I am under 18 but I smoke cigarettes and I don't want my familly to find out, so I usually buy about 2-3 packs at a time and put them under my mattress, but, I have to walk a pretty good ways to get them and it is really cold right now where I live, so I was thinking about buying by the carton since it is cheaper in the long run and I won't have to go out as often, but, I don't know how I could hide an entire carton, especailly while I am walking home... because I couldn't fit a carton in my pockets so people would see it. any ideas? thanks

sorry dude, but personally, (i've been a pack a day smoker since the age alot are still wetting the bed, 8-9 years old, i'm 21 now) i just don't feel right offering help to support the habbit... i'm not gonna down anyone for doing it... but it's a really bad habbit to start.. you should quit if you can, while you're ahead...

Dude, I've been smoking for almost six months and I can say that I am not addicted at all. I take about a one week break once a month to be sure, and I have zero withdrawl symptoms or cravings. I smoke because I want to, not because I am "adicted" which I seem to think is just some people's excuse for why they don't stop smoking.
Oh and I just had to add that to my sig ;)

just saying dude, it's a terrible habbit to start, shoudl quit while you're ahead, i can't say whether you're addicted or not, only you are qualified to make that choice... just stay on top of it... it's not exactly a pretty or glamorous road to go down.. waste all your money, don't even get high or and elated feeling from it... bleh... i'll quit 'bothering' you with it... in the end it's always your choice... just make sure you stay on top of it, for years later you'll end up like me, regretting you ever started in the first place.

ok so right now you smoke because you want to but eventually you will smoke because you have to.
honestly if you can quit now then its a really good idea, just stick to weed, maybe roll your joints with a 50.50 tobacco and weed ratio if you do honestly like it that much.
and anyway if you were going to buy in cartons then i would suggest hiding them down your trousers (behind your belt bit so there half down your trousers half under your top) and then putting them in your pillowcase, thats providing your mum dosn't change your bed.
or just put in a box thats shes 100% not going to look in like old games ect..
i would seriously concider not smoking if i was you, one day you will become another one of the goverments 'smoking soldiers'

But wouldn't they bulge out? People would either think I was really, really horny... or they would know that I was hiding something there.

btw, just becuase i don't want to come off as the ass who offered nothing... i'll tell you this much.. wear a hoody, to get by walking in the streets with it, from then on, put the shit on a window sill (or if you can leave it open through your window) never have to actually walk in the house carrying anything.... but that's for hiding very large ammounts of weed ;) (shh it's for my own conscience)

wow
actually, that's a pretty damn funny (but true) statment... lol.......
Exactly what i mean. Anyone who thinks that it's just an excuse is living in a kiddie dream world... Cos that's NOT reality.
People who think like that dont do well in this world.
But thats definatly top of the list for childish ignorant comments, untill someone else comes along with another post that fell out of their arse.

c'mon lip ease up... he obviously doesn't know yet... intervention may be the best tool.. but turning someone into a 'tool' isn't the best medicine... know what i mean? you can't outlaw them for it... you can only hope they listen to the wisdom you offer.. i've been smoking for 15 years now..... about 3/4 of my ENTIRE (not just adult) life..... just ease up a bit.. you never 'win' anything by force...

yeah, but c'mon man, i understand your reasoning, of course addiction is real, i know that, you know that, hell anyone that's been smoking cigs for more than a year pretty much knows that... but like i said, you'll never actually win anything by force, especially about something like this... if anything, you're getting yourself worked up over nothing....

LOL! Well, I know how those moods can be. For some reason, I have a little dog on my hands this morning who seems to be in the same mood. If I look at her, she growls. If a cat walks by, she growls. The sun is shining? She's growling. We all have these days. Happy new year, LIP! I'm so proud of you for not being a cigarette smoker anymore!

