyone at the parties and is friends with all. Except girls, they hate eachother for the most part.
