I shop around at a few different places. For most stuff, I head to Publix or Winn-Dixie. They're both close to each other and each has thier own appeal. Publix ususally has a better selection of produce and other items, while Winn-Dixie's has the best cuts of meat between the two and the prices of general goods is a little cheaper. I also like to check out local specialty markets like the fruit stand guy and some delis when I can and have time though.
On a side note, back home, I did all my food shopping at Bi-Lo. That place was right up with publix on the ammount of shit they had and the meat market there would be any butcher here hands down.

That's a tough poll for people who live in areas that don't have all those chains.
Around here, we have Stop and Shop, Trader Joe's, Big Y, Hannaford's, and Whole Foods.
I shop for staples at BJ's wholesale club where you have to buy in bulk, but I have a deep freezer so it's ok.
Then I get as many veggies as possible from local farmers markets and freeze those too for out of season
All my odd little yummy treats come from places like Trader Joe's, Asian markets, and this weird discount place in town that I call the 'used food' store because everything expires like THAT DAY, lol.
I absolutely REFUSE to buy food at WalMart.

But what are you gonna do when you need to pickup a DVD player, dogfood, a shotgun, lawn rake and some eggs? LMAO
Yea I feel the same way about wallyworld, but you can't deny that they're convenient.

I do my shopping at Walmart and Aldi. I somtimes go to Ingles or Food Lion buts that just when I need something small and not a whole list of food for the week. Walmart is just where its at anymore if you want to save money and since I didnt win the lottery last night Im going to be going there today.

yeah. it's weird how some stores differ so much around the world. Like in america they prefer to have everything in one spot. for convenience? or are they just lazy... *ponders life*

lol... america is the epitomy of lazy... i mean just think about it, we have remotes for everything... more fast food stores then grocery stores... drive in everythings (but hey, you can't be bothered to get out of your car and walk the 20 feet or so to go in and get your over priced burger, or your mocha frapachino...) and we put off so much shit til just the last minute, when we are forced to get up/get out and do said thing..

i try to do most of my shopping at Fareway, which is an Iowa only grocery store. i refuse to buy meat from anywhere other than fareway because their meat is fresh and produced in Iowa. their store brand, Fastco, is also one of the better store brands out there. but since fareway closes at 9 and isn't open on sundays, its not always an option, so i just go to what is closest to me which is hy-vee. i think hy-vee might be only in iowa too. i never buy their shitty meats though, they looks like they've been in the case for weeks. if i am at wal mart and need a gallon of milk or something i'll pick it up there because it is definitely convenient, but i try to support fareway as much as i can.

I shop at Tom Thumb, Whole Foods Market, and, when I'm making something really fancy like during the holidays, Central Market, which is a gourmet market. Tom Thumb, if I'm not mistaken, is owned by Randall's, and Central Market is owned by HEB. I refuse to shop at Walmart, which makes me claustrophobic. Can't stand the place. I'll pay extra money not to shop there.

I go to IGA (Independent Grocer's Association) and it's sick. It exists all over the world (at least I know in Canada and Australia it does) and the one I go to is owned by this Italian guy and a Jewish guy who own another location several kilometers away. Honestly, they have everything. It's one of the best grocery stores I've been to. They always have a large selection of items and they have many, many different ones. Great cooked food counter too. Also one of the best delis in the city IMO.

Ya...I definitely shop at Wal-mart...it's just so much cheaper, and I can get everything I need in one place.
If I'm feelin a bit different...I'll shop at Fareway and Hy-vee...I think these are only in Iowa.
But ya...personally...I love wal-mart...you can get just about anything you need there.
