Hello guys,
I had been an overgrow member in the past and got my first and only decent grow. 1 out of 1 ain't bad. But its all bad now. here it goes.

I had 4 moms (cut from a good mother plant) of three varietys. Purple Ice, purple Cream and Amethyst(two of this type). Under Deep water culture with airstone bubblers, in 4 inch netpots with a plug of rockwool surrounded by expanded clay pellets, they were all apx 6-9 inches tall and pretty bushy. Grown under a 400w mh about 4 feet above them. Only in Veg state as of now. all at aboutn 78 - 80 degrees, and 40-50% humidity.

All was well for over two months then one day I noticed that some of the lower pre-flowers crumbled to the touch and smelled cured. then the next morning I found that one amethyst just dried up like it was cured within 6 to 8 hours. I check them several times a day. The water temp was fine, roots looked good, Ph, Nute strength, good aeration, good venting of fresh air, all looked fine. I chucked the plant immediately. =(

Then within three days after the other amethyst took a dive without any tell tale signs before. Same thing went to bed, it looked good, woke up...fried and dead.

about a week or so later...my purple cream died within two hours of checking it last. it shriveled up as if it had no water, but the rocks were nicely moist. not too much and not too little. even the roots looked good.

This was a few days ago that the purple cream took that dive. That is the one I really wanted to keep out of the three.

Now here is the problem... I have found that within a mere 2 hours or so single leaves are shriveling up, one by one. I took some pics. Please let me know if any of you can help...take care..

Overgrow the world.

I had never heard of anything like it. It almost sounds like they've stopped taking up water. Could it be some parasite? Really no idea :(

Are we talking hydro or soil? If hydro it sure sounds like toxic salts buildup or maybe nute lockout?.....H20 available and the plant not taking it. If soil......you got me pardner.

Its a hydro setup. I am now experiencing other problems with my last mother. Come to find out our average temp for the last couple of weeks was about 50ish deg F and today it jumped to 80 - 88 deg F so my babies went upwards of 90+ for a few hours. I came home to see it not the usual perky upward pointed leaf tips, etc.

I have up'd 2 pics. please help... thanks.

to hott maybe or too humid, i had the same problem

I have the humidity (as high as I can get it in my crappy location) is 38-44% at 73-80deg F

Like I said yesterday was a hot one...the only hot day let alone warm day in weeks and weeks...suck...
As for the other problem with the dying ones I think I overferted... water evap'd and I added a weak solution. I dont have a ppm or tds meter only ph...so I know what I'm getting myself post-christmas....

I think you may have had the root rot.

What did your roots look like?

Another thing, I had a rot problem on some old moms I used to have caused by too much moisture in the rockwool cube that the plants were originally planted in. It sort of rotted a ring right around the stem.

This is why I always tell people to do DIRT mothers... and if there is a rockwool plug still on them, GET IT OFF.

Hey Stinky.....

So I have read to use Rapid Rooters... GOod stuck that in my head for next time..

You speak of removing the cube from the soil. Is that once the cube is in the Soil? How do you do that? is it a simple as doing it carfully? lol

And do you wait untill the clone is well established? or is it better to do it sooner than later? when the clone is just established. As I have one thats been in soil now for about a bit over a week.

Thanks in Advance.... your da best!!

Wait until the clone is REALLY well established...like a month after taking it... keep the top of the rockwool plug as far above the soil surfae as you can... chip away at it carefully with forceps and try to reduce its bulk without damaging the plant... gotta get that moisture trap outta there! A little rockwool left behind isn't going to matter too much but if you can get most of it off you are better off.

I was looking back at this thread too and if the problem wasn't root rot it was plain suffocation. the canoe leaves point to that.
