I'm sure most people here have a music DLing program such as Limewire, Bearshare, etc. I'm going to start with a song...then whoever choses to do so...must DL that song...give it a listen or two, and leave a comment about what he/she thinks. Then they leave a song and give a little background if you can (maybe your favorite song, or just one that you think people will like)...and the next person will comment/rate it...and it goes on and on......(I hope this works out like I planned, we'll see lol)

I'll start with one that I've been listening to every morning when I wake up, because it puts me in a good mood no matter what. (It's a very nice song..nostalgic lyrics..."Unforgettable" by Nat King Cole is sampled..works well...the songs about a month old now) Actually I think everyone should DL this one and give it a listen...doesn't matter if you're old, young, or what genre you listen to...this is a feel good song and I think pretty highly of it..give it a chance lol. One of the lines is..."Why do heinous crimes help sell more records than creative minds?"...I agree.....

Nas - "Can't Forget About You"

Just to add...I hope this thread catches on...I have such a passion for music, and am always looking to expand my musical tastes and add to the playlist. Personally I will DL and listen to every song posted here, and I urge everyone to do the same if you wish. There's nothing like hearing a song you've never heard and saying to yourself..."Now that's some good music". Let the music begin....(hopfully lol)

I guess you don't HAVE to DL the song before and comment, but it would be nice...just use the quote in case multiple people pick one song. Leave a song you like either way.

Quality song to a quality album. Already had it, didn't need to d/l it.

Classic Brian Eno, the opening track to "Here Comes The Warm Jets." One of my favorite songs.

Tool - The Pot

Who are you to wave your finger?
You must have been outta your head
Eye hole deep in muddy waters
You practically raised the dead

Rob the grave to snow the cradle
Then burn the evidence down
Soapbox house of cards and glass so
Don't go tossin' your stones around

You must have been high

Foot in mouth and head up ass
So whatcha talkin' 'bout?
Difficult to dance 'round this one
'til you pull it out. boy,

You must have been so high

Steal, borrow, refer, save your shady inference
Kangaroo done hung the jury with the innocent

Now you're weeping shades of cozened indigo
(Musta) got lemon juice up in your eye
When you pissed all over my black kettle.

You must have been high!

Who are you to wave your finger?
So full of it
Eye balls deep in muddy waters
Fuckin' hypocrite

Liar, lawyer, mirror, show me. What's the difference?
Kangaroo done hung the guilty with the innocent.

Now you're weeping shades of cozened indigo
(Musta) got lemon juice up in your eye
When you pissed all over my black kettle.

You must've been...

So who are you to wave your finger?
Who are you to wave your fatty fingers at me?
You must have been out your mind

Weepin' shades of indigo
Shed without a reason *
Weepin' shades of indigo

Liar, lawyer - mirror, for you what's the difference?
Kangaroo be stoned. He's guilty as the government.

Now you're weeping shades of cozened indigo
(Musta) got lemon juice up in your eye
Now when you pissed all over my black kettle.

You must've been high!

Eyeballs deep in muddy waters
Eyeballs deep in muddy waters
Ganja? P-lease!
You must have been out your mind

LOL...it's funny because I actually used to have an ICP album when I was in middle school (Great Milenko)...I DL some of the songs last year, and was suprised by the pretty decent production that they get. Some nice beats...as for the lyrics...well...I just think of them as funny. I love the "Neden Game"...haha..pretty hilarious.

bowling balls-icp-hells pit

Friends don't come easily and this I know
And every time I make one they always say they gotta go
I wanna talk with people and look 'em in the face
I wanna take 'em home and they can stay at my place
All the talking I could do, I would never lie to you
We take a quick ride, homicide, then I confide in you
And I can love you and technically even though you're dead
You'll always be around cause I'm keeping your head

I keep heads on shelves everywhere in my cellar
I even own the melon of a dead fortuneteller
The rotted ones I keep 'em up in fat pickle jars
And the new ones we lay on the lawn and look at stars
Its illegal, I know, but so is smoking weed
And who the fuck, gives a fuck, when you have a need
I collect human heads fresh up off the neck
Face, lips, hair, nose, ears, gimme dat

