need help with torrents

I need to have the program, 'FileMaker Pro' for a new job I have. I got a trial version from the software manufacturer's website, but it is about to expire. I can't afford to buy the program, and I am aware of the existence of torrent sites from which I can get software, but I have never done so, and have NO IDEA of how to go about it.
Does anybody have any helpful advice for me on this matter?

does anybody have a registration code for FileMaker Pro that I could use to make my demo version a full version?

Filemaker pro..I'd download the one at the top of the list. It has the most sources.

I have never downloaded a torrent before. Do I just open the file I have downloaded and it will install itself?

Right now I am downloading something recommended by Nikweiser. It seems like it is going to take a couple of hours, but if it doesn't work I will try some of these other ideas.

Thank you so much, Nikweiser for being so patient on AIM with me walking me through the steps of downloading and installing programs from torrent sites. I seem to have a full version of FileMaker Pro now, and it is even on a disc if I want to install it to another machine. Turned out Nero was the key program I needed to manipulate that .cue file.
