When I vape my weed, I feel more body high, as in my legs, arms and pretty much my body feels sort of numb, but my mind is much less clear of thoughts, but when I smoke the weed, my head feels very heavy and my eyes are droopy and I have so many thoughts rushing at me at once but my body feels a lot less euphoric.
What causes the difference in highs?

Although I am not 100% certain, vaporizing weed only releases THC and nothing else. So the high you get is pure THC.
When you smoke weed or eat it, however, there are other chemicals too, notably CBD/CBN I do believe, that change the effects.
I hope that helps. The euphoria comes from THC but CBD I do believe lowers the euphoria and increases the sedative effect, hence the difference when you smoke it.

You do get CBN/CBD too, at least you do in the Volcano. I agree though that it "feels" like you get less of the others and more THC - vs smoking.
What you DONT get with vaping is a load of other plant materials and combustion products. I think that has more to do with the high.
I find a vaped high to be "cleaner" I don't get slowed down and have less of the "droopy eyes" etc just like poiuyt said.

The new study used a gas chromatograph mass spectrometer (GCMS) to examine the gas components of the vapor. .The analysis showed that the Volcano® vapor was remarkably clean, consisting 95% of THC with traces of cannabinol (CBN), another cannabinoid
Non-cannabinoids accounted for as much as 88% of the total gas content of the smoke
A quantitative analysis found that the Volcano® delivered 46% of the THC into vapor following three 45-second exposures of the sample to the heat. This compares favorably with the typical efficiency of marijuana cigarettes as observed in other studies, which depending on conditions can fall below 25% due to loss of THC in sidestream smoke. An important feature of the Volcano® is that it uses a balloon to capture the vapor, thereby avoiding leakage to the air. It is possible that higher THC efficiencies could have been reached with the Volcano® by stirring the sample around and exposing it to more heat.

Awesome post Delta!
I only use a vaporizer now, though I can't quite afford the Volcano yet.
I love to read quality info on here as opposed to the "vaporizers suck, dude" sentiment.
thanks

Maybe your using different kinds of weed.
Cannabis Indica may give you the body high you were talking about.
Cannabis Satvia is probablly giving you the head high.
But if your smoking and vaping the same weed I can't really think why.

No problem at all :)
and yes, the whole "vaporizers suck, dude" thing does bug me too.
I was smoking around 1.5 - 2g /day before the Volcano. Now I use less than 1g a day with the same effects :)
I still smoke occasionally but its more of a treat, I don'r smoke everyday and I feel SO much better for it. Plus I quit tobacco at the same time +1 :)
I just wish there was more information on this and more studies as the Volcano is the closest thing to a medical device that we have.

vaporizing releases about 4 or 5 types of cannabinols (including delta-9-tetrahydracannibinol which causes most of the desired effects).
combustion (smoking) releases about 14 or so types of cannabinols. not all cannabinols cause psychedelic effects though and there are some that are only released through smoking, but not the MAIN one.
combustion destroys a lot of THC in the process of releasing it, leaving less to get you high. vaporizing does not destroy any THC, but it also does not release all of it, so some is stuck in the duff (vaporizer leftovers), though that is why you save the duff and make brownies or oil or something. these things factor into the different high.
another factor to the difference in high is that vaporizing releases only THC and water and all, while combustion causes you to inhale tars and all the burned plant material (hundreds of chemicals), which greatly contributes to the different high. most describe vaporizing as a clearer high, because it is! it is so much more pure than combustion.

Amen y'all! Good to see some positive vape vibes going on...and truth sharing. I vape and notice exactly as described - a cleaner head high without lethargy. I also smoke / cook the duff and enjoy that high still, but vaping is the bombizzle.
I also wish we had more studies on the other vapes...I know my Vapolution performs - as I bare witness to that fact everyday. But I wonder if it's as effective as the Volcano in these other areas.
Good stuff!

Nice posts! I think hazetwostep illustrates the point perfectly. I have smoked some vaped duff and although it wasn't very nice it did bring on some of the droopy eye and lethargy effects - without much of a high which makes sense.
I have only used 2 vapes (regularly - not spot tests) and all I can tell you is they were very different.
The first was a basic dome type with a light source as the heat element the Vapureyes unit (http://www.vapureyes.com/) - it was a warm air vape (sort of) and it did work.
While I was in Amsterdam I got the chance to test the Volcano (thanks to the kind chaps in the Grey Area) with some fine AK-47, then some G-13 cross and then some Trichome powder (Grey Mist Crystals) - I was converted.
Once back in the UK I ordered a volcano.
All I can say is that not all Vaporizers are created equal ;). I'm sure than some of the new Vapes coming in 2007 are even better than what we have now.
