A lot of you might disagree,
but I found that entire movie total *incoming english phrase* bollocks.
I don't care if it was a lynch film and "supposed to be unique", it was devoid of mental stimulation, and I felt like I was in the mind of a born dull hard core druggie after severel decades of abuse.

In my opinion the horror genre isn't as great as it used to be. These days horror movies mean blood and guts, not something that the story line is truly scary in itself. People think that watching someone getting mutilated infront of a camera is scary, it's not it's discusting. I remember a movie called Event Horizon (I think that was the title) in was a nice mix of gore to real scaryness

Mars Attacks was on TV last night LOL...it's 'cute' I guess. There was actually quite the cast. Jack Nicholson was the president...Jack Black was in it...couple others.

I'd say anything with Huge Grant is not going to be watched by me.

Also..The Village and Signs were just bad movies...pretty easy to understand..just stupid (IMO and most people's). I thought Village might be good..so me and my dad went to see it..he was pretty pissed after lol. Sixth Sense was great though. And Unbreakable was pretty good.

The Ring was good for the first and last 10 minutes...other than that..no good. The Ring 2 was easily one of the worst movies ever.

The Animal and The Hot Chick were movies..you're like..' Seriously, why did they make these'?

The absolute worst movie had to be Boat Trip...watched it on TV late night...wow...gotta live with regrets though.

Malibu's Most Wanted...?

What?? Lost In Translation? That was a fantastic movie. Of course you have to like that type of more serious, "artsy" movies but there's a difference between not liking amovie and it being a bad movie.

The worst movie I ever saw was called Viva Le Amour. Despite the title it was actually a Chinese (Taiwanese) movie. I can speak Chinese and every now and then I'll watch one of the more serious movies from over there. Anyhow, this movie was some bizarre, twisted voyeuristic view of 4 or 5 miserable people. The crazy thing about it was that in the entire 2 or so hours, there was only about 10 minutes total of dialogue. It just sucked me in though because I kept expecting something to happen, kept expecting someone to start talking. Just when someone would start, and I'd think "ok, finally" they'd shut up again. So I just kept waiting, then there's like a 5 minute scene of some chick crying by a river and then the credits start rolling. WTF?? Of course, if I hadn't been baked, I'm sure I would have turned it off after the first 10 minutes :o

i only bring it up because Boondock Saints was an attempt on making a Tarantino type of movie that came nowhere close to the ballpark. If i recall one of the lines that most of the idiots like to quote from that movie is "Why don't you make like a tree, and get the fuck outta here?"-----What are you fucking kidding me. That sounds like an unintelligible spattering from an autistic kid.

Other "Genius Dialogue"

"Fucking... what the fucking fuck... who the fuck fucked this fucking... how did you two fucking fucks... FUCK!!!"

"We're sorta like 7-Eleven, we're not always doing business, but we're always open."

"Cuddle? What a fag."<<<<<<<<<<the only line i liked in the whole movie.

OMG your crazy, That's a damn good flick, if you can't appreciate a film without haveing a few catch fraises to take home thats your bad. I am trying my best not to knock Tarantino but you are making it really hard by throwing that crap on the court. You obviously don't know the movie well enough if your saying its a Tarantino knockoff. . . thats a laugh. . . Have you ever seen a Yun-Fat film. . . omg . . . If it wasn't for the casts none of his films would of done well. . . for example True Romance. Tarantino is a bitter, and if you did you homework you would find out what I mean. . . Cast make alot out of nothing, look at a Tim Burt. film, actually watch them with your eyes closed. . . you can almost smell the shit. . . LOL

Haha, that "make like a tree" line was said by the stuttering old bartender, if you remember correctly. That's why it's so funny. He's an angry, stuttering, Irish old man and he was fed up with the Russians..

The movie was definitely NOT an attempt at a QT-type movie either, so I don't know where you got that.

The way the movie was pieced together is so intriguing. It's a good movie, bar none. If you think otherwise, you might be one of those spattering autistic kids :o

Yes it was a CR movie, and if it had Chris Rock in there blabbling away, then it would be one of the worst movie ever. :p I hate Chris Rock, fucking hate him!

Not to sound like a bigot or anything, but Martin Lawrence, Chris Rock and Chris Tucker give black people a bad name. They are loud, noisy, and blame the world for them being black. :p I read a funny saying some dude gave to me on the street the other day:

"Your story touched me in a sincere way. Your story gives other people hope

Yeah I'm not too big on the Rock man either. But for me, Martin Lawerance is great in the Bad Boys movies, 'Nothing to Lose', and I know 'Blue Streak' was not the greatest picture...but I liked it for some reason lol. Chris Tucker is great for 'Friday' (one of the funniest character in any movie period..IMO) and 'Rush Hour'. I'm not big on their stand up, but I'm guessing that's where you get your feelings from.

Plus I remember seeing Martin on on some talk show saying how he's in love with the magical herb and will never give it up...that's cool.

It's all about personal perception and I thought lost in translation was crap, "artsy" is just a way people try to make themselves feel more "highbrow", but usualy it just means it's going to bore the shit out of somebody or be so far up it's own arse it could act as a suppository.
I found LIT to be weak on storyline and wooden, IMO that makes it a shit movie.

PS Greenport it wasn't Evil Dead but it was the sequel and it is an excellent example of how horror and comedy make good partners.

I saw a really bad one the other day called Lady in the Water. Like what a stupendous amount of filmography crap. That writer, Shamalan I think it is, should stop making movies. Keep the in depth, boring detail crap for the books, where it belongs.

Plus the storyline was pure crap. I could shit a better story than that. Yeah, a girl who lives underneath my swimming pool, so I'll get all my tenants to help me, who don't seem to find a pale women who lives in the water strange. I mean, they all accept it as being normal. If someone told me that story, I would fuckin move away, but them, no way. Just another day I guess, checking out a chick who lives in a swimming pool.

The Ninth Gate. God that movie was fucking horrible.

I remember renting Swimfan when I worked at a movie store and got my rentals for free.

I still wanted a god damn refund for that piece of shit.

Haha I agree....that reminded me of "SwimFan" another terrible attempt at a motion picture. Was that you who said you didn't like "Butterfly Effect"...I respect your opinion...but really? lol. That shit was a mind-fuck...pretty damn good flick if you ask me. Very unique to say the least.

Yea I don't care for the butterfly effect. The story was good, but the acting/movie hurt my eyes. I think it would have been an awesome book. Or maybe it's because I don't care of Ashton. Even when he's trying to be serrious, hes still just being final year of production Kelso. At least thats just me. The wife liked the flick as well as a few other peeps I know.

Rambo: First Blood
Rambo: First Blood Part 2
Rambo 3

They all suck, but First Blood Part 2 is the worst.

...and just about any movie that Sylvester Stallone is in, even Rocky.

Did anyone see "When Darkness Falls?" That movie sucked a big one, too. The tooth fairy (worst villain ever) actually EXPLODED at the end of the movie when the main characters defeated her. No explosives involved. Not even a cool explosion, either, like a lame ass firework. :|

Napoleon Dynamite was 'cute'. Nothing more than a children's movie to me. Not bad for one though. And Scarface is a classic (much much more so then ND lol).

I would say that your post only proves that you have no idea of what makes a good movie, I haven't seen Napoleon but the other two are classic alright.

Classic examples of crap movies that is.

I hate all that rating shit. It's bullshit (not directed at you Jedi)...it's just that site's opinion. Just like with all movie critics. Just like with us...it's all opinion..just because someone gives a movie a 20...it could be a 90 in someone else's book...or vice versa. It really isn't relevant if you ask me. If one likes a film...one likes a film...that's it. Just like with music.

Ah man, I liked the glass house =\ It was ok.

I'd have to say the matrix movies, except for the first one. Which I did like. The rest are trashola.

Scarface was kinda shitty. It's way to over rated. But it's still ok.
Species sucked.
Men in black.

For those of you bashing rotten tomatoes, you need to click on a link before you bash it. Rotten tomatoes doesn't just give a rating, they take many, many critics ratings and combine them together to give a score. They also do the same with users. (By the way benagain 78% of critics and 94% of rt users gave Office Space a good rating, so maybe you better check again).

