I was moving one of the blue haze and one of her branches snapped!
She had been topped, so her two main branches formed a V, and one side split and snapped down:sadcrying it didn't break completely off, but almost!
I tied her back up with electrical tape, but I am so worried- will she survive? If not, I sure hope she's a boy.
Damn! First the Patriots get stomped, and now this

tape
bamboo skewers
it's all good.
you'd be suprised how much abuse the plants can take as long as they like the dirt they are in! Once they decide they don't like the growing medium, it's a different story entirely.

That's good to hear. these poor dears have had to put up with a lot so far! I am going to order some cal-mag soon.
Did you watch the game? Caldwell was pathetic- totally deer in the headlights- put down the crack pipe!

calmag? aren't you on city water? I just use silica blast... Ca, Mg, Si... good for stress reduction and adding a little extra hardness.
This is going to sound awful... I didn't watch the game!!! I couldn't!!! Once they started losing I grabbed my Scrabble board and hightailed it to the local Chinese restaurant where a few of my pals waitress and we had scrabble deathmatch since there was NO ONE coming in to eat.

Dejavu...
Liberiamom...I take it you haven't read my thread...:p
In short...same exact thing happened there. But the plant was not topped. It was the MAIN stem that broke...but did not completely break off... Also used electrical tape to fix... The leaves looked so droopy within 15 minutes, and it took a while to rebuild itself, but it did eventually start growing again...
...then the plant turned hermie and pollinated the whole crop. Yay...:(
From what I've read, it should be ok, but I'd stay on a close lookout for chiquita bananas...
Go check my thread if you got some time. Good luck with your grow. Be more careful next time...I know you will. :)

The main stem?! How long did it take to heal....you said awhile.....can you remember more specifically?I've had split branches (clean break, not crimp) heal enough via splinting to support their own weight within 1 week. During veg. (dunno about during bud) Call it 10 days to be safe. Usually heals as a nice jagged ring of scar tissue, and can be stronger at that point that original branch.
Crimps are quicker to heal, but take longer to support weight, simply because it's a crimp instead of clean fracture. And the branch will always have a weak spot, load bearing wise. I've taken crimped branches and simply cut out the crimp and grafted back together with a clean cut. Works well on larger ones. ( Stupid cat!)
If I snap meristem, I never try to fix it; and simply call it topped. The top can then be cloned or budded. So can't tell ya for sure, but imagine it'd be the same as the branches.
