"Finally, there is a third variety of the hemp plant-Cannabis Ruderalis, established botanically in 1924 by Janishewsky-which for the most part appears in southern Siberia. The earliest record we have of this one comes from the tireless Greek traveler Herodotus, often considered the first Western historian. In a famous passage written in about 450 B.C. he describes the funeral rites that took place when a king died among the Scythians. After burial, he wrote, the Scythians would purify themselves by setting up small tepee like structures covered by rugs which they would enter to inhale the fumes of hemp seeds thrown onto red-hot stones."
"It smolders and sends forth such billows of smoke that no Greek steambath could surpass it," comments Heroditus. "The Scythians howl with pleasure at these baths."
Anyone ever been to Siberia?

lol i believe so :)
Cannabis plants [as we know them, almost all strains] flower when they are given a 12/12 light cycle. They measure the un-interuppted darkness, and this then releases a flowering hormone.
Ruderalis are auto flowering. They flower depending on their age, like Ruderalis Skunk and Lowryder to name a few.
But it's nothing new... So i cant see what this post is meant for.

Come on guys, so he just gave you a little history lesson about our favorite plant! It doesn't hurt you to know something about history for a change! Incidentally, you are supposed to use a white horse hide to make an authentic Sythian sweat lodge tent- a little hard to come by now, but I still think the idea of doing a sweat and using cannabis flower heads in there might be an interesting idea! I enjoy learning odd details of history! And who knows, some grower out there may just try a sweat lodge this next harvest!I know I'd sure like to try it and "howl with joy"!- Granny:stoned:

Thanks for the history story Chris. Flower heads, if they had used them, would get you high, but "the fumes of hemp seeds" just give the smoker a headache usually. To me, it seems the Scythians were not using the hemp for it's psycho-active properties but more as some kind tribute like thanking their God(s) for that wonderous and useful gift.

Of course they wernt using the seeds to get stoned, seeds have no THC. That's why they're legal in UK. Dont know why they're not in America, i guess it's just more proof America laws are a waste of time.

If indica gives you a LOW body stone
And sativa gives you a HIGH head hgh stone
Ruderalis must give you a sideways stone.

Lol. All Ruderalis does is auto flower, it's a 3rd species, yes, but not in the way that sativa and indica is. You can have a ruderalis pure indica or a ruderalis pure sativa or a ruderalis cross, such as ruderalis skunk.
It gets confusing.
Although, a sideways stone... im warming to the idea lol.

There actually is no point to this thread, but then again what point is there for you bloody wankers to start flaming it!? Save the grand effort for some other day that you may have the need to write something more productive.
The THC ratio in Cannabis Ruderalis grown wild must be low. Its traits of supporting harsh nearly year long weather conditions could be passed on to other classes of marijuana. I heard of a Ruderalis strain crossed with Indica...