Yes, you can say, "I don't care what critics think! If I like a movie its good!! If I don't, it's crap!"

Well, that may be your philosophy, but it is in no way a method of deriving a film's merit. I'm sure some people think Heidi Klum or George Clooney are ugly people. That doesn't mean they are. A concensus needs to be reached on a film to determine whether its good and bad. And the vast majority of critics (people who love and have studied film, and are therefore more qualified to determine a film's merits in at least its technical sense) gave Lost in Translation a positive rating. Therefore, it is a good film. Whether one individual thinks it reeks doesn't matter. The concensus is it is a good film, so one's listing it as a "worst film ever" can hardly be justified.

I agree with ya to a bit. You have to acknowledge when a lot of people like a flick. It just seems like to me that some critics in hollywood have thier own idea of whats good and whats not and pushes that idea on everyone else. I don't think anythings wrong with a site like rottentomatoes. As long as it doesn't keep you from enjoying a movie that a couple fat republicans might not have dug ;)

On a side note: Starting a post by saying something like "PROOF THAT MARIJUANA MAKES PEOPLE STUPIDER" is only asking for negative replies. Try not to come off so harsh and we might welcome your ideas a little easier. Not flaming ya, just making a suggestion. :D

OK, I know I'm gonna get shit for some stuff on my list.

All slasher flicks to me are extremely bad. I saw Saw II. It was crap. I felt insulted for having to watch it.

I remember seeing Independence Day when I was little and completely hating it, haven't seen it in a while though.

And yea, these movies that play too much on the ghetto/teenager/hip culture... it's horrible. I'd never be able to watch any of those.

Dawn of the Dead (Newer one) was fucking horrible, I couldn't stand it, so cliched. I did somewhat enjoy Land of the Dead, although it still kept too many cliches.

Critics are a small percentage of the population and are therefore not a good measure of the general consensus, box office receipts show how popular a movie is but not how good it is.
Personal preferences differ greatly and what some consider a classic movie I may think is a piece of tat.
Defining a good movie is almost impossible but I would say the definition of a bad movie is one that you can't stand to watch or that you end up falling asleep during.
For me (and many others) Lost in Translation was too long ,too slow and far too full of pretensions.

Another thing I notice is the awe with which some people refer to Tarantino but I think he is over-rated, he borrows heavily from Japanese and European directors in his style. In fact America has been "borrowing" ideas from Japan for a very long time, even a so called "American classic" like The Magnificent 7 was Japanese and originaly called 7 Samurai. Then of course you have movies that were originaly European movies or spin offs of European TV. La Femme Nikita being just one.

Originality scores high for me and there are very few truly original movies anymore.

LOL " why don't you make like a tree, and F-F-Fuck off." lol classic. the bartender could never get the anicdote's right. .

Babel = yes you are right; shit

Moulan Rouge = cut my own dick off

Oceans 12 = cut my own dick off and brake-dance under lasers

Secret Window = predictable bullshit aimed at my GF

The Village = Blind people are retarded and can be led to believe anything. Someone said if you dont like this movie you are unintelligent. I remember all kinds of scenes like, "uh, cant the blind person hear the monster run by"?

Alien Vs Predator

I give the worst movie in the fucking world to : THE RING (series)

So, there is a ghost in the woods copying vhs tapes. 'Nuff said. Why dont they use DVDs? They need to get with the times. The VHS thing tears millions of holes into the story. Did the cabin in the woods have cowax? Did any of the foreground shit take place anywhere around the time of VCRs, or did the ghost go to the flea market this weekend and set up a TV and VCR in a cabin no one uses.

Also, one of my favorite points about this movie. There is a scene where the woman is in the well, being chased by the ghost. This woman uses her upper body strength to scale a fucking well faster than a ghost can fly or whatever........but then, they run away to another state and the ghost shows up haunting them, and dear are attacking there car.

The ghost cant race a woman out of an abandoned well, but the ghost can beat your airplane to Oregon. That bitch is buff.
