Jeezy's new album is whack IMO. Beats are boring and Jeezy sounds tired as a rapper. There is no big hit on this album either, compared to last year's Soul Survivor.
mainstream rap is played out listen to some underground shit like mf doom, aesop rock, people under the stairs, a tribe called quest

I can see why people like this new album. But I just can't get into it.
I'm too much of a underground hip-hop head.
Except till one day what we call underground hip-hop today, will be back in the Mainstream, like it was in the late 80's early 90's.
One day....
i like the song with project pat where he keeps goin i need a hoody hood hood rat. underground rap can lick my chode

that track hypnotize is nasty. jeezy thowed than a mothafucker. his ad libs are sick and he got good wordplay. if you like down south shit, i strongly recommend that new mixtape messiah 2. chamillionaire is def one of the sickest comin out the south (right behind UGK imho) but check out his website, he's giving the whole mixtape away for free to promote his next CD. download it now if you're a fan of ALL hip hop, I promise you won't be disappointed.

He's one of the reasons 'hip hop is dead'. Yelling "Ayeeeee" and "Dammmmnnn" in every song (sometimes more like every friggin' bar) gets old quick. Lyricism is pretty pathetic...some things I think are funny....but I don't think he wanted them to be lol.

Or he's making that claim because he's right. It's not necessarily dead, but it has strayed away from the material it should be know for. "Walk it out" and all that shit from the South, how could you say he's wrong?....come on now...that's not even music, it's like a little kid's nursery rhyme...just horrendous. ALL that shit is a publicity stunt...I hope they or anyone doesn't actually think that shit is good. And he said himself, he doesn't just mean the South...it's just that most shitty 'music' comes from there...50 Cent is also a target and he comes from NY too. Nas is just saying what everyone else is thinking.
funny that all the people he bitches about sell more than him and you still say it is what everyone is thinking.
fuck your fake ass gangsta rappers

Nas outsold jeezy in his first week, and was at #1, who had better numbers than nas's album? Other than Jay-z, but he's East too.....

Who the fuck really cares about album sales? Does that make 50 Cent better than ANYONE just because he out sold them. No fucking way...that's crazy talk. If you sell 10 million records, it's because 8 million little girls bought the album...does 50 Cent get respect from any lyrical artists? Hell no.
And yes, Nas debuted at #1 LOL...and he's not really bitching so to say...just one statement and he has a genre going crazy about it....that's just plain old power and respect right there.
Seriously if your a Jeezy fan, that's cool....but if you argue against Nas about Jeezy and all that crappy music....that's just funny...and pointless, because we both know it's bullshit.
Edit: Sorry for coming at you like that 'suhl'...obviously you're just a young kid who knows shit about music...so I took you the wrong way. My bad.
please all you rap fans stop telling me to listen to underground shit. please please please. i dont care to hear metaphors about the mystery of life or how tough life on the street is over a beat that could be made in 15 minutes on a drum machine and a key board, i really really dont. when i want to hear beats and rap i want to hear about fucking bitches getting high selling drugs and killing people. im not a jeezy fan

honestly, you can't compare jeezy to nas. jeezy is a different type of rapper, and you have to understand he's not a lyricist. jeezy raps for dope boys, that's it. and if i did compare jeezy and nas it would be in street cred. Has nas done all the shit he claims to have? No. Has Jeezy? Yep. Lyrics=Nas wins. Realness=Jeezy.

as far as "coke" rap goes. Ghostface Killah is the king.
rap isnt good, if you knew anything about music youd appreiciate that. i mean it is cool to listen to now and then, but in real music the music expresses just as much as the lyrics if not more. ie if their werent lyrics in a song you get the feeling. in rap the music has no meaning at all and is thrown together. have you ever played around witha drum machine or a nice studio keyboard coming up with good beats is not nearly as hard as you think. no one over the age of thirty who isnt a rapper himself listens to rap regularly. that really doesnt mean anything but for the most part its true.

LOL dude, I can't stop laughing at this..so sorry for the double post. A lot of rap artists either mention or exclusively talk about violence, selling drugs, getting girls, etc. It's called playing a character. Obviously most of them don't indulge in these illegal activities (although smoking weed I do agree..most probably do). You must be a young'n too if you believe Jeezy sells drugs..he might have never saw coke in his life for all we know...LOL.

First off...I listen to hip hop, because I love the MUSIC..to me, it's ALL about the MUSIC. I could give a fuck less if you are real, fake, sell coke, don't sell coke, if you're black, white, if you're lying, if you're telling the truth...why does all that matter?!? As long as the music is good..that's all what counts. So Jeezy sold drugs...does that make his music better? Not even close, so why does it matter if he's 'real'.
I hate when people get all caught up in the 'aura' that hip hop gives off. It's like...if you don't have a gun, if you didn't sell drugs, if you're not from a poor neighborhood, if you don't have 'street cred', if you didn't kill someone....then you're not as good? Why does this take place..I couldn't tell you. It's pathetic really, that we praise these people for things that are clearly immorally wrong. I'm glad to hear Nas wasn't selling drugs and all that...it shows he's smarter than that and started off on a better path in life...and that is a bad thing because?!?
I'm sorry for any 'child' remarks...but think about it...you do sound pretty immature if you only like a certain rapper because he is 'real'. It has nothing to do with that...as long as the music is good. Some people just get too caught up in things that are unimportant...like taking sides in a rap beef..lol..it's just childish. You don't even know these people, yet you act like you're in their click or something...just listen to the music...and if you want to talk about real, you must throw in Jada and Styles...right? But so what if they're real...half the stuff they say is still creatively made up...and that's what makes them great lyricists...remember....it's ALL about the music..I've sold drugs and I like in a shitty part of town, but I don't consider myself 'real'...it's just fact of life...nothing to brag about...actually it fucking sucks...nothing good about it.

