At my school, and I'm sure many other highschools, They have already begun the talk of prom. Groups have already put their names down for beach houses down in Galveston and apparently "know" who they are going with even though it's in late April. So far, in my entire highschool career up to this point, I haven't even been invited to a single "real" party (involving alchohal and the such)and I'm pretty sure that won't be happening before the end of the year, I see no point in making any effort what-so-ever to even see if I can go to a "after-prom party". Also, since i came out of the colest I haven't evan had a single date let alone boyfreind so I'm pretty sure that I wouldn't even have a date to prom, I think I'll do the next best thing to prom and just spend 20 some-odd bucks on alchohal, probably vodka, dance by my self to some random ass music, then get drunk, and go to sleep in my room. As compared to prom, which , if I remember correctly is only an hour or two long for my school, I will be spending under 50 dollars rather than the few hundred I would spend to rent a tux and the other bull shit to go by my self and end the evening intoxicated, by myself. I'm sorry if I sounded a little emo in this, but I just feel like shit right now.
prom is gay.
i didnt wana go and wasnt planning to...only reason i did is cause some hottie i talked to in class's date dropped out at the last sec and so i took her cause she was hot.
lol.
but yeah, it was dumb.
im white, and i dont dance. dancing is lame anyway.

Yeah we call them Formals in australia. went to 2 of them and i had a blast. all the girls looked bloody gorgeous, and us guys scrubbed up pretty well too. i'm wasted in all my formal pictures (along with everyone else).
it may seem pointless, but it's an experience i think fondly of.
i didnt go, saw shrek 2 instead

Im gonna go to my junior prom but Im not renting a tux. Im probly gonna go in a t-shirt or sumthing...
I dont have anyone to go with for sure, but I know a few girls that would go with me. Im probly gonna just gonna end up going to a party and not to the prom my school is hosting. Who actually wants to pay $50-$100 for some lame music and dancing? I could get myself some sweet ganja for that money and have a way better time.

I went to mine... ooooh so many years back... I bought a dress that made me look uncannily like natasha from rocky and bullwinkle, lol, black floor length off the shoulder with a ruff of glossy black rooster tailfeathers all the way around the neckline... it was fucking awesome; all the other girls had on these stupid froofy pink girlie party dresses, lol..
But prom WAS really dumb and I remember being incredibly bored.
Why don't you do the pre-prom dinner thing with a bunch of friends anyway, it's a good way to get a taste of it without having to site through hours of watching your classmates stagger around the dance floor and have little dramas and go cry in the ladies room because their date just left with a cheerleader.
Pleeeeeeze. Spare me!

I stayed at home and smoked pot. Way cheaper and way more fun. Fuck proms. I didn't want to hang around and dance with all the assholes who treated me like shit throughout high school. And if, unlike my former self, you actually have some friends, it would be way more fun to ditch that shit and go do something that won't suck ass. You could save all the money from the limo and the suit and shit and buy yourself a nice big sack.

Thats what Im probly gonna do...skip prom and just go to the parties afterwards, get drunk, come home and smoke a fat ass blunt with some friends, watch a movie, get some food, and pass out.
Sounds good to me...better then spending all that money to dance to some shit music...and the fact that I dont listen to techno so I wouldnt know how to dance to it :p

Yes, you sound emo. :D Just kidding bro.
Fuck prom, and fuck all those goofy kids. Let me tell you something, high school is nothing. Being popular, being invited to parties, being accepted among judgemental, know it all prep fucks, has 0 influence on how the next step in your life is going to be. What matters is that you graduate, and do the best you can while you were stuck in that shitty place.
None of the things you mentioned has any relevance to what is coming after school. Most people take a year off after HS before college, some go none at all, but if you are graduating HS, I strongly reccomend you go to college. I'd take a year off if it was me. Maybe find a job and get some good work exp. under your belt, and money for the upcoming year(s) at college.
So you know what, I wouldn't even worry about those kids. Who cares if you don't have a date, who cares if you don't go a party after. None of that shit matters in real life. High school isn't real. It's what comes after HS, that is real.
If I had a prom though, I probably wouldn't even go. Getting all dressed up to dance to shit music with people I don't even like that much. Fuck that shit! High school sucks. Now college kicks ass! It did for me anyways, and I'm going back in March. That's where the fun and nice people are. People aren't as judgmental in college, as well, they're mature, and the ones who stay the same, they usually get laughed at and outcasted.
I've babbled on enough. Fuck them and fuck prom. Just stupid kids acting like drunken morons.

