my little brother has cystic fibrosis. every few days he does these massage exercises that require him to lay down for long periods of time. he used to play on his Gameboy, but has recently taken up writing rap songs after he bought a Blackalicious CD. this is what he wrote a while ago, its been on the fridge. i really dont like rap, but i thought this was cool. im proud of him.

dont hate if you can't relate
to these problems that i'm going thru
even if they seem small to you
to me its a big thing, a hard thing,
heart felt, no self
emotional thing
i spit truth and all you can do
is disrespect, disbelieve
these things that happen to me
this aint hollywood,
this aint malibu
this is true, this is true, this is true.
i keep a paint ball gun under my bed
and i cant help wonder
what if it were real
how would it feel
if i put the barrel to my head.
these thoughts
these things
the words that i sing,
what if they were real too
i wonder what you would do.
would you cry, would you scream
would you turn off your t.v.
would you buy yourself a notebook and write yourself a letter
'feel better, feel better, feel better'?
we'll id write myself a beat
and keep it locked in my brain
so i could rhyme myself some goodness
when life brings me pain.

Wow, he's smarter than 95% of this country that takes hip hop music wayyy too literally. He understands they are just playing character roles, and are not actually going to 'blow your head off with the 9' lol.

That's really a great way to put it...if you want to listen to R-rated (adult) music...get some rap, if you want bubble-gum PG go get Britney Spears. But don't complain when you hear the lyrics....you were warned.

A lot of people just don't get it....but your brother does...smart kid.

Your brother is intelligent. He conveyed his emotions eloquently and I could feel them. Give him props for me. Peace!

Nice lyrics, Bizzle. So sorry your brother has CF. Does he struggle with it a lot? I hope not.

mad props to little Bizzle, i know how hard it can be to lay down your thoughts on a piece of paper and make them flow, not easy, but ur brother seemed to nail it down, put his emotions well in place, well done. my support to little bizzle.

That's good to hear. I have a former colleague from work who has CF and hasn't had it acutely, and she's 48 years old now and still going strong. I think she's even been the subject of several studies and research papers in this area. Pretty good success story!
