hmmm....i know where crows liquor store is in b-ville, next to the bait shop....right down from good ole BHS. not sure if that is the tackle shop or not. living in the midlands now, far removed from the pee dee area. i still visit b-ville from time to time, may even go to the silver moon to relive old memories, heh. been smoke free for a long while, not sure if i'll ever be an herbivore again...possibly when i retire! a man can still dream though!

hey latewood....i'm quite sure we know each other. pop quiz time......who lived out near southern oaks, drove an old ford truck painted up in camo, was a grizzly adams looking sort and died a few years ago? famous grower of the ragtown variety he was.

question two....what happened at the marlboro county airport in 1977 or so?

question three......what is the name of the dirt road off 15-401 that runs to firetower road? it is right across from the old tri-county mental health center/coachman and four restaurant/new release disco building.

jayrollin gets the square!! the dirt road is bigfoot road. i sure do miss the old stripman (rowe). he told me his bigfoot story once.....what a character. spent many an afternoon out there with him and patty, always walked away with a fat sack of homegrown tomatoes and the greeny green. well, not always...sometimes he'd have nothing but shade leaves and we'd pass on that. anyway, those were good times and even better days as i had the hookup on that nice afghan as well. i used to hang with rowe's nephew when he had that cool little store down near crooked creek and that afghan made for some interesting jam sessions on the front porch. good times!

i was a kid when the DC-3 full of mexi shwag landed. me and a buddy went in the plane while it was parked on the tarmac and pretended to fly it. his grandpa was the overseer of the airport so we had the run of the mill around there. i always heard stories that Gypsy (remember him?) went into it and got a nice David Clark headphone set out of it. i can recall, as a seventh grader, of people speaking almost reverently of Gypsy's guitar playing talent. those stories were always recanted at a cabin up in the sandhills where my bandmates lived along with stories of Fireball and what went on in the "chuck foley compound"! one of these days i'm gonna finish writing my book about marlboro counterculture and all the tall tales associated with the 1970's-1980's crowd of wild asses!

those type books sell too. I ahd a friend write /compile a list of the "local" old cronies. It was a big hit. I thought of doing a similar project on my area, but I am afraid I might not be able to include all without moving to south americ
