Oh man, I just got back from my first set of two classes for college. Classrooms full of guys and girls who think they are the greatest thing on earth. I mean I get along with everyone fine, but mostly when I meet people I just sense this aura of assholeness. When a person doesn't have that however, I usually become friends with that person.
Jesus, not again! This shit is getting old. Anyone else get tired of this same old shit?

Haha.
The two are definitely different in their own rights, but oddly enough, they are all too the same. People trying to impress people, for a date or whatever.
But it still beats high school for the sole reason that we're not stuck in class all day. However, the work is substantially lengthier. But it's a step closer to being *free*.

I notice the aura of assholeness with most people......
I don't like people who try to show up others, and talk about themselves like they are a gift from god.
It's not just school. It's the same way at work sites and such. Everywhere.....
But just like a cool breeze, march to the beat of your own drum. Be nice to everyone :)

?
Ugh I remember that from college. Yuckeroos.
But the funny thing is, now I realize that the asshole-itude was probably more of a defense mechanism for most of those people, who are just as nervous as you are meeting a WHOLE new crowd, in a whole new place...
Some people just deal with stress by becoming jerks, and some people just smoke a bowl and ignore it, and others deal with it by diving into their work (fucking nerds! Always blowing the curve lol!!!!) and not talking to anyone!
But every time you have to deal with them, remember that they are not going to make big points being like that, and by the time graduation rolls around, they will have been through more roommate drama, more social mishaps, more irritated professors, and eventually more interviews gone bad because of their overall bitchiness... leaving you nice guys coming off looking pretty damn good!
So hey, they are doing you a favor in the long run.
And you're getting closer to wOOT financial freedom and your very own awesome pad to grow all the ganj you could ever want!
:D

I loved high school. Did alot of drinkin' fuckin' and skippin'. I was even prom king/homecoming king. (small school ~100 per class)
I love college. Do alot of drinkin' fuckin' skippin' and smokin'.
I don't really know alot of people from class, everyone I know I meet at parties. I keep to myself while in class unless someone really has to talk to me.
Keep your school friends and your party friends separate.

well.. apart from the skippin part but still, if you skip so much.. why even bother going? you can still do those 3 other things WITHOUT going college.. and you wont be wasting teachers time either

If you aren't going to college then you are most likely working. I refuse to work while I am still in school. I can work the rest of my life. (which i won't but you know what i mean).
You have to realize that college is alot different from high school. My professors don't know my name. They don't care about my grade. They could have up to 1000 students in their lectures in one day. (i go to one of the biggest schools in the US and we've actually got the biggest campus in the US)
As long as they get my $65k dollars in exchange for a degree, they don't care. I am not wasting anyones time which is why I go for classes where there are 4-5 tests and thats it. No assignments.
I agree billion, school is a waste of money.....its mainly about that piece of paper that gets you a $40k/yr job off the bat doing some job a monkey could do.

When I went to college to get my HS, the people there were awesome. I mean, there would be the odd one person who annoyed you, but that was only in my one class on my last year. It was due to being there for almost 2 straight years too. Doing upgrading is in a compressed time period. While HS is a jackoff session with Sept-June periods, in college, each class was in 3 months. All the lessons, plus final exam, so I guess after that long, I was at wits end and was very tired.
Anyways, sounds like this is HS to me. People aren't immature like they are in HS, think they "are the greatest thing on earth." That's HS man. College is pretty chill and not so judgemental.
How do you know they think they are the greatest things on earth? Did they announce it somehow? Or are these just things that you're imagining? ;)

you know a lot of the time, people will be a jerk off to you, when they can tell you think they are a jerk off...
College is highschool plus, But get over it, there are a lot of people who go to college to learn and get the fuck out of there. Just meet the right people. You're not going to do so by thinking everyone is an asshole when you first meet people.
mostly when I meet people I just sense this aura of assholeness. When a person doesn't have that however, I usually become friends with that person.
No doubt youre a good person, but based off this i wouldnt invite you back to my place to smoke a bowl. I tend not to like people who dislike me for no reason.

  Yo,
Its a bad idea to star out a reply "You have no idea what your talking about", when that very statement applies to you. It has been well documented that those with a HS (College in UK) diploma make more then someone without one. Those with a (US) College degree make more then those with only a (US) HS diploma. Sure there are a few exceptions, there always are; that is not the point. I am happy you have money to buy food, good job! However the fact of the matter is, as a whole, the higher level of education you gain the more cash you will have. Sorry I had to be the one to break it to you.
Maybe you would have learned this if you stayed in school. :)

In the US, you can't even get by without ~20k/year. I personally use about 15k/year but I budget and I am still in college....and I still don't get everything I need and I also live in an area with a *low* cost of living.
A decent pay rate wo/degree in the US is about 12/hr. Thats medicore work. Shoveling shit gets you about 6/hr. That is about 13k/yr and 26k/yr respectively. Not great.
Not only does a degree help you earn a higher salary, but it puts you in a position to get full insurance for you and your family. $$$
So yeah, if a person is all Bill Gates-smart-don't-need-no-stupid-college.....then yeah, all a degree does is help you get a leg up.
If you are more like me, more common sense than brains, get your ass to college, get a degree and thank yourself for it in the end. With loans nowadays, *anyone* can go to college if they wanted. Besides, college is fuckin' awesome.

