yo the 70s were not a peaceful like hippie time. There was mad student protest, Vietnam, watergate, not to leave out the iranian hostage situation homie. At the same time the music "scene" was proto-punk and then punk. Bands like The MC5 (John Sinclait the guy on my sig was their maneger), The Stooges early and Sex Pistols and their british deal. Oh and you had people hitting up yayo and that dont make for a peacefkl time.
w0rd?

We need a band to look up to...a gathering where we can procure psychedelics...Okay, I'm thinkin' more of the '60s, but they're pretty similar and the '60s was a lil better in my opinion.
But yeah, someone needs to make a good band and at concerts you gotta make sure theres plenty of mind expansion being passed out.
Media controls us, only way to create a counter-culture is to have role models who support it.
Too many rappers, shitty bands, etc. for the '70s to come back, right now. Someone, go kill all those douche-fucks, then the rest of us will learn to play guitar and other instruments and we'll populate the world with some decent music.
Ready....GO.

Well you're in LUCK. There are plenty of steller bands that put on one hell of a show, perfect for whatever kind of *expanding* your mind desires.
There are tons of acts, but the Flaming Lips and Perpetual Groove come to mind first. Both have amazing stage performances, with the Lips more of a theatre act with dancers and spectacle, whereas pGroove has made a name for their amaZing light shows. I've seen both bands a couple times, *expanded* to both, and can assure you that bands like you described do exist, you just gotta go out and find 'em.
That's why I sure as hell hope the whole "jam band" scene doesn't die out anytime soon. It's such a great escape from all the pitter-patter of everyday life that it'd be a shame to lose such a huge part of what makes me and millions of others happy to be at the shows. ~