Thankyou very much. Happy to year to you too, and everyone else on the boards that belives addiction is real... lol.
Yeah, for some reason it really got to me, i went through shit [and it was nothing compared to some people] but i went through hell trying to quit cigs, and you know how stressed i was and for someone to come along and think addiction isnt real... that pissed me off.
All i can say is i'd like to see the person who said it quit cigs after smoking them for more years than i care to remember.
When you get the cravings that bad and the withdrwal symtoms you cant argue that addiction is something VERY real.
That's all. And as i said, im in a shit mood today anyway, i feel like shit at the mo, probably because im smoking this fucking horrible sativa and i hate it, it's doing nothing for my knee and head aches so im just feeling shit today.
heh no questioning addictions real... its wen ppl say its a disease (sp?) thats bullshit... thens that making an excuse, its not as if u catch it... its ur own fault if u get addicted :p

well, hope you get ahold of some nice strong indica soon! i know headaches/backaches very well... and yes, they can put you in a far shittier mood then most anything else... i also understand the frustration of trying to quit tobacco..cigs... probably more so then the 'average' person does.. i've actually been trying to quit, and stay quit for over 5 years now... just remember, the people who matter, know your frustrations, on more than one point.... ;)

You've been smoking only six months my friend. Of course you're not addicted, yet. ;) Cigg. addiction is real, and 6months of smoking, of course you won't have terrible cravings, but keep it up man, you'll get hooked soon.
I smoked for 7yrs and it took me multiple times to quit. Just think about it, you are paying the government big money, to kill you, in return the ciggs. you get nothing enjoyable in return.
It also blows my mind that you want to smoke. Pull your head out of your bum, you do not want to start. Of course if you want to die of painful cancer, but hey, that won't happen to you, right? 50% of all smokers will die of heart failure or cancer, due to smoking. That is 1 in 2 smokers. think
I guess I was a silly teenager once too. Thought I'd never get addicted or if I do it every once in awhile, it's not that bad. I also remeber how cool I thought I looked. Once I got older and quit ciggs., I see the word STUPID written across the foreheads of people who smoke. Not to mention how awful they smell. It is a chick repelant bro, trust me. ;) Have you ever kissed a smoker? You might as well lick out an ashtray, same thing.
All in all, smoking is not something you want to start, and yes, eventually you will get addicted. Have fun supporting your government who could care less about you. Have fun wasting all your money on, nothing.
^^^
theres an exception to this kissing thing :p
my gf smoked cherry flavoured cigs and it tasted kinda nice
but dont smoke anyway!!! :p

somtimes, not even that's true... believe it or not, i was forced to start smoking cigs.... along with quite a few of my friends.... in hopes the older kids would get us addicted and be able to turn profits off it... like you always hear about from those school-drug programs... how people do, try to get you addicted, then use you to turn profits off something... what, you think i actually willingly picked up a cigarette at 6 years old? hell no, i was forced, i'm sorry... but i was scared of getting my ass beat... by the time i was of age to even fight back, it was too late..

damn
thats sick
I started when i was 7, of my own accord. At first i started to look cool like my dad, by the time i was 10 i'd already realised it wasnt cool, it wasnt fun, it was an addiction.
I only recently gave up, i was on 40 a day, not to mention the albeit small amount of tobacco i used in my joints.
When i quit it was probably one of the hardest things i've done, i was so stressed i was shouting at nothing, hitting walls, i was shacking, the lot. I seriously thought i was going to have a stroke, and i very well could have.
Never start smoking, it's a horrible habbit, and anyone who has done it and quit will say the same.
Tobacco is evil, same as heroin or crack or meth.
No good comes from it, just bad.
Why would ANYONE want to start smoking these days, when we know there is over 69 cancer causing chemicals in it, probably more, not to mention what it does to your lungs and throat.
The best advice anyone can ever give is dont start.

You can hid the cigs...... but you cant hide the smell.
I can smeel a smoker from like 20 feet.....
I would just shower before i came home....LOL

lol dude, you can still tell you're not over it.. i mean just look how irritable you over this thread... although you have good reason to be irritated over the statment... you can still tell you've recently just quit... i just hope youc an stay strong, cuz i know when i start sounding like that, it's not long before i turn back to smoking... i actually did good the last time.. the only thing that sent me back to smoking was the hour or so long ride up to the hopsital my wife was life-flighted (flown by helicopter, for anyoen who doesn't know) after she was hit by a car.. i was freaking the fuck out... i didn't know what to expect when i got there.... as of today, offically, there is a 1.00$ extra tax on all cigarettes/tobacco in the states... that's quite a bit more extra motovation to quit... i'm finishing up my last carton now.. and hopefully, with a little strength, practice (that i've had numerous times) and support.. i'll be able to kick them for good... atleast, lets hope so.
and shoi, yeah it is pretty sick... if i could go back in time, i'd probably super glue their ass cheeks to the junior high flag pole... on wednesday morning (just to make sure the most possible people are there, alot skip mondays, and a few more skip tuesdays.. lol) and i mean with them butt ass naked.... but hell, they deserve(d) it...

