bc has decriminalized marijuana only in small amounts. like you can have under an ounce on you, and if you get caught you only get a fine- no jail time. so it's still not legal. hemp has always been legal, all over canada. the US is the only industrialized nation in the world to have made hemp illegal. how hard is it to get a medical marijuana card? well you need to find a doctor and a specialist willing to sign your application. if you can do that, you will be approved. sounds much easier than it actually is, tho.

Drug regulation is under federal jurisdiction in Canada. The provincial governments have No say in the law. To answer your question, No one really fricken knows.
I’m pretty sure that under 27 grams is decriminalized. Don’t assume that’s a good thing.
Now people are tried against civil law not criminal law. A lot of things change:
-Criminal law usually requires a trial by jury. While civil has judges and thus leaves the power of punishment firmly in the hands of the government, not in the citizens (jury)
-Standard of proof is much lower in civil law. In criminal law to be found guilty: you must be guilty without “a reasonable doubt”. In civil law it is the “balance of probabilities”; which means who ever has better argument wins.
-The result for users, When you get caught with some dope you are now much more likely to see a fine under civil law. Under criminal law you would probably see a confiscation.
You wont be able to get a medical card unless you actually deserve one. If you really deserve it I hope it isn’t hard to get. I doubt you can get one unless you are Canadian.
Luckily living in Canada you wont feel the need to get one, as users aren’t targeted here.
