Referrals are when you're the reason someone else signs up at the site as a member and puts down your member name as the reason they joined.

Good question! I don't know. Not sure whether it's so they can track who influential members are, which I doubt, or whether it's simply a feature of VBulletin that comes with the system. I'll try and ask if I remember to!

Funny thing is I haven't given any negative rep and I doubt I ever will.
Anything that would offend me to that degree would be removed by the mods in an instant I think, I am pretty unshockable.
