Yeah, are you sure it's your speakers, or just your sound card? Troubleshooting is always a good idea, helps you narrow down the problem, makes it easier to fix.

yeah, ive tried some other speakers.
im trying the trouble shoot right now.
updating the driver didnt work.

i'd say it's your sound drivers as well.... if you don't know what a sound driver is... it's the software (if you don't know what THAT is, use an internet encylopedia or something, cuz i can't explain that) your computer uses to process the info your sound card is sending (in the end, makes information so that your output port can reconize and ultimately, your speakers can make noise) what kinda speakers you have (are they just two little speakers that your comp came with, or is it an 'upgrade' and have like multiple speakers, and maybe even a subwoofer?)

name brand, and model number, and i should (although you learned last time not everything can be foudn on the net) be able to help you with finding the correct drivers (which is what i was trying to find for your camera the last time, i just couldn't find anything with your model number...)

3 things will troubleshoot your audio problem:
1. Make sure you are plugged into GREEN receptacle.
2. Make sure your WAVE level is turned up (audio controls).
3. And of course install audio driver -as stated above.

yeah dude, thanks for trying to help.

its just the speakers the comp came with,
did you want to know the sound card im using or the driver s name or what?
sound card:MPU-401 compatible MIDI device
driver: legacy audio drivers
do you need any other info?

slipknotpsycho

well shit, if it's the speakers it came with, you should have no problems at all... is it a headphone type-jack (type of plug most headphones plug in with)? if so, make sure they have power (if there's a seperate power cord) and plug it into a stero or cd player (in the headphone jack) and turn on the device (stero/cd player) and see if they work (assuming everything is plugged into the speakers, if they don't have an additional power plug it should still work) and tell me if works...

if they're the ones that came with the computer, there should be no real problem (unless you installed a new sound card into the computer), so have you installed a new sound card into the comp? (you'd know if you did or not... it's hardware, or 'computer components' if you will..)

stupid question, but they HAVE worked on your comp at one point right? answer these questions and get back to me.

If your speakers don't work when plugged into anything else, then they're blown. If you plug a working pair of headphones into your speaker jack and you don't hear didly, then you'r soundcard/drivers are shot. Blown speakers would be the cheapest easiest fix.

slipknotpsycho

so you HAVE tried to plug them into a normal cd player/radio? and did they work when you plugged them in to the cdplayer/radio (to the head phone jack) and you say 'when they got power' so i'm assuming they don't have an additional power-plug... does the green light come on when you plug it into the computer

also stupid question but go to control panel> sound and audio devices> first tab there, click advanced, there should be 5-6 diffrent little 'levers' are all of those all the way up? if not, try again and tell me how it works

yeah i forgot that test, grab a pair of headphones and plug them into your comp (where your speakers plug in) (if nothing i've said works) and tell me if you hear anything if you still hear nothing, your sound card is fried, and you need a new one..

headphones dont work, but the speakers do in my stereo.
so most likely my sound card is blown, i guess.
goddamnit, all this just cause i wanted to hack some games.

slipknotpsycho

yeah it's almost definately a sound card problem at this point... all i can say if you have tried drivers (if you don't have an actual install cd, try a couple of diffrent versions) otherwise, you're probably gonna have to get a new sound card... (not that much, mine was all of 30 dollars)

What does it say in your device manager???

MastaChronic
01-03-2007, 06:01 AM
it says everything is working properly, but if everything is working properly then why isnt any sound coming out of my speakers when they are hooked up?
it is a mystery fit for the hardy boys

Uninstall the device and reboot...

slipknotpsycho
01-03-2007, 06:06 AM
lol like i said, sound card.. only explination, either your hardware (the actual sound card) is defective (whether it be in the circuits or the connection where your speakers actually plug in) or the software, that transmits/transfers the info... if drivers don't work... it's the first.

yeah but he doesn't say anything about taking his comp apart and putting it back together, which makes it a highly unlikely possibility......

there's a good chance, if he isn't into upgrading comptuers, it's not a seperate card.. but with a free (open) PCI slot and 30 dollars (if the comp doesn't have a warranty) the problem can be solved... i know when my computer developed problems i'd have to send it back to the company, and the estimate i was given was 6 weeks (shipping) that's not even including however long it took the people to get the problem diagnosed and fixed... and i had to pay the shipping costs (even with the warranty!!!) i'd rather pay the 30 bucks for a new sound card then paying all the shipping costs lol..
