alright so i hit my "shum" (bong without a choke, bowl in slide instead) far to much, to an unhealthy extend mostly based on the fact that there is usually as much tobacco as weed in my bowls.

i had always planed on buying a vaporizer but had always read and heard that convection vaporizers (hot air no heating element) where far superior to conduction vaporizers (weed sitting directly on an element).

i did a bunch of research into this almost 4 years ago(and it dosent seam much has changed) and at that time there where basically a bunch of shit vaporizers on both sides of the fence, mostly conduction and there was the volcano which was really the only one worth buying. but at easily over $600 Canadian that was never really a serious option, tho i did try to convince my buddies to pitch and they could come over and hit it when ever they want, that idea really didn't fly we tried it with a nice glass shum years before and one of them had the great idea to sneak threw my window and steal it while i was down stairs eating dinner because he could not wait 10 minutes to hit it. then days later since it was a "communal shum" they convinced me to take to to a party with us, in my back pack(where is stuck a good 5 inches out the top past the zipper) that we had to WALK to. it seamed like i good idea, who wouldn't like a nice bowl instead of frivolously wasting weed on joints, yeah until the surprisingly quick shutting doors of a 7/11 had something to say about it. we instantly tried to play it off like one of us dropped a glass bottle and offered to clean it up but with the shock and anger of losing such a valuable pence of glass so early in its life i just walked out more pissed then i have ever been. i still woe the day, i will get you 7/11 door don't you worry.

anyways a little of topic, where was i... o yeah so i am not rich and this is my life we are talking about but 600$ bucks common now, thats maybe $80 bucks in parts.

so other then the volcano the only other convection vaporizers i see worth buying are the vapolution (https://www.vapolutionvaporizers.com/) or some type of heat gun bowl setup which i am still kinda confused about i know you can attach them to large wine vats but i don't plan on keeping one of those around, though my parents make wine so its feasible. but apparently the huge bowls that the heat gun sits into goes directly into most bongs/shums and is used like it would be with the heat gun instead of a lighter. i am just worried about how careful i have to be, one wrong move with this huge corded heat gun and there goes the bowl possibly the shum.

if anyone has experience with either of those 2 or would recommend something else?. please let me know also how would you rate the hit from different vaporizers compared to a single bowl from shum.

thanks

I own a Vapolution. I love it man. I was in a similiar predicment as you a couple months ago. Now my lungs are singing man! You can search the boards for Vapolution and you'll see me touting this little weeed warrior all over. The only complaint so far is the bowl isn't big enough. But the highs are great, the amount needed is lesser, the taste is superior to others with the heat gun element, it's safer and affordable.

Vaporinfo.com had a connection for like 100$ or something for medical patients...I decided to just purchase through the site, but it was 125$ a couple months ago, now it looks to be 150$. Still worth the money though. I would recommend picking up a glass mouth-piece and maybe a buddy bowl too.
take care,
izzle

thanks again i have been looking into these Vapolution's and even called a bunch of head shops in my area. the word is that the majority of these get returned, and yes they have been getting better with each version but the shotty fan motor has no excuse nor can i have this thing humming loudly while iam filling up a bag, which needs to be replaced. all in all i think the best option for a convection vaporizer under 2 bills is the Vapureys. the glass top and the bulb are standard pieces available at most hardware stores. i will probably be ordering one tonight unless someone has a better idea

the vapolution has no moving parts like a fan motor. It's totally silent. I haven't had probs with mine, and how does the head shop owner know if vapolution is getting items returned?
I've tried the vapureys at a buddies and it was good too. And a bigger bowl.
Happy vaping!

i'am really sorry man i have been doing way to much research while begin far to high, my apology for some reason i thought we where talking about the Vapir one, probably because i cant find any info on the vapolution at vaporinfo.com and i immediately went to my next option the vapir one. either way i can only find it at about 150 US. so now that i remember about the vapolution no thanks to myself i'am stuck between the vapolution ad the vapureyes, basically the same price.

so i just ordered my vapureyes i should probably have it in about a week, i couldn't resist with such a robust design and replaceable parts and i can easily make a battery and carry it around. but with shipping it was 225$ CA but really for the health of my lungs its a little price to pay.

Ok.
I've been researching every single piece of vaporizers.

there are 2 for your choice.

Silver Surfer = $200

Super Vapezilla = $500

of course SVZ is better but if you can't afford, go for SS.
This is based on many many many people's reviews and my personal experience. SVZ FTW. It blows volcano away.

that should help you out.

from here : http://www.cannabisculture.com/forums/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=1099815&page=2&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1

Unresolved Controversy:
-Vapezilla uses a borosilicate glass around their whip. (See below).
- Wicked Root's marketing strategy seems overbearing and strange (reminiscent of the Vapir, to be honest). Large claims and several mirror sites dominate the web - the company, Wicked Roots, owns several different URLs and stages "reviews" that all claim their product is number one. (This is explained in much more detail below.) They also spam message boards. You can tell who works for Wicked Roots because they have links to their company in every post. Is this a bad thing? Not per se, but it's all unsubstantiated, which makes it controversial.

Price: $300 for analog model, $500 for digital (with display).

Some Terms to Know:

borosilicate glass n. - General term referring to a range of glasses containing silica (typically over 60%) and boric oxide (5-20%). Two specific glasses cover most applications: low expansion Pyrex-type glass; and highly durable 'neutral' glass. Glass fibers, ceramic glazes, and vitreous enamels are also borosilicates.

Boric Acid n. - A flame-retardant compound used to treat wood and other materials. Boric oxide has remarkable and relevant glass-forming, fluxing, and viscosity lowering properties

So why do I mention this?

Well, borosilicate glass is on the United States' EPA Toxic Substance Control Act (TSCA) inventory list. It is also considered hazardous under the criteria of the Federal OSHA Hazard Communication Standard 29 CFR 1910.1200.

Here is a link to a study which found that borosilicate glass is stable and generally safe, but poses a toxicity risk when exposed to heat and breakage (glass dust and fibers):

I had one of those units. You will enjoy the taste - just be careful not to get the bulbs too close to your herb :pimp:

Try the Vaporstar, you actually suck the heat through your weed and you can see afterwards that all the weed is well cooked
