I lived alone for almost 20 years - and shacked-up a few times, but none of these relationships lasted very long. Living alone builds character. When you are disgusted by the nonsense, you can just go home and shut the door.

Anyway, I'm happily married now - I waited until the right person came along.

I have a roomate that doesn't feel the need to engage me everytime I pass by. Its the best of both worlds. And during school I have a flow of people in and out. I have not lived ALL alone before. I bet it would get rough sometimes, even more so if you had any 'mental ailments'

Living alone and LOVING it! Can grow with no nag, nag, nag. Got a lady that stops by in the afternoon and a few that call during the night. I can watch my football in peace. My choice of shows hit the TV.

To sum it up........I guess I'm just a selfish, stoned slut.:D

Have a good one, I am!

Hear hear!!!!
Just booted the ol' ball and chain... already lost 5 pounds in 3 weeks on my bachelorette diet (mmm omelettes and Indian food!)... don't have to listen to the damned TV all the time... no one pinching my girlies before they are even ready to harvest... the dog is back to sleeping on my feet... conveniently ran into my ex from waaaaay back... hey, a girls gotta do what a girl's gotta do. I'm broke as fuck but man is it great to have my house back to myself.... and a last word of advice... don't let anyone talk you into adding them to your lease/mortgage!!! Thank God I put that conversation to rest firmly back 2 years ago!!!!

the only problem i have with living alone is that i tend to talk to myself more than usual. this eventually leads to massive arguments with myself, which i almost always lose. then i find that i won't speak to me for weeks. eventually i'll apologize for losing my temper and things will get back to normal for a while, but i know that sooner or later it will happen again. i've thought of leaving myself, but i've been together so long that i don't know what i'd do without me.

LOL.....you want to find out what an asshole your Homie is, live with the person. Friends are great until you share expenses, the fridge, etc.......

I'd rather live in a one room dump than to share a 3 bedroom house with a "homie".

Have a good one!

Hmmm I refer to people I've known my whole life as friends too. Guess I'll never figure it out.
Living with roommates really sucks.
You want company? Get to know your neighbors. When either of you wants privacy, you can just shut the door. My neighbor around the corner is now one of my best buddies and I might have sold my house by now (I can't stand the ignorant, racist, dirty trash in my town) if it had not been for getting to know him.

I knew what you were talking about but I have to warn ya. NO INSULT INTENDED but your just turning 18.....I'm 44 and one of my best friends I've known since we were 5. Anytime.......anywhere, but I'd be DAMNED if I'd live with the dude. Two roosters in the same coop don't work, believe me.

These TV shows that more/ less promote this are a JOKE. For instance, "Friends"........in real life do ya think that a Chandler would support a Joey like the show...hell no! It would be; "Get out mooch or get a real job!".

When ya notice your groceries are always gone, things missing.....like them last few hits you were saving for after work, bills only getting "half" paid, just cleaned the whole damn place to find it trashed by roomy and a few of the boys......it just gets old and can trash a friendship in a hurry.

Good luck and.......

Have a good one!

at first its real lonely and shit gets depressing
then that shit fades out and things are good

living alone will change the way you see life
it aint easy
when your laying all alone night after night your mind can play tricks
i personally like it but at first it was tough

I agree with Psycho4Bud about the whole friend thing. I dormed with one of my good friends from high school during freshman year in college. It was great at first, but towards the end of the year, we were hardly talking to each other. Also, three of my other friends got an apartment together, which resulted in many complaints about each other. Every individual person has their own style of living...and even when friends come together, it can become quite the hostile environment.

I love living alone - I have all the room I could ever need in the house, and its set up exactly how I want. My closest neighbor is a 5 minute walk in any direction, so its quiet and no cars driving by. No need to hide or stash anything. I have a little shooting range in the back, indoor garden, outdoor gardens, trees, a nice flat spot to do donuts in when it snows. I just go into town or invite some friends over when I want company - but most of them don't even come out here cause its so BFE.

I absolutely LOVE living alone. It is the greatest joy. After getting divorced I look forward to going home. No one to answer to. Just me and my 2 cats and they are interesting to talk to. I can invite people over or go to their place.

Living alone is heaven!

i lived alone for like 6 months after my first roomate moved in with his brother in college. we got along great, he was really neat and clean and responsible and everything, but he decided to buy a house with his brother or something. living alone was the best ever but i do pretty well with entertaining myself. its also nice being the one that controls everything in the house. the lay out and arrangement, the furniture, you know all the dishes are yours, you only have to clean up after yourself, you can have the temperature at whatever you want and you can basically just do whatever you want. then a new guy that moved in was a slob, stole my food, never bathed, etc. it was a nightmare, but thankfully it only lasted like 4 months. then i lived with 3 of my good friends from high school and it was a lot of ups and downs, but mostly ups and i would probably do it again, because you know you can get in a fight with the person and be cool the next day. right now at age 22 i think i am at the point in my life where i want to move away from the slobness and have nice things and a nice living environment, but one of my roomates who is two years older than me still chooses to live like a slob and i can't stand it. i'm getting a place in june with just me, my girlfriend that i currently live with and our dog and its going to be awesome.

I always hated living alone... I would always want to live with a gf or atleast a roommate for the longest time... Though recently I've been coming around to the other side and can see why people would want to live alone... I can sit at the apartment, in the buff, smoking weed, drinking alcohol, listening to music, and play the air guitar.

Dont know what the hell was wrong with me before.

So true. Don't live with friends if you want to remain friends.

The best time of my life was when I lived alone in a 250 dollar/mo. studio in the ghetto and I now live in a real nice place with my girlfriend.

I live alone and recommend it if you need *any* privacy. I am in college and my circle of friends really really enjoys to get down. I used to live with them and we would have parties galore with some very very heavy drinking. My GPA went down, i was always drunk. Also, when it is 3am and the party is still thumpin, you will love the fact that your house is empty and quiet.

I've lived in 4 apartments, and each one was a different 'classic roommate scenario'

1- i lived with 3 other roommates who were friends
2- i lived with my girlfriend
3- i lived with a total stranger i met on craigslist (disaster)
4- i live alone in a studio apt (currently)

Hands down alone is the way to go. You know the little annoyances roommates bring? Owing you money, being overly clean/not clean enough, bitching at you for petty shit, eating your food etc.. imagine having to deal with literally none of
those things. Its truly sublime to live alone if you can afford it. I'm a big believer in the importance of accepting being alone, and learning to 'make friends with yourself', because if shit ever goes down, you're all you have to depend on anyway. Living alone is awesome.. i dont think i'd ever live with a roommate again.

Oh god, I live on my own and I always will. I used to live with roomates a few times and I hated it. Sometimes I wanted to kill them, literally. I lived in one basment suite, 2 bedroom, with another fellow. I was working at the time and he was a amatuer thief at the time :p sad, I know, anyways, I'd have to work at 8am, and here they would come back to our place at 2 or 3am, pissed drunk, tripped out on who knows what, making noise and waking me up. By waking me up, they would come in room and wake me up yelling, "have a drink, come on!." One times when I was sleeping, they were smoking weed, and they took a long straw, took a hoot, and blew smoke out the straw that led right to my nose, so I inhaled it. Bastards!

Anyways, for the last few years I've been on my own. I know, it would cheaper living with a few more people, but fuck that shit! If I can get by without roomates, I will, and right now, I am.

Lol, getting stoned while you sleep. That's pretty funny, although shouting at you to havea drink while your trying to sleep is pretty fucked. I would have lost my temper with that kind of annoyance.

I think if you live with the right people it can be cool, it can be a living nightmare though. I think I would get a bit lonely living on my own, not sure never done it.
