My step grandmother was just diagnosed today with terrible 2 year old cancer in her stomach. It made me wonder what benefits does medicinal marijuana have for cancer patients. Can anyone help me here?

That's horrible. I'm assuming she's starting chemotherapy pretty soon.
I can tell you from first hand experience that marijuana is a god-send for dealing with chemotherapy. Relieves nausea, increases appetite so you won't lose a lot of weight, increases positivity of the situation, pain-reliever for the pain.
Be there for your grandmother, she needs you. My prayers go out to her that she gets through this, and it makes her stronger.

Actually that's great that it increases appetite. The cancer has been destroying her stomach and she's lost tons of weight because of a lower appetite.

I'm curious about the "two-year-old cancer" part. Did they say they estimated it'd been growing there for two years or so? Or had she had symptoms for that long and so they assumed that was about how long she'd had it?
My older sister got a lot of relief from her nausea symptoms from her chemotherapy, and it also helped with her appetite, too, and did good things for her mood, which was understandably low. She didn't notice a lot of pain relief with the strains she was smoking, but she wasn't smoking very significant amounts of weed, and only once was she able to get any Indica, which is generally the better pain-relieving strain. Her pain meds worked just fine on her pain, at least till the end got near.
I've read good things about hash for stomach and intestinal ailments. If your grandmother's not a smoker and has a hard time inhaling, try looking into cannabis recipes and possibly see if you can find some hash that could be used in brownies or cookies.

It's a huge mess, because the doctors said it was cancer 3 weeks ago. And two weeks ago they said it wasn't cancer (to some affect). Now that they've taken a tissue sample they think it's real bad and has spread throughout much of her upper stomach.
Unfortunatetly in New Mexico medicinal marijuana is not an option. Things in this country and world obviously need to change.

The laws do need to change. We live in Texas, and it's not an option here, either. So to help my sister, we broke the law. It was worth it, too, for as much benefit as she got. Just pisses me off we were forced into a position where we had to make an illegal choice. There's no question it ought to be legal for medical use everywhere.
Real sorry about your grandmom, MotleyCB. Are they going to do surgery on her? I have had a portion of my stomach and sections of my intestines removed because I had a bad ruptured appendix years back and got a terrible infection all through my abdomen that they could only treat with surgery. It's very hard now for me to gain weight and sometimes it's even hard for me not to actively lose it. I can usually maintain what I have by eating more frequent, smaller meals. Maybe that'll help her, too. I hope so!

I don't know what they are going to do with her. Maybe chemo. I ought to mention medicinal marijuana to my family. Not to mention I could supply her with the weed.
