yo, a guy i know called me up today and asked if i wanted to buy a pocket rocket....one of those mini street bikes... he told me he'd let it go for $120, is this a good deal?
does anybody know the laws surrounding these things?
do you need a drivers license or any sort of license to ride one?

At first I was thinking you were talking about a different kind of pocket rocket.

:D
But to your question, you would have to check your state laws, and is it brand new or used? Here is a site that sells them brand new for 180

its a street bike, it was made for the street so why is it not allowed on them?

I think its more or less like the laws for a ATv or dirtbike, on like dirt roads, in your drive way, or on your property, just not on the state mantained roads. I think the reason you cant ride them on the road is because they are so small an someone might not see you or you could wreck and would go right under someones vehicle. This guy was riding a gocart on the road out in front of my house and he was having so much fun i guess he forgot to look and got ran over by a truck. He went right up under the truck and drug a little ways.

It prolly is state specific, but I'm pretty sure they'd be illeagle most everywhere. They're too small to really be able to see while driving on the road. For the same price you could prolly find an old beat up scooter and get it leagel if you were patient enough.
Thos things are fun, but not meant for street driving. They're meant to ride around your property (driveways, lawn etc...), but not down the highway.

why arent they allowed on the street? No turn signals, not registerable, totally unsafe, cars can't see you
do you mean any kind of street or just main ones?Any public road
could i ride it through the hood? no

it's not a street bike, it's a toy/novelty item made to RESEMBLE a street bike.
those things are really dangerous... save your $$$ and get a ninja 250 if you want a sweet little ride
