KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia: Police detained three Africans and a Saudi Arabian in central Malaysia for possession of marijuana, all of whom could face the death penalty if they are found guilty of trafficking, a news report said Wednesday.

The four students â?? two Kenyan women, an Eritrean man and the Saudi national â?? were detained at their rented apartment in Cyberjaya town Saturday, the New Straits Times reported.

All four were students at a nearby college and are aged from 18 to 22. Their identities were not disclosed.

The students face death by hanging under Malaysia's harsh anti-drug laws if found guilty.

District Police Chief Zahedi Ayob was quoted as saying that raiding officers found four slabs of marijuana and various small plastic packets with the drug in powdered form, a total of about four kilograms (9 pounds) estimated to have a street value of about 7,200 ringgit (US$1,982; â?¬1,547).

The students tested positive for drugs and have been remanded for a week to aid investigators trying to determine whether more people were involved. The four were suspected to have been supplying drugs to other students in their college, the report added.

A police spokesman declined to comment. Zahedi was not immediately available for further details as he was in a meeting Wednesday morning, his office said.

That is fucking ridiculous. Sentence murderers to death, not potheads/pot dealers. What a bunch of lamers. Also, that is a lot of weed, and it's only estimated to be worth about $1,500 USD? Must be some mexican brick.

9 pounds for under $2000. What are they doing in Malaysia? They should have come to America and 10x their money without facing the harshest laws on the planet.

ronald reagan believed that those who sold cannabis should be excuted. As did...
Rick Sweeny (r)ny)
Newt Ginrich (former speaker of the house)
Mark Souder (r-indiana)
Senator Brownback (r-Kansas)
John Mica (r-fla)
John Ashcroft (r- attorney general)
Dan Burton (r-indiana)

and quite a few others.
We dont face death? yet?
some people in prison for marijuana crimes face death , rape, disease, departure from their families, beatings, families being torn apart, dogs being shot, wrong address busts that result in shooting death of occupants, etc etc. everyday in america.

Newt Ginrich introduced the , Marijuana death act, in congress.

Well, if the rules change here then I'm moving out of the US right away... as for now, I like this country a lot more because of what could happen if you get caught somewhere else compared to here.

The tobbaco and Alcohol Commissions fund the war on cannabis/drugs.
The lobbiest for both of these deadly entites pay good money to make sure no person smokes anything but their products and drink nothing but their products to get a buzz on.

Our government has sold our freedoms of choice to the highest bid.
Our government is willing to cage us at the request of their corporate friends.
They ruin our lives, our families, threaten our jobs, take our property, steal our kids, and stick us in cages with violent murder's and rapist.

And they tell us Saddam was dangerous and deadly to those around him?
geesh.
The blame is rightfully put on the usa government for promoting such an illegal act of "justice"

Notice how our country isnt speaking out against the execution?
Stand by and watch a perfectly healthy human being be put to death for possessing a non toxic plant?
fucking americans better wake up.
Our government doesnt care about us being hooked on drugs so much as they care about whos drugs it is we are hooked on.
We are spending billions per year in Columbia to kill the coca crop, while we grow and sell the deadly tobacco crop worldwide and force it upon nations.
I'll bet any person here that american grown tobacco kills more columbians than columbian grown cocaine kills americans.

They say Osama killed 3000 americans in one day?
The tobacco industry kills 460,000 per year.
Lets see.....thats about...umm.....my math sucks..........ummmmm......
30 or so planes per year , right into a building.
