Here is the new vertical system I built . Its a drip system along with nft once the roots are down into the tubes I'll run that. I am running 30 plants currently it holds 36 but I ran out of clones so have to work for now. I have a 60" cool tube with 2k in them. Ill post once a week with photos.

Thanks for the replies. well this is the 1st one I built so it cost me a little more than the rest will cost. Total I spent on the upgrade including the cool tube was about $1000. Well worth it though I went from having 40 sq ft on the floor to having 96 sq ft on the wall.

Yes there is 2000 watts I haven't decieded yet if I am going to run a 3rd once thing are all dialed in I may add the other. I may have to add a larger ac if I do that though, specialy in the summer I already have to switch to bottled co2 2 months in summer so we'll see. Could do a 600 to for the 3rd spot.

the lighst are hung verticaly in a 60" cool tube 1 at about 3' off the ground and 1 at about 6' it is behind the door jam so you can't see it. and the wire is just wire fencing that I modified to have 4 inch squares. so I can stick my arms throught while they are small.

Sorry for lagging on a update went to vegas for a week. Well I have made a slight modification for some reason the brain bucket worked great for 3 days then all the sudden a flood I tried 3 different brand new pumps and still the same problem for some reason the pump would be on you could feel the vibration of the pump running but it was not actually pumpimg. wierd. So I took a 55 gal drum cut it down to 15 gal. I am doing it gravity feed so unless the world flips upside down I have no fear of a flood. As far as the plants I haven't had a strain like this before they are at 20 days and already at 1450 ppm my other strain is 20 days into flower and I am at 600 ppm with slight leaf curl so I don't know if it cause the plant is receiving more light or if it just the strain but its an eater. I expect to be at 2000 ppm in no time.

Great work man, that's a very innovative garden and an awesome use of space.

You obviously know what you are doing, but I might suggest covering the open front wall (behind the lights) with mylar or panda if you can manage the heat. I found a big difference in lumens/growth when I went from 3 reflective sides to 4. I'm sure you've considered this though, and heat might prohibit it. In the last pic in post #21, you can see the bulb's element from behind the "open" wall, which means light is being wasted.

Again, great work and I'll be keeping up with this.

Why you shouldn't pack on the nutes

500 ppm is workable but on the low side
1000ppm is average
1500ppm is definately saline(salt)
2000ppm is high

More isn't always better. your nutes hold a charge that attracts water molecules. The right balance allows for nute uptake and water uptake, but when there are excess nutes or too many for the plant to absorb the plant has to work really hard and compete with the nutes to break off the water molecule. This is because the salts creat a high osmotic pressure and the only way to relieve this pressure it to dilute itself with water. That's why we are so thristy after eating salty food it literally draws misture from us.

Since all nutrients are salts the more nutrients that are in the plant water, the more salts will try and steal water away from the roots. As a result the nutrient value available to the plant changes as salinity(saltiness) raises. As well the nutes themselves compete each other for water, making the roots use more energy to get what they need. The more energy roots use on finding water, the less they have to use on actually production.

Personally IMHO I would recommend going no higher than 1500ppm

Same with advanced nutrients. If you do pack on the nutes yo definately have to know what you're doing, know your plants, know the signs, know how to regulate, and know how often to monitor and how to keep the perfect balance to ensure they are getting everything they can from what you give them. I think everyone here has seen or experienced nute burn. Once I flushed then followed up with 1/2 concentration nutes and burnt my plants, the ppm wasn't to high the balance wasn't maintained. Plus I'm just sharing what I read. I would be very interested to know how it goes.

I have never done it any earlier than when the buds are the size of your pinky so what ever day that might be. usally around 14 days for me. I do not know what would happen if you did them early may be fine. The guy I learned this from expeiremented nearly 10 years before he figured it out. He said if you don't do it at the right time with the right amount it can really back fire. Also man I forgot about those trays I can give them to doco to bring up he says he goes up there evry few weeks or you can meet me down in east county when ever I can grab them today I am going there soon. He wants $40 each thats half of retail so let me know.

I feed them what they need I do agree more is not better most my strains top out at 1100 ppm that is in mid flower. I have never had a strain that eats like this I am at 1550 now and it is still in veg. The guy I got them from says he runs them at 1800 during veg at 1st I was very cauctious started at my normal 400 and work my way up they started to yellow till I hit 1250 ppm that was within a week I am now at 1550 no leaf burn or curl this is just a beast of a strain. and what really trips me out is Jeti one of the strains it is crossed with is the one I got at 600 ppm right now 3 weeks into flower and they are 2.5 feet full grown plants. By the way I use advanced nutes have been since they came out.

The room was origanly designed for a bucket set up. My friend got me on the whole vertical idea he had a set up another friend made that turned into a real piece of shit so after that failed I started designing a new system. With the amount of room I had this gave me the most amount of sq ft with enough space between the lights and the plants. If I had gone a full 360 in a 5 x 8 room I would of had only 21" between the plants and the lights. All the other system we have made are 3 or 4 tower systems. We also have 3 and 4 shelved units.

I use a cap ppm-2 in order to run my co2 I use to have it in both rooms but one took a shit on me. I had a cycle stat timer and put my co2 moniter in the room and just figured out how long it took to fill and how long it took to come down. heres a link to a calculater should help

How big a room you trying to fill? also what gen you getting I would get the cap either gen 1 or 2 (get the E model its piolotless ignition)depending on your room size they are expandable the gen 1 does up to 12 cu ft co2 an hour the gen 2 does up to 24. thats with all the burners each burner is 3 cu ft a hour the more burners the less time it is on. my 5 x 8 room takes about 2 minutes to fill to 1000 ppm every 20 min. a 5 gal propane lasts about 2 weeks. compared with a 20lb bottle of co2 every 4-5 so the savings are good. allthough in the summer I have to switch to bottles sometimes. we had a 109 degree hot spell that lasted about 2 weeks my temps got up to 92 so I cut the gen and solved the problem but 2 weeks out of the year isn't bad. Also you mentioned something about priming the pump I have heard the term before maybe you can enlighten me. I was thinking maybe the siphon break in the line some how messed with it but I had those before with no problem.

update day 1 flower. So I got sick of the wire I will put it up only when I need it. It has only pissed me off since the day I put it up and untill the plants strech out its pointless. I think houdini figured out why the pumps failed, the pump became unprimed by sucking air I still am going to leave it the way it is just cause I see no reason to change it back for now. What I plan is to flip the bottom floats in the brain bucket upside down that way there is always about 4 inches of water in the brain bucket and the pump can never suck air and fail.

Sorry for the lag on the update I got hit with land lord inspection cause the lease was up. I am a medical grower but I have made quite I few mods that the owner probaly woudn't be to thrilled about. So I bought $500 in plastic shelves and dumpster dived for boxes for 3 days and packed the garage floor to ceiling with boxes and shelves. I couldn't even breath it was so tight in there. after all that the lady was in and out in 5 mins and never even went in there. anybody need any shelves? so all is well with the grow I just couldn't take any pics till today. day 37 by the way

If you need some avid I can hook you some. personaly if I did 600's I would run 3 in a 60" cool tube that is what my friend is running and they work awesome as far as the dimensions I can make them any size you want. Here is the new model as you can see there is been many inprovments. everything breaks done so they can be shipped. It has ajustable shelves so you can add levels. I put casters so it can roll around. And we also came up with a nutrient injection system basicaly a drip system with no drips. I didn't want to worry about clogs.

Whats up guys been working on a new room should be finished any day. I am trying to get a hold of a time lapse camera I think we may do a entire grow on timlapse I think it would be pretty cool. The room consits of or 3 tower 3 level system with 54 plants and a total of 3600 watts in 2 seperate cool tubes. we are sealing the room and bring in a co2 generater in a couple of days that is controlled by a cap xgc-1. We will cool the place with a 12,000 btu ac along with a 50 pint dehumidifer for humidity. The strain we are running this round is cali-o its one of my favorite and always a good yeilder. Anyways we should be up and going in the next few weeks stay tuned....