prom was funny for me, I went because this hot chicks didnt get asked, so i took her(more or less for her sake.) Then after the whole prom thing was over and having spent some time with her later that night, I asked her out on anohter date and she agreed. Apparently other people found out and went around spreading rumors that I had said her and I were "going out". so It fucked it all up, but other than that I had fun and danced with tons of chicks. But there were jsut as many people who didn;t have fun...subjective I guess.

Basically, everything about prom sucks besides all the well-manicured people attending. Everyone usually looks great. And the parties. The drinking is fun, too.
It's not a big deal if you don't go, but you only get a couple chances to go to one in a lifetime, ya know? It's the experience really...being with your friends and having a good time. If you can do that without spending a couple bills on a tux and dinner and being forced into hearing cheesy 80's love balads, by all means, do it.
My senior year, I fucked up by not asking my best friend (a girl ;)) when it turned out she was totally into me and I couldn't see it. Haha, I'm still kicking myself for that one.
Either way, don't stress about getting a date JUST yet. I'm guessing there's still plenty of time, so don't feel bad. I waited forever, too. ~

Nope. I didnt go when I was in highschool, and naturally I never plan on going.

Not going to mine.
I can't because I was kicked out of school and I'm not allowed to go back. That and the fact that all my friends have either dropped out and moved away or...yeah thats pretty much it most of my friends dropped out so there would be no one point in me going I suppose...

I agree with the Plant...it's definitely a once in a lifetime experience that whether or not you admit it...you might regret not going at some point later in life. Of course there's nothing wrong with not attending...but hey...why the fuck not. If anything...food...dancing...music...all your friends and people you grew up with (or not). I guess just take a little more time to think about it (this goes for everyone). Prom is kinda a pain in the ass in many respects...but like Plant said...it's really just about the experience.

I was never into dancing and didn't go to any of the typical school dances, but I went to 4 proms; girlfriend's junior/senior and my junior/senior (she was a year ahead of me). I don't know about now but back then, in the mid '80's, everyone went to "The Prom", even us stoners. Like Mac and Plant have said, it's about the experience. And, I'd be willing to bet that if you asked 100 people in their 30's who did go, and 100 people in their 30's that didn't go, a lot more people would regret not going than going.

I don't regret not going at all, but I could understand maybe feeling regret if I actually gave two shits about the people I went to high school with. Quite frankly, they were pretty much all assholes to me. The best part of my graduation was knowing that I would never see most of those fuckers again.

I went to my friends Prom at her school 4 hours away with the quarter back of the football team. That was my first prom of my Senior year. I was/am a vegetarian, well, he took me to a freakin steakhouse! How wonderful! Not to mention the school had breathalizers at the door and LEAVING.
SO that sucked.
However my own senior prom some loser dude asked me and I thought he was joking...so I got as trashed as possible and invited along my 2 friends. I fell over in my seat in the restaurant, paid for everything, puked before prom, and he ended up trying to get in my pants!
Prom is STUPID I'm glad I hardly remember mine!!!

Well that's certainly a good story to discourage any teenage boy with questionable self esteem from asking out his dream girl to prom..

I sat out in front of prom with a friend of mine and sold weed. That was a very profitable night! After the prom, we went around to different after parties and pulled pranks on people.

LOL
I could have bet money that most people here either didn't even go, or didn't like thiers. I don't know why, but it's just funny to me.
I went to prom both my jr and sr year. Had a blast. Spent the whole nite shooting the shit with the guys sipping drinks. Partied till 6 in the am. Just had an awesome time. Sometimes you just gotta get cleaned up, put on a tux and go get fucked up while dressed up. In fact, proms the only time other than my wedding that I got to wear a tux.
Go with friends and have a good time. Even if the actual prom is lame (it allways it), just having the memory of making fun of it with your friends is worth it in my book.