Faces people know more than names
The hair is there and all the brains
Your head would mean so much to me
Your head would mean so much to me

I wont dis you, you wanna wear a hat? What?
How you want your eyelids open or shut?
Your head would mean so much to me
Your head would mean so much to me

Sometimes I put 'em in my bowling bag and bring em' to work
Play with their hair under my desk, with my bare feet
Theyre like, stuffed animals all over the bed
Human heads Pam, Jennifer, Hubert and Ted
I even put one in the shower water comes out the mouth
I kick a few around the yard when I feel like going out
I blow air in the mouth piece and duct tape it shut
Bring 'em in the pool and the heads will float up

I'm not a sicko, yo, though I've had girlfriends
I even put their makeup on and theke 'em for a spin
I'm not a murderer like that, not really
Only every Halloween the house do look kind of silly
You know the homeless people that bother you for change?
Almost all of my collection, from them is where they came
I'm not insane about it, its just the world's too crouded
And maybe I'ma do something a mother fuckin 'bout it

Faces people know more than names
The hair is there and all the brains
Your head would mean so much to me
Your head would mean so much to me

I wont dis you, you wanna wear a hat? What?
How you want your eyelids open or shut?
Your head would mean so much to me
Your head would mean so much to me

I need some therapy to help me deal with this shit
Dr. Wiggle Farmer, I need to make a visit
He told me heads are normal but I gotta brush their teeth
So now I'm brushing four mouths at a time using my feet
He also told me to keep them from the dog
But I already knew that, she chew their faces off
And then Dr. Wiggle Farmer asked me for a couple
I went into my bag and gave him two like " no trouble"

Now Ive got therapy I'm feeling much better
I'm happy forever, me and my craniums together
They all over the house and they roll around the floor
And if its got an afro I use it for a pillow
I'm ill though, I never should've worried anyway
I shoot head hoops and don't care what people say
You can ask Dr. Wiggle Farmer for yourself
He's the 3rd head down, top row, 3rd shelf

Faces people know more than names
The hair is there and all the brains
Your head would mean so much to me
Your head would mean so much to me

I wont dis you, you wanna wear a hat? What?
How you want your eyelids open or shut?
Your head would mean so much to me
Your head would mean so much to me

"I've been wasting time...drinkin...smokin...tryna free my miiiind"

"It's been a couple months in this smokey room, eatin' shrooms, drinkin' boons, writin' tunes, hoping to get...one of these mothafuckin songs to hit"

TooL [Disgustipated]

-And the angel of the Lord came unto me, snatching me up from my place of slumber. And took me on high, and higher still until we moved to the spaces betwixt the air itself. And he brought me into a vast farmlands of our own midwest. And as we descended, cries of impending doom rose from the soil. One thousand, nay a million voices full of fear. And terror possesed me then. And I begged, "Angel of the Lord, what are these tortured screams?" And the angel said unto me, "These are the cries of the carrots, the cries of the carrots! You see, Reverend Maynard, tomorrow is harvest day and to them it is the holocaust." And I sprang from my slumber drenched in sweat like the tears of one million terrified brothers and roared, "Hear me now, I have seen the light! They have a consciousness, they have a life, they have a soul! Damn you! Let the rabbits wear glasses! Save our brothers!" Can I get an amen? Can I get a hallelujah? Thank you Jesus.-

-It was daylight when you woke up in your ditch. You looked up at your sky then. That made blue be your color. You had your knife there with you too. When you stood up there was goo all over your clothes. Your hands were sticky. You wiped them on your grass, so now your color was green. Oh Lord, why did everything always have to keep changing like this. You were already getting nervous again. Your head hurt and it rang when you stood up. Your head was almost empty. It always hurt you when you woke up like this. You crawled up out of your ditch onto your gravel road and began to walk, waiting for the rest of your mind to come back to you. You can see the car parked far down the road and you walked toward it. "If God is our Father," you thought, "then Satan must be our cousin." Why didn't anyone else understand these important things? You got to your car and tried all the doors. They were locked. It was a red car and it was new. There was an expensive leather camera case laying on the seat. Out across your field, you could see two tiny people walking by your woods. You began to walk towards them. Now red was your color and, of course, those little people out there were yours too.-

As for your techno...I know what you mean about the substance thing (see the thread labeled 'new anti-drug ad' or something like that by Slipknotpsycho)...but I've never actually been to one of those 'parties'...we always chilled when we indulged..would be interesting though. This is a COC classic.......

Children of the Corn Fair One, Part 1 (Fucking With Two Known Felons) Lyrics
[Bloodshed]
Yo, don't cross the line if you afraid of the guage
I smell ya pussy, I can see the bitch running down your leg
You fuckin' with a well known felon, I do more than just leave ya swellin
I'll blast you in your melon and leave you smellin

[Cam'Ron]
Plus I'm into crucifixtion, maracos kills the fixes
Presidents the purest nixion but they out their jurisdiction
This kid we kidnapped, got rushed in the basement
He was busting with Mason, jumpin probation
And killed without no justification

[Bloodshed]
Word up, take off the safety and insert the clip
Then I start to flip, not soft like dicks, inside porno flicks
Up under my tongue is where my blade rest
My 12 guage stretch, is even more scarier than the Aids test

[Cam'Ron]
I had a fight with a seven footer, he wouldn't drop
Pulled the glock, left him frozen like a Pudding Pop
My madness couldn't stop
There's something about me that just love's killin'

[Bloodshed]
Don't make it a habit G, or I'm extinguish two in your cavity
Cause where I'm from it's like a ghost town
We packing toast clown, fuck around
Your bitch ass will get a broke crown

[Cam'Ron]
And the Killa got real weight, semi-autos I feel hate
In between my ears and my head I got steel plates
So get that ass flamed, in my head I got brass frames
Horror's my last name, with mad fame
To last forever like grass stains

[Bloodshed]
Mad niggaz dream about taken mines
But if they do, they get their brain stitched up just like FrakenStein
Cause Bloodshed's known for jacking crabs
When I act with mags, I leave fags
Soaking blood like Maxi pads

[Cam'Ron]
Aiyo, when it comes to bread, niggaz make loafs
You run around with fake toast
Money or your life, nigga I'll take both
I hate the heavens and you shady reverends
Niggaz like +90210+, I'm like Killa Cam, +187+

[Both]
Well how ?do cruel? for ya rollin a few
Gotta stay alert for goons ....they be calling us 'Doom'

[Cam'Ron]
You'll get departed if you come up in here son
Cause yo, there's no such thing as a FAIR ONE

[Bloodshed]
My streets is smothered with dirty brothers
That kill other niggaz mothers, just to get on newspaper covers

[Cam'Ron]
Aiyo, you'll get departed if you come up in here son
Cause yo, there's no such thing as a FAIR ONE

[Bloodshed]
My skills are sharper than a prize fighter
My right hook and left hook is guaranteed to leave your eyes tighter
Out of my crew I am the loc'est one, so don't provoke the strung
Or my smoking gun, will leave you choking son
I tell the truth, so you should all figure
My double four trigger's +Above The Law+ like that Segal nigga
And I'm a buddah head until I'm dead
And ain't no changing Bloodshed
'Nuff bread, enough said

[Cam'Ron]
Plus I deal with 'caine
Enemies tried to peel my brain
So feel the pain, but I got steel to flame
Knuckle game is still the same nigga
Load the pistols, I'm about the scorch like missles
Any gatway blow the whistle, coach stacks inside the Folgers Crystals
I got the techs when I guard my type
Looking for a spar to light, who's hard tonight?
Nobody so I'll start a fight
And fuck a broken Becks, I'll yoke your necks
I walk around with a smoking tech, a trey 8
So vacate or get soakin' wet

And some man live his life
For profits alone
That very same man
He lives his life all alone
And the road to life
Yes it goes up and down
Doesn't really matter
As long as the music goes on
Hey mister collie man
Why don't you come round no more
Hey mister collie collie man
Don't you hear me troubled call
Hey mister collie man
Look i didn't come to disturb
You best not be come 'round here
Unless you've got me sensi herb
I never needed any
Reason for me to say
Through all them troubled times
Yes me love you any way
And the roughest path
You know the rocky rocky road
You know that
Life and love is a
Heavy heavy load
Hey mister collie man
Why don't you come 'round no more
Hey mister collie collie man

All I can picture is the color of your eyes and the way you make me smile
Haven't felt this in a while

Bob Marley "Redemption Song"

Old pirates, yes, they rob I;
Sold I to the merchant ships,
Minutes after they took I
From the bottomless pit.
But my hand was made strong
By the 'and of the Almighty.
We forward in this generation
Triumphantly.
Won't you help to sing
These songs of freedom? -
'Cause all I ever have:
Redemption songs;
Redemption songs.

Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery;
None but ourselves can free our minds.
Have no fear for atomic energy,
'Cause none of them can stop the time.
How long shall they kill our prophets,
While we stand aside and look? Ooh!
Some say it's just a part of it:
We've got to fulfil de book.

Won't you help to sing
These songs of freedom? -
'Cause all I ever have:
Redemption songs;
Redemption songs;
Redemption songs.
Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery;
None but ourselves can free our mind.
Wo! Have no fear for atomic energy,
'Cause none of them-a can-a stop-a the time.
How long shall they kill our prophets,
While we stand aside and look?
Yes, some say it's just a part of it:
We've got to fulfil de book.
Won't you help to sing
Dese songs of freedom? -
'Cause all I ever had:
Redemption songs -
All I ever had:
Redemption songs:
These songs of freedom,
Songs of freedom.

UB 40 - Sunshine Reggae
Sublime - New Realization
Easy Star All-Stars - Airbag

And I'll recommend one album you probably never heard of, but it's so damn good, the songwriter quit making music. I don't blame him, that album is pretty hard to top.

Neutral Milk Hotel - In An Aeroplane Over The Sea

That should be enough variety for your plate mac. I'll d/l the songs you recommended since this thread isn't quite working out the way it should. I love listening to new music, that goes beyond your comfort zone. I wouldn't have discovered many artists if I stood steadfast.

did you happen to catch
or did it happen so fast
what you thought would always last
has passed you by
is everything speeding up
or am I slowing down
just spinning around
and I don't know why
all the pieces don't fit
thought I really didn't give a shit
I never wanted to be like you
but for all I aspire
I am really a liar
and I'm running out of things I can do

I'd like to stay
but every day
everything pushes me further away
if you could show
help me to know
how it's supposed to be
where did it go?

pleading and
needing and
bleeding and
breeding and
feeding
exceeding
where is everybody?
trying and lying
defying denying
crying and dying
where is everybody?

well okay, enough,
you've had your fun
but come on there has to be someone
that hasn't yet become
so numb and succumb
and god damn I am so tired of pretending
of wishing I was ending
when all I'm really doing is trying to hide
and keep it inside
and fill it with lies
open my eyes?
maybe I wish I could try

pleading and needing
and bleeding and breeding
and feeding exceeding
where is everybody?
trying and lying
defying denying
crying and dying
where is everybody?

Do you also listen to Akrobatik or Esoteric by any chance?

Thanks guys for the tracks. Shitload of 'em. Am I crazy...because I haven't heard of most of those bands/singers from the last big list. Anyway, this thread is for everyone...no just me...I'm sure there are some people out there learning some new stuff from this thread as well.

I haven't heard Akrobatik's solo stuff, but heard him with Lif and Fakts One when they formed The Perceptionists. Black Dialogue a must have in the collection :)

I also didn't know NAS was this damn good. I taken a liking to the Hip-hop Is Dead album. So I did learn something as well :) And I hope everyone gain appreciation to taking in some new music they wouldn't have otherwise bothered to listen to or discover.