You can do it slip.....
I had a bad coke problem....it took me many times to quit. I did it, you can too.
Good luck
i think i am done smoking now...
but i assume you know the addictive potential and cancer risk, so being told the same shit for the hundredth time is probably not what you came for.
but my advice to you is toss the carton in your back pack

People have trouble quitting because NICOTINE IS A SERIOUS FUCKING ADDICTION.
Now, if you were joking, I'm sorry. I get the feeling you're not, though, and that terrifies and depresses me.
If that's what you think about nicotine addiction, then that means you REALLY need to stop with the cigs. Holy fuck.

First of all i beleive the majority of this thread has turned into a flame session. The is completely non productive and you all should realize that. And to you kid: first off-nicotine is physically addictive (its science man im sorry you dont beleive it) and secondly your the one that has to die when its time for you to die so...id say put them in your backpack. If I were you id just stick to the sweet leaf...cigs dont get you high

las of today, offically, there is a 1.00$ extra tax on all cigarettes/tobacco in the states...
are you serius?? that sucks ass! But Uncle Sam can't trick me into stoping something I enjoy like that.
To everyone who got offended by my statement that nicotine is not adictive:
I am sorry, I did not mean to offend you, it is simply my opinion, and you may have another opinion and I respect that. However, I do have reasons to back my opinion: my great grandmother was a pack a day smoker untill she was 80 years old, when one day she just decided to stop, she had zero withdrawl symptoms and never craved a cigarette, she now says that she absolutuly hates the smell of cigarettes and could never imagine herself ever smoking again. She is now around 87 and is very healthy and indeed she hasn't smoked at all since then.
I have no intention of arguing, I was simply making a statement. If somone tries to argue with me don't expect a response.

It's easy to take a break when you know that you'll be back on them after the week is over.
If you're not addicted, then why do you smoke? Are your lungs too powerful and you want to make them less capacious?
IS there too little carbon monoxide in your bloodstream, so you wanna increase it?
Do you think it's COOL to smoke cigarettes? please tell me this isn't the reason?!!!
What is the REAL reason you smoke? And don't tell me it's coz you enjoy it. If this is the reason, then you would be classed as someone who is into self harm...cigarettes are full of all sorts of shit and can cause all sorts of shit in your body, so the argument that you enjoy it does NOT stand up. Enjoyment is something that is good for you, NOT something that slowly poisons you.
Here's a challenge: Go TWO whole months without cigarettes OR any form of nicotine...joints, rollies, pipes, sachets, ANY form of nicotine.
The money you don't spend, buy some weed and call me over for a toke! :rasta:

P.S. If your grandma wasn't addicted to Nicotine, was she smoking to collect points of some sort? Just coz she gave up in a snap, doesn't mean she wasn't addicted.
Having an opinion is one thing. Disputing scientifically proven stuff is just dumb. Kinda like saying, the earth is flat and I don't care what you all say, it's my opinion and i'm sticking with it. DUH!!! :)

I can't even read all of this thread because the sheer ignorance is mind blowing. Ask anyone you've every know except your granny and they'll all tell you the same thing, don't start. You might not be accicted yet, but you will be. Your granny made that shit up son, she was prolly just too old to realize it. I hope your mom and daddy catch you with a carton and string you up by your toes. Shake some sense into ya.
Give it a week or two more and i'll be back to my old ways... just insulting people every now and again, not in every post.
THIS is what smoking does to you. Im lucky that i've quit, even if it has made me more angry... But meh, my anger doesnt make any differnce to me, only the people who take it to heart.