Well im so glad im an exception.
Qualification mean nothing. It's a bit of paper.
You have two people waiting for a job. One has all the qualifications in the world, the other [me] has absolutly none.
The guy with the qualifications cant fix an engine, the guy without the qualifications can. Who do they hire? Me.
If you want something enough, qualifications dont come into it. You dont need them to get a job, you need to WANT the job, and do everything to can to get it.

I know people with their little A+ certs and all that bullshit and they can't even config a router.

Oh no, I totally agree. I know my way around an internal combustion engine just as good as the next person and know how it is when someone talks about something they either know nothing about or think they know.
Just because you have the qualifications/certifications doesn't mean it will get you a job. But a degree/certification is usually a tie breaker.
Alot of jobs here in the US, if you don't have a degree, don't bother. But then again its always about who you know.
My friend just got a job literally 30 feet from his house selling oilfield equipment for 57k/yr. No he doesn't have a petroleum degree, but he is qualified (learned everything from his father) and the job was offered to him. If the job wasn't offered and he didn't know the owner of the company and he came to him with his lame ass HS Diploma and degree, he would be laughed right out of the room.

That's how i got my job. I already knew the owners of the boat yard i work for now, they knew me before i was born lol, i was jut a bump. So, they've seen me grow up. I've grown up knowing them. So all these years later im working for em. I mean, i wanted to do marine engineering since i was about 6, and i was so determined, i just went hell for leather for it and got it. Yes, i know im lucky, but it's not impossible.
I know qualifications help, lol, it's obvious rofl, but they're not the most important thing. The most important thing is that you can show them you can do the job to a profesional level, know everything about what your working with, can do it quickly and effeicently and want to do it.

You really sound like a child. My Daddy makes more than your Daddy.
We were discussing education and the increase in earning power that goes with it.
Instead of admitting you were off base and missed the point like an adult you act out like a child. Your posts on this topic here are non sensical.
All the research and facts that point to how staying in school increases your earning power mean little to the uneducated I guess.
You sound like the type of person who doesnt admit it when they are wrong. That's the type of person I want as a manager, some tool who's going to try and deflect the topic in order to serve their interest.
Tell the truth you have something on the owner at work. You caught him with another man, right? Is that it?
Lay off the meds then reread the topic of discussion. Admit you were wrong, apologize, and move on.

Relative social or official rank, dignity, or position.
To make more money, because my job is not going to be my life, just yet another tool i use to get what i want, and to do what i want. I love my hobbies and intrests, I work my job to beable to have the money and time to do them more.
I'm not saying loving your job is wrong lip, I happen to have one i love right now, but i will move on, I will make more money, and even though i might not like it as much as my old one, i don't have to, its my job, not my life.

   1. A regular activity performed in exchange for payment, especially as one's trade, occupation, or profession.
Thats how i take it. I'm going to school so i can get my
degree
Relative social or official rank, dignity, or position.
To make more money, because my job is not going to be my life, just yet another tool i use to get what i want, and to do what i want. I love my hobbies and intrests, I work my job to beable to have the money and time to do them more.
I'm not saying loving your job is wrong lip, I happen to have one i love right now, but i will move on, I will make more money, and even though i might not like it as much as my old one, i don't have to, its my job, not my life.
That's another thing i didnt mention. My job IS one of my hobbies, so in reality, im enjoying doing my hobby and being paid for it. I have all the money i want, i dont need anything else, which is why i dont need to move to another company. If i had stayed at school i would have been bored, probably skipped all my classes, and i wold have been wasting time when i could have been working. So leaving school worked out for the best, for me. It can do for others too.
PigSnout... how childish can you get?
You dont know me, you dont know anything.
For information, i am a manager, and i make a hell of alot of money doing it.
I smoke more weed than the average person, without it effecting my life.
My life is a good one, for the most part.
Your obviously jealous, or just very arrogant. Or maybe your just a little child.
But this: "
You are not in management. What company would hire an ill mannered grease monkey like you for a management position? Put the toilet seat up after you squat to take a leak bitch."
That's not insultive, it's just funny to see a child like you try your damn hardest to insult me. Lets hope a mod just bans you, it's not like kiddies that post that kind of shit are wanted on these boards.
ONe day your gunner get larey to the wrong person and they'll kill you.

A degree means everything here in the USA.
I went to a job interview about a year ago. I was up against 1 other person. He had a degree, i didn't. I proved that i could go over and above the job requirements.
It came down to him having a degree, and me not having one. It's as simple as that. If you don't have a degree around here, you're not saying much (no matter how much you know, you will have to work your way up from a $10/hr job). I'd rather work my way up starting at $20/hr.
This was a Finance job and him and i both had computer backgrounds. He is also a minority, which could have played a part (equal opportunity).

And honestly, it's not much money if you choose the right place or you do things right. My job paid for 80% of my tuition. I am stuck paying about $4000 over the course of 4 years (this includes books). So yeah, a BS in Computer Science for $4000? Count me in

Wether he's banned or not does not give you the right to call him a prick and act like a kid.
You should've been equally infracted for this little piss fest but you weren't..
So for not letting something go and attacking a member here.. you can take a vacation.
Enjoy,
Bob.