Nas and Jeezy are just different. You could say Nas is whack because he's not as hood as Jeezy or any rapper that brags about movin coke, but Nas doesn't brag about that shit so why are we saying he's whack? The real rappers who are whack are the ones saying their from the streets and are actually lying (I.E. 50 Cent).

Instead of continuing to go back and forth...let's settle on a common ground. We obviously disagree about the way hip hop should be viewed. We all like hip hop for whatever reason....how do you guys feel about the following...
Biggie, Tupac, Shady, Jay, Nas, Jadakiss, Styles, all of Wu-Tang, Snoop, Game, Redman, Talib Kweli, Common, AZ, Big L, Big Pun, Bone Thugs, Busta, De La Soul, KRS, Big Daddy Kane, Rakim, DMX, Ice Cube, Scarface, older Outkast, Tribe Called Quest...just curious? Or have you never even heard of some of them?
Do they all suck because they don't/didn't live the lives they portray? LOL!! I definitely will say Jeezy cracks the top 100 MC's of all time...I'll give him that lol. Dammit...I went negative again...I'm tryna get us to 'discuss' rather than 'argue'...I swear I'm trying but it's hard with people that respect the person rather than the music..
footpaul...I agree...I'm tryna show these kids it's about the music, but they're not getting it...they would rather respect the killer rather than the one who can describe a killing better in music. Most of the rappers you listed are good and most on the list are better than Jeezy IMO, but let's be fair to Jeezy, he's not a bad rapper. He has a decent flow and talks about the hood while still allowing his words to mostly make sense (which is tough for some Southern rappers;) ). They're all actors...except maybe big Jeezy over here...most of the artists I named probably didn't live those lives, but they're the greatest of all time. Eminem for example...one of the best lyricists/rhymers/rappers of all time..hands down no discussion. Do you think he really fucked some girl with his 10 pound dick and fuck her to death? But it's not about that...I'm just trying to say...if the music is good...that's all that matters. 50 Cent is very fake and doesn't do shit that he says right? Jeezy is not as worse as half the 'rappers' in the south, but he shouldn't be accounted for just because he is telling the truth...I agree he should be respected (if you call it that) for his street cred...but he still makes annoying as fuck music...and is not much of a lyricist.

Well Eminem's a circus act, really...
I was thinking more along the lines of Tupac. Now THAT man lived what he spoke, which, surprisingly enough, was more than just your typical ramblings of money, parties, drug deals, whatever... And he did it well.
I can't really respect an artist that was never a part of what they're laying down. That's no heart, to me. Where did they get their inspiration to rap? Is it money? Fame? My guess is half...no, 3/4...of the rap artists are in it for one of the two.

Listen man...I DO agree with what you mean. (Em's great though you gotta admit haha...his first album was a little crazy, but his recent shit is top quality and he's changed a whole genre of music, so you gotta give him that.) The people I named though...are poetic geniuses...nothing more nothing less. Fuck yeah they're probably in it for the loot, but if you're good at what you do, you get a little greedy at times...don't we all. I'm sure all these guys were a PART of what they're laying down, but obviously some things are embellished. Nothing wrong with that, like Paul said...exaggeration is a poetic device just like when people write fictional books..I just find it amazing how their minds work...I could never think of anything that Em has said...he's fucking nuts..and that's what's great about him..lyrical genius. Tupac is great in a different way..he takes things he knows and turns them into poetry. It's different, but it should all deem the same respect...
Whewww...my brain and hands are moving much too quickly...the beer is getting to me now..must slow down..lol....

Lol, oh yeah, you won't hear me saying Eminem's NOT one-of-a-kind.
His first album tore it up, and that's an understatement. After that, it's like he tried to re-discover himself or something, when in reality, most already saw him as the wacked-out white guy with lyrics so far out there you had to listen...

i don't know......cam is still sick, a lot of people think he spits gibberrish but you just gotta listen and it all makes sense....... The next man to blow should be papoose but he's too street for mainstream, he could never spit that inextiguishable fire on mainstream tracks....I don't think he even cares, he puts out a new fuckin mixtape every month and it sounds like an album.......

Yeah I hear ya...I LOVE his first album. It's nothing anyone's ever heard before in the big world we call music..I was like 'what the fuck' when I first heard it. The way I look at it, and I've told my friends this....the first album he was on acid and mushrooms....second album was definitely coke-induced..with all the killing and anger...and then the third album (when he was off drugs..due to probation) was his first really serious attempt at making music. I think he succeeded as he brought politics into the mix and real life happenings...probably his 'best' album if you want to put it that way. Then his fourth album...well...let's just say I neverrr listen to that shit...he's coming again next year so well see..I expect a lot...I actually expect a pretty good offering...

Haha, I know what you mean, because I actually love Cam for what he does. He does try too hard to rhyme sometimes which results in maybe not making sense. But, that's all right in my book, because he never fails to flow like water through a hose. Inextiguishable fire...I like that...yeah I haven't heard too much Pap..just a few tracks, but like you said he probably don't give a fuck....he just likes making music.

Oh my god dude, how did we disagree earlier? You gotta get the second LOX album if you like Styles and Jada (Sheek is really not bad in it either). Styles new album is alright...it definitely does have a couple bangers. And then there's Jada...ohhh Jada...I fucking love this dude...I DLedthis mixtape the other day (if you want the link I'll give it to ya)...61 tracks...all Jadakiss just spitting fire. In my honest opinion, I think he's one of the best...present day...and of all time. Yeah..some people say he doesn't make the greatest songs (I think he does though)...but I'd rather listen to a Jada mixtape or even his 2 albums more than a lott of shit..and that's no bullshit. He's just sooo sick....
