Solar Eruption
Today the sun hurled a bright coronal mass ejection (CME) into space - but not toward Earth. SpaceWeather.com speculates that an active sunspot is "lurking just around the corner."

I thought this picture of the sun was cool......
Thank God it isnt coming toward earth.

astronomy has fascinated me before i even knew there 9 (now 8...) planets... anytime i was sad, i'd look up to the stars... and know someone else out there, that felt like me, was doing the same... it gave me a bond to someone i didn't even know if that makes sense... if i felt alone, i'd do the same, and know i wasn't alone.... from 9-14 i watched the skies and stars more than i (or the average) person my age watched tv....
i've always also wanted to be an astronaught, but not as we know them now.. as they're depicted in like star trek or something... exploring unknown space, seeing the things, presumabley, no one else ever has.. even if it meant i'd have to leave everything i knew and loved behind forever... i woulda took the chance in a second...
i refuse to believe earth is the only planet out there with a society of 'people' (animals, plants ect) it's just way too big to even consider the thought we are alone... not even saying there are aliens that have space crafts that are always coming and picking us up or any of that shit... maybe it's like staring in a mirror and they're just as curious as we are, maybe they can only go to their local moon on a manned space craft... but i refuse to believe we are alone...
space is the one thing that has never ceased to intrest me or fascinate me...

I was just reading about this. Pretty trippy. Was also reading about the Comet McNaught.
One of the unfortunate things about living in the city is that you see no stars. Only stars you see here is at the planetarium. Oh yeah, I didn't see stars, that was the Pink Floyd laser light show. But I have been there.
The best place to go and see stars in So cal is out in Mojave Desert. I have been waaaaaaaaay out there and the visibility is incredible. I like to break out my astrology book and try and name all that I can.

i got that same feeling when i left 'here' for a month out to the new mexico middle of no where desert... i was only 9 if that.. and it was the most beautiful sight of my entire life... and that image is still in my mind, always. i even tried to mimic it, with my room, by putting glow in the dark stars everywhere... out there except for the ground eveyrthing was covered in stars.. i mean the only place you could look and NOT see them was to look at the ground... i miss it too :/
