Would it be possible to use a 120volt 40watt lightbulb from a lava lamp as a grow light? My plant is about a week old and 5" tall. I feel really bad for my plant since it can only get 2-3 hours of sunlight a day since i am not normally home and cant keep it out in the open. I know I should use a real grow light but this is mainly just a experimentive fun grow. Thanks for all your help! :D

You can put a CFL in that socket and hang it over your plant that may help but other then that is's .....Nope.

Good luck with your plant I hope it makes it.

by my bad math you could illuminate a 6" circle with that bulb and possible grow the smallest plant ever in the longest amount of time

No, not with the actual lava lamp bulb. It's not the correct light spectrum.

I have actually tryed that once. . . i used a speaker box ass a "grow room" i guess u can say.i hung the lava lamp upside down from the top of the box. . .it did the trick for a little bit but after about a week or two my plants would jus slump over and die, i thought it would work myself, i still did just intill i read this, i figured having my plant closed into a speaker box wasent allowing Co2 inside and thats what killed it, but what do i know :wtf:
