What is the best way to find out what type of sees you got? Do seeds even have a certain look to them? If not, after you plant them how soon can you tell? Can you ever tell?

I'm only asking cause my buddy just planted 4 bag seeds, 1-2 of them he said was some dank. They are barely sprouting so there's nothing to distinctive. Although one of the sprouts has a dark purple color to it. is that normal or is it a hint at things to come?

Thanks.

Well it's pretty much impossible to tell what strain you have but there are characteristics found in leaf growth which can help you determine whether or not you have an indica or a sativa. A little researching and you'll know how to tell the difference between a sativa and an indica. Purple can be normal or it can be on account of climate. Peace!

Yeah, what HiProGlow said. The only thing you can tell by a plant is whether it is mostly sativa, indica or what, based on the way it grows and leaf shape. Other than that, unless you actually know where the seeds came from, it is completely impossible to tell what a plant is.

You can see an example of 4 different plants coming from 4 different bags in my log. They all look completely different.

What are some magor differances between Indica and Satavia?
I've never even heard of Indica, is that even worth growing?
The stem will turn purple if the climate is to hot or to cold?

Thanks for all the pointers.

Indica is mighty fine if you ask me. I prefer Indica as a matter of fact. Indica is more of a body stone and Sativa is more cerebral. Indica leaves are fatter than a Sativa's and Indica plants usually grow shorter. Almost every indica originated from Afghanistan. Hope this helps. Oh, and purple stems/leaves, if not bred into the strain are usually a sign of colder temperatures. Peace!
