Well it looks like it's ok to shoot & kill someone stealing your plants, at least in California anyway: Man not charged (http://www.latimes.com/news/yahoo/la-me-pot24jan24,1,1408342.story?coll=la-newsaol-headlines)

So far anyway...they may come back and charge him yet still. Sorry about someone dying but this just shows how stealing someones plants can have serious repercussions.

Saw this on the news. He was more or less protecting his property IMO.

hmmm... yeh, but id rather have my plants ripped up than shoot a 15 year old kid, i would have shot the adult with him, i mean, they should know better, i think it would have been alot better if the guy have some lead-shot SAP gloves, - slap them stupid and break their noses...:) lol no guns...

That sucks...

It's one thing to steal someones plants from an outdoor grow (which is still filthy), but a-whole-nother thing to steal someones plants from their home. That is just asking for trouble.

But, I think he possibly could have used less lethal force to deter the thieves. Shoot him in the leg or something. I would suffer for a long time with the death of a 15 year-old on my conscience.

It doesn't say the case is closed and it does say that they need to prove that his LIFE was not in danger (which it probably was not) for him to be left off. I see him being charged anyway, possibly with a lesser charge, and most likely sued for wrongful death by the parents of the boy.

I remember a case several years ago where a man woke up to his house being robbed. By the time he got his gun, the robbers were making their way out the window and running over the front lawn. The man fired and shot one of them in the back of the head. He was charged with murder because his life was not in danger and he had no reasonable belief that the robbers were threatening his life.

Material things are just that...material. They can be re-built, re-purchased, or re-grown. Some things are just not worth killing over.

Bullshit, dumbass kid got everything he needed. Sorry but if you come onto my property and try to steal MY SHIT, you better expect to hear my guns firing, regardless of if your 15 or 50, you know what the fuck you are doing, it's not like your 4 and someone tricked you into it... I hope that the kid did damages to the property as well so the guy that shot the kid, can sue his familly for his lost babies.... Stealing is just that stealing, get caught and you deserve to serve a punishment, eh, welcome to america, not all of us can afford ADT alarm systems, so think again before you rob someone, because you might be answering to a piece of lead, not just a person calling the police.

lol here in uk they are very tight on guns, i rmemeber a while ago two people where bringing in a couple of pistols into the country and they got 10 yrs each, and the prices are, WHoooaAAHH , plus i prefer knives lol :P

Now what the police here fear is people carrying a knife to protect themselves on the street, now i would never use knife to protect myself on the street cos its fucking bullshit i can do it without one, unless you know a whole gang attakcs me but lets say 10 plus people why would i be stupid enough to pull my knife than, i cant stab 10 of them at once and if they get a knife of me its not good for me, i mean its common sense, but my house is littered with knifes and shit cos i am a knife liker sorta (especially butterfly knifes) see what i was leading up to is the point that where i would never use a knife on street i would deifnatley use it at home if someone was taking my weed plants, or anuything else really cos than i wouldnt be looking ot hurt the person i would be looking ot kill him, first: if he was stealing weed, hurting him will get the police informed, killing him wont and second: if he wasnt stealing weed still i dont want the fucker on my propert doing whatever he wants and getting away with it, fuck that!

shit this has been a long essay, lol why do i do that when i am high i start of with a simple point but i go all the way around the point before getting to it lol... see i did it again...

this actually kinda sad.... some 15 year old is now dead becuase some ignorant fool and his weed. Big deal some kids are stelaing plants call the cops, how fast can u run with multiple plants in your hands, follow the bud trial! lol. but still it seems this man had no reason to fire a gun, unless the two tried to attack him which it doesnt say happend or not. Its something we will probably never know. this is a sick sad world, this guy might want to make his shit a little more secure then in a shed in his back yard.
