My first Grow

Hi fellow growers. I have read a little on the site, so I think I'm ready to try "My First Grow" :o

12-08-06. baby clone arrives at her new home.

12-09-06 placed in african potting soil mix.

Wow over night this little girl shot up like a little "weed"!

12-26-06 Second week home and I have started construction of the closet.

Used some visqueen plastic, and a 100 grow bulb.

When a plant stretches that much, that fast, it is probably searching for more light....what kind of lights do you have and how close are they?

12-30-06 Installed 400 MH with digital balast
My girl was a little lonely so I stck a little company with her... although I think this addition is about to flower... oh well.... lets concentrate on the big one for now.

1-5-07 taken the other baby out so my little plant is alone again with a 100 watt bulb till my new balast arrives. I unsderstand that it's back ordered and may not arrive til the end of the month. I may go out and buy another 150 watt grow bulb to boost light. The saga continues

Well thats certainly plenty of light so I guess it just stretched like heck cause it was happy.

Wait....ok, I guess Im too stoned...you have 400w MH on the one that stretched, or 100w? And what kind of 100w? CFL? Is it actual 100w or like 26w/100 equiv.?

I started with a 100 watt grow bulb, kinda looks like a flood light. Got a 400watt kit around the end of December and after 2 days of use the balast crapped out on me..... darn

So... I'm back on the 100 watt bulb, unless I add another bulb in the next day or two to hold me over till my new balast arrives arounfd the end of the month.

I'm waiting for a Hydroflora kit to arrive which I will install most likely in the next week. Keep ya posted.

you probably dont want to hear this but would probably start over with a new clone or seedling, throw away the grow bulb and use a couple of cfls within a couple of inches from the plant until you can get your mh up and going.
and what is holding up your cooltube is that string? would probably suggest getting some light chain to hang your light with as its strong and easily adjustable this is just so you do not find your light fallen on top of your plants one day.

bejay gave you some sound advice. I would not throw your clone out however.... I would get the CFL's on it (daylight if you can find) and do a little LST, since it has all that stretching. When the new ballast arrives, try to get another clone or start a few from seed. The first clone will be a great hands on learning experience...and you never know it could be a really great plant! At least you already know it's a female! Power to the ladies, good luck! B

Here is how she looks today. I topped the plant a few days ago and it's already starting to branch out on the bottom and top.

By the way... what's a LST?

LST is low stress training. You tie down the stalk (don't forget to tie an anchor or you'll rip your lady out) exposing it to the light. This allows to have more than one cola. If you do a search, there is a lot of info and pics on the practice. You can still do it even though you topped. Just another way to get more bud from one plant! And your clone is looking good...what are the temps in there?

Ok I think I got it, I have to tie down the plant so it doesn't grow to tall. Well my closet is about 6' so I guess it doesn't matter so much on height.

Looking how other plants look on the site when they are tied down, certainly makes sence in small spaces.

I love the input and support from the board.

Time marches on abd my girl is growing up. I added a 150 watt CFL while waiting for my MH balast. As I understand it should arrive in a week.

I recently added a HydroFlora Kit from Sunlight Sheds. It should be an interesting adventure using this little bubbler. :weedpoke:
