i have just started my third plant and i dont know how long i should keep it under my 250w light for as this is the first time i have used it, my plant is about an inch tall and about 2days old(from when it came above soil). Also the light cycle times for when the plant becomes bigger.

hps is not widely used as a vegative growth light as it doesnt hold the right colour spectrum(red) but it can be done with a hps so dont worry might jus take a lil longer! the timing for vegging should be 24/0 if you want to give the plants a break which i recomend! have 18hrs light 6 dark jus make sure your grow room has gd air circulation as it could burn the plants an stress them out somewhat!! when the plants reach an average of around 12" - 17" depending on strain you can switch the light cycle to 12/12 for flowering which the hps is great for! gd luck!

I don't see where he says he's using an hps or mh. Either way, timimg is more of a personal preference than a growing one. I veg under 24 hrs and always have great results and they tend to grow tighter nodes, like I said, it's personal preference. I use a 250mh from 6-8" thru flower, I veg first under floros. I can get about 16" of packed bud and after that they start getting airy so an ideal finishing height using a 250 is about 2 ft' max but then again it's a personal preference. No sense in vegging longer than 8" or so because they will end up about 20-24". Thats a fact. If you have a vented hood you can get the plants close to the glass once they get a little height on them and they get used to the light. Use a fan to blow across them to strengthen the stems during seedling stage so they will be able to support the bud weight.
