Hey all,
Love the site its been really helpful so far with getting me set up... So this is my first attempt at indoor growing and i have set up a small ebb and flow table in addition to some plants growing in soil. Anyways today i look at my plants to find that the roots have compleatly grown through the bottoms of the pots on the table. I was kind of feraing this due to the fact the pots are so small. Is this a bad thing? I arent roots not susposed to be exposed to any light? Should I do anything to fix this or am I going to be ok? Also do the plants look ok i was thinking they might be a bit yellow but i dont really have anything to compare them to. thanks.

What i am wondering is: will they continue to grow through the bottom of the pots, the plants are not very big and yet they are already poking through. If they grow any farther down they will hit the bottom of the tray and start polking through the sides. It has arleady happened to one plant and its roots are being exposed to the light. I was thinking if it really got bad i could put a thin layer of clay pellets or rockwool on the bottom of the tray around the pots but I dont know if this would be a good idea, any ideas?

I had this same dilemma a few days ago.
Your roots will undoubtedly get much longer and if you dont do anything they'll be exposed and susceptible. Some people don't have a problem with this, but I didn't like the idea. Coco Matting is an option: http://boards.cannabis.com/showthread.php?t=96478.
rockwool would hold too much water, i've seen other people use hydroton for your problem though. what's in your netpots?

if your roots never grew through the new pots your using (its inherent they will grow through...as they are net pots and thats their design) then youd have pee sized plants that barely produce a thing. Modify your system so the roots are in the dark. Roots are supposed to grow out of the netpots, regardless of your hydroponic system.