Oh man...I also think 'Hip Hop Is Dead' is a solid quality album. The good news is it's probably his fourth best album. You HAVE to DL "Illmatic"...1994...that's the album he's known for...one of the best in history. Then "It Was Written" has some unbelievable shit on it. His next two albums after that were kind of no good for some reason....then he came back with "Stillmatic" in 2001 and that blew me and the hip hop world away once again. So I'd suggest at least getting a few of those if not all three..you won't be dissapointed...if you like Nas nowadays...you'll love his stuff back in the day and a few years back...when he was in his prime (I guess he kinda still is though).

While we are on the subject of Nas. "I Gave You Power" I believe is not only one of the best hip hop songs of all time...but best songs of all time (no bullshit)...the whole song is a metaphor..it's got a storyline in there...and the details are down to a pin....Amazing...You gotta listen through the whole song though..each verse gets better and relays back to the preceding verse.

Here's another one of the most creative songs ever thought up (read the quotes carefully)...whoever reads it is going to have to DL it..I guarentee..it's a lot better in sound than text trust me. (Most of his songs don't condone violence like this...but it's a fact of life, and he decribes it very skillfully).

Nas - "Rewind"

Listen up gangstas and honeys with ya hair done
Pull up a chair hon' and put it in the air son
Dog, whatever they call you, god, just listen
I spit a story backwards, it starts at the ending

The bullet goes back in the gun
The bullet hole's closin this chest of a nigga
Now he back to square one
Screamin, "Shoot don't please"
I put my fifth back on my hip
It's like a VCR rewindin a hit
He put his hands back on his bitch
My caravan doors open up
I jumped back in the van and closed it shut
Goin reverse, slowly prepared
My nigga Jungle utters out somethin crazy like, "Go he there"
Sittin in back of his chair, we hittin the roach
The smoke goes back in the blunt, the blunt gets bigger in growth
Jungle unrolls it, put his weed back in the jar
The blunt turns back into a cigar
We listen to Stevie, it sounded like heavy metal fans
Spinnin records backwards of AC/DC
I give my niggas dap, jump out the van back first
Back upstairs, took off the black shirt
I'm in the crib with the phone to my ear
Listen up so y'all can figure out the poem real clear
The voice on the phone was like, "Outside right we"
So with my mouth wide, holdin my heat
Bullets I had plenty to squeeze, plenty for ya
'Cause Jungle said, "Block your on enemies the"
Hung up the phone, then the phone rang <phone ringing>
I'm laid in the bed thinkin 'bout this pretty young thing
Who left, she came back, her clothes just fell to the rug
She fell to my bed and gave me a hug
I told her, "No hell"
She talkin 'bout, "Me kiss"
Bobbed her head then spit the nut back in my dick
Started suckin with no hands, a whole lotta spit
Then got up and put her bra back on her tits
Got fully dressed and told me, "Stressed really I'm"
Picked up her Gucci bag and left her nigga behind
Walkin through the door, she rang the bell twice
I vomited Vodka back in my glass with juice and ice
The clock went back from three, to two, to one
And that's about the time the story begun
That's when I first heard the voicemail on the cell
It said, "Son we found that nigga we gotta kill"
<Message Beep>
Ay yo son, ay yo son, you hear me, you hear me?
Listen man, this dude right on the block, right now, man
I found him, right now, I see him right now!
Let's kill him)
<Message Beep>
"Yo, this Nas, leave it. Peace"

The song uses a sample from Iron Butterfly's "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida". If you've ever heard another Nas song called "Thief's Theme"...it uses the same drum sampled just slowed down a bit. "Hip Hop Is Dead"...the song...is pretty good, but it's definitely one of my least favorites on the album. I really don't think he should have used it as his first single...maybe second or third.

Then again, I hate when people judge artists/albums because of the first single. It's usually just a catchy..sometimes corny song...that is most of the time the worst or one of the worst songs on the album. Jay-Z and Eminem have perfected this...but if you listen to the rest of their albums...the single always stands alone in it's catchiness and/or corniness lol.
