There is slipknot, then there is Mudvayne.
I have always said that Slipknot is like a Jr. High band. One plays the cymbal, one the snare and one the bass drum. If you want good 'shock rock', mudvayne is where its at.
theyre ok... i dont like them like i used to....

maybe you just shouldn't listen to them. I mean, it's not like you're a complete idiot or something of that nature... right?

I liked the song 'Left behind' I think that's what it was called anyway. But yeah, I never really listen to hard rock, i'll listen to metallica and the odd song here or there but that's as far as it goes for me. Classic rock, Prog rock and psychadellic rock's where it's at :)

I like some Slipknot songs... I Am Hated due to the PS2 game Amplitude, and I always liked the two Vermillion songs.
I'd say I only like about 40% of their songs, and of those 40%, it's generally only sections of the songs I find interesting, with the rest of the song boring me.
And I haven't listened to Mudvayne much but I like the ones on the radio... they've got good bass lines goin.

I still dig on Slipknot and have been a fan since their first album.
I immediately recognized their unique sound when I was recovering from the a "grunge" hangover back when Pearl Jam sounded like they were going to start playing jazz...
Slipknot's 3 dummer corps give them a hard slammin sound especially when you catch them live.
I also like "Verses" and see nothing wrong with a concept album & a couple of heavy ballads.
Yeah, they may be dishing out their melodies on a silver platter these days...but, songs like "Before I Forget" are still scaring housewives & little girls.

I think Iowa was good, but I hate all that commercial metal, better known as numetal. I'd take a good Morbid Angel CD over any Slipknot, Korn, Mudvayne, whatever CD.

They play music?...i thought they just banged on random instruments and screamed.

Ya I gotta agree. Slipknot is better live than on studio releases (IMO) I have done quite a few Slipknot shows and they are always entertaining. Too bad they carry a semi-trailer full of heavy-as-shit props in addition to the instruments.
I gotta say this about Mudvayne - They need to hire an Audio Engineer that knows how to mix. They sounded TERRIBLE live last time they were around. I wanted to go out there with a can of paint and offer it to their Audio guy. I think he may have been better off mixing that.

I saw Slipknot back in '99 at Ozzfest when they were nothing. Their new album had been out for maybe 4 months, and after I saw them, I went and bought their debut CD. I happened to get the track Purity on the album which was removed shortly after release due to the lyrics being stolen.
I enjoy Slipknot's work. I can say their latest effort though I don't care much for. Their first CD with (sic) and Iowa were heavy ass, angry albums, but their newest was like, softer with a few acoustic tracks on there. Leave that pansy shit for Stone Sour, but Slipknot?! To say the least, they have pansied out a lot.
Their first album is untouchable though. Pure anger. I love it and I even have it on vinyl too. Vinyl is something produced back in the 50's, and died out in 80's. Say it with me, vi-nyl. :D
I have since moved onto heavier music and "left behind" their newest album. :p
My likings nowadays are Unearth and Lamb of God....Classic rock a lot too, but heavy is where it's at.
Oh, and Mudvayne suck ass. No way they are heavier than Slipknot.

purity was taken off of the cd because its based on a true story of a girl who was buried alive and fed threw tubes in a coffin like thing by a stalker. Not cause the lyrics were stolen :P

I've never unerstood how people can like slipknot. To me it's a bunch of retards wearing masks and trying to play metal. It's just not happening for me.

I used to like them...but then I moved on to bigger and better bands. I almost strictly listen to stuff from '60s-'80s nowadays, anything else just seems to suck ass. For the most part that is, but I won't not listen to a band because its not from that era.
"Spit it out" was the first song I heard by them. I liked it and eventually I got all their CDs. Then I just stopped listening and now I think they suck. Wayy too angst-y for my tastes.
Slipknot dissed GWAR before too...fucking fags, GWAR is a majorly respectable band, unlike slipknot.
edit: also, purity isn't real...well, thats not what really happened. corey read the story on http://crimescene.com/ and according to wiki thats not really how it went down.

Wait and Bleed was a good song, that's about it. What I don't get is why there are so many awesome bands out there but they decide to ruin it with a vocalist who sounds like a pile of shit. When did it happen where suddenly you can't be hard unless you have that gutteral, non-singing, growl. It is horrible, and totaly ruins the music, which is often times hard as shit and fucking awesome, but I can't listen to it because the fucking singer sounds like he is being rapped in the ass with a piece of sandpaper.
I mean, who can possibly think that is enjoyable, just don't sing at all if you have too. Ozzy was as hard as they come back in the day, he never did that. It's like to be metal you have a singer that sounds like that, pisses me off because it is fucking laughable what these idiots put out as music.

he's talking about self titled. if he was talking about mfkr, he woulda said mfkr. but in saying that, i remember when i first heard self titled. it scared the living shit out of me, and thats how i knew it was good. then i bought the cd and gave it to my girlfriend and she creamed her panties.

What did these nu-metal sellouts say about GWAR?!?!?!
They also sued Burger King because of the chicken fry commercial with the band with the masks.

I don't really remember, but he dissed them.
It was somethin' condescending, like "something like GWAR, we'd never do that kind of crap" I think it was about 'staying true to the band' because GWAR's lineup changes constantly, in fact I think davie is like the only member who's stayed the same.
Yeah, I've definitely grown to hate slipknot.

GWAR isn't really about the recorded music, its about the shows. Go to a GWAR show. Guaranteed best time of your life.

Guys, there is a difference between good, goofy, heavy, and stupid.
Mudvayne is good and heavy.
Slipknot is goofy, heavy and stupid.
Gwar is goofy and stupid.

I hate slipknot personally. It sucks because people who don't know much about metal always thinks of slipknot and then they get the wrong impression usually.
And the guy before said. Gwar live is incredible.
