For the past few months my mom's been preaching to me about how my sister's been saying she's going to move into her boyfriends house when she turns 18 (March 24th). I used to just laugh about how she'd be back in a few days after she realizes how much she hates it, and make fun of her about how she's going to have some DARK ass little kids (we look White but you wouldn't know we were half Mexican unless we told you). Her boyfriend's a fucking dark paisa (the Mexican equivalent to White trash), 20 years old and he still lives with his parents. My mom started preaching to me again today and I told her to just send her into the Marines (I'm going to boot camp on Monday so I need to convince her before then) or something, my older sister's been trying to get her to go into the Navy. At least there she'll get money for college, signing bonuses, and a chance to get the fuck out of the house, and a little direction. The thing is, she just sits on the fucking couch and watches tv ALL FUCKING DAY! I guess she thinks it'll be a free ride if she moves in with him. I don't know what to do with her. If this is what she wants, I'm not going to stop her. How do I convince her to want something better out of life?

Let her do her own thing. Don't sign her up for some bullshit Navy or Marine crap. Maybe that's what YOU want out of life, but don't stary controlling her life telling her what to do. Would you like it if someone just signed you up for the Navy, came to you and said, "oh, you leave for boot camp on Monday by the way"? I'd smack them in the face, really, really hard.

Worry about your life. Let her make her own mistakes and let her find direction. I mean, she's not even 18 yet and you think she needs direction? Where is your dad name tag? ;) She's 18 and has a lot of growing up to do. I grew up the most between ages 18-22. Give her a few years and leave her be.
