unless they use blank, this is fucked up.. if they do use blanks then ignore the post for obvious reasons :p
ok cops are always telling us it's dangerous to shoot up in the air cuz the bullet will come down at some point.. and blah blah blah, make anyone who owns a gun and shoots up to seem like in irresponsible twit....
YET, everytime a service man dies, it's all of the sudden 'ok' to shoot 21 bullets up in the air... so wtf? i wish they'd make up their minds whether it is dangerous or not.

actually, they did use to use live ammo for the 21 gun salute, but then people started dying so they switched to blanks.

in a combat zone a gun salute is rendered with rifles pointed at the ground so as not to do that(send stray bullets out)
anyone know the origin of the gun salute?

like i said if they use blanks ignore it lol... i guess atleast they practice what they preach...
and no i have no idea where the gun salute started
and don't even get me started on bb/pellet guns... 90% of my interactions with cops was because of my guns (i've owned by now probably a good 20-30 of them) i even almost got shot by a cop with one, one time.. i had the daisy bb pistol that looked EXACTLY like a .44 desert eagle, including slide action... and some douche called the cops on me saying i was shooting my dog (i loved that dog more than anything i'd never shoot him) and a cop came around to my back yard, saw me with the gun (it looked real) and pulled his gun on me (i was all of 8 or 9 lol) and started screaming "PUT THE GUN DOWN! GET ON THE FUCKING GROUND!!!" i was just kinda stunned and i turned around with gun in hand and i saw that look of fear in the cops eyes where he was trying to decide whether to shoot me or scream at me some more... after about 20 seconds it finally clicked "oh shit, this dude is gonna shoot me!!" so i pointed the gun at myself (not like a suicidal type movment, just enough to let him know i wasn't being aggresive or anything) and sat the gun down on the ground, then followed...

looked alot like that one, except it didn't have the ridges on it (it was all smooth) and it was a bb gun, not a pelet gun.

i saw this on the mythbusters one time. they went out into the desert and shot a bb gun into the ground then measured how deep it went,, then shot a rifle into the air and when it hit the ground they measured it and it wasnt as deep as the bb shot into ground. they said a bullet that comes down after being shot into the air would do no more than give you a small welt

i saw that too... but at the end they showed coverage/footage whatever you wanna call it on people and their families who were killed/injured by rouge bullets coming back down to earth.

Sometimes i hate mythbusters, they aren't as smart as they try to act.
A bullet has like 50 times the mass of a BB how the fuck could they even compare a real gun to a BB gun. A bb gun might go 100ft sec but a bullet from a gun travels at 1000-4000ft per second.
I hate how they try something and then say its impossible but its happened to plenty of people. like how they said CD's cant explode in the drive because they tried spinning one with a drill. Yet I know so many people who have had CD's 'pop' and shatter and ruin their CD drives.
Mythbusters is full of retards.

They all use blanks.
The IRA however, use live ammunition.
A bullet falling through the air will kill, anyone who seriously thinks it wont is plain stupid.
you've all heard that if you through a penny off the eifel tower it can kill people standing at the bottom, well that's basically the same thing that happens with a bullet.
Gravity pulls at 32.2 feet per second... No one would survive being hit by a falling bullet.