1 more day CC, nicotien (and phsycial withdrawl) only lasts 3 days (72 hours) after that, it's all mental/emotional.. it's not an easy road, take it from me.. i know what it is to quit cigs (i've had 2 attempts last a month or more) i still found myself even weeks afterwards, grabbing my pack of cigarettes and lighting something.. and it was all in my head... i'd literally make the motion and then after doing it all, would i realize "i quit a while back, wtf" ... basicly, in short terms i'd grab my pack of cigs and light one, and realize after i didn't get any smoke, that there was nothing in my hands... hope that makes sense, i am kinda drunk... lol.... my grandma still says sometimes she gets strong cravings for cigs... it's been atleast 5 years now... my personal belief on the subject is you never actually quit getting cravings for them... so anyone who quits (or starts for that matter should they ever quit) is you better be ready to turn it down and run from it for the rest of you life...
like i said earlier in the post, it's not a road you wanna go down, no one should ever pick up smoking, becasue when you do (and it will happen) try to quit, you'll be running from that choice you made so many years before.. the only problem is... most don't realize what i'm saying until i'ts too late... you say 'oh i'm not or won't get addicted' but that's bullshit, and you'll learn it one way or another... just do yourself a favor, and take my (and our) word for it... stop while you're ahead, before it's too late... becasue it literally is a life and death decision..
edit: i just realized something... cigarettes are the legal crack... any addicted cigarette smoking person, would do alot of things that someone who isn't addicted would... may not go to the severe lengths some would for crack.. but still.. that level of addiction is there.

my grandma smoked for about 20 years, she was addicted and she just up and quit one day as well.... some people just have stronger will power, and the ability to say 'no more' and have no problems with it... that doesn't mean they weren't addicted...
Your assessment is wrong... Sopping smoking was with out Doubt "The Hardest Fucking Thing I ever Did In My Entire Fucking Life" and I'll Say this again...
I knew a casual smoker,,,I was married to it,,,so I have proof that the addiction is not real for at least one person... I swear she had packs of Paliments with 19 stale ciggs in the pack... she smoked like this for the 6 years I knew her...
Why is there such a wide spectrum of addiction??? 10 cigs a day to 4½ packs a day like I was??? were does the spectrum stop??? we are all chemically different and chemicals effect us in different ways...

skink, dude, i think you misread my post... i'm not sure what, but i'm sure you did, cuz i'm on your side, i've tried to quit over 20 times so far, and still failed everytime (seems liek your post is saying quitting smoking is the hardest thing ever, which of all my epxeriences, it has been) all i was really getting at, in the post is that some people have greater will power then others, my grandma included... and it's true, she does have ALOT of will power.... she's one of those people, that as soon as her mind is made, IT WILL HAPPEN, doesn't matter what it is... her will power is so strong, that if she decided she wanted to be president, i garuntee within a few years, you'd see her signing bills in the white house.... not sure who you say 'my assesment' is wrong, but please, for my own conscience, tell me what you meant so i have the chance to explain myself further.. there are quite a few people i don't want to 'dissapoint' so to speak, on this board, and you're one of the few....

there is no magic solution when your addicted,it's gonna be tough but well worth the battle...
My Mom was the willpower one too,,,she upped and quit a 20 year Pall Mall habit just like that one day... I understand what you are saying about your Grandmom,,,god bless her and,,, seek her wisdom...

"People who smoke cigarettes say "Man, you don't know how hard it is to quit smoking" Yes I do, it's as hard as it is to start flossing. "You seem jittery" Yeah, I'm about to floss"
-Mitch Hedberg
Honestly, I just think cigarette smoking is a bad habit because of how much money it costs to keep the habit.
My two cents.

OK having No problems with quitting does not constitute addiction in my eyes,,,there had to be some problem some where if it was addiction...
Well, they obviously didnt want to quit for 20 years, that's addiction. Addendum: Just got me one of those big boxes of nicotine gum, wish me luck this time!

oh well, i guess i that's just seeing things diffrently, she had no problem putting them down, doesn't mean she didn't want to smoke one, or get the craving to.... to me having a problem putting them down, means you end up breaking your 'quitness' a couple of times... just a play on words i guess :p

I didn't want to start an argument like this and I don't intend to contribute to it, so even though I have millions of arguments against what you are saying I think it is best that we agree to disagree, I am not going to make any more posts in this thread, and if a mod would like to lock it please do.

OK...I wanted to refrain from explaining my experience with cigarettes for the sake of not starting another arguement...so I'm gonna try to phrase it as more of a 'what do you guys think'....instead of a 'I am immune to nicotine addiction' kinda thing.
I know it's the most addictive thing in the world...I know, I know, my mother and aunt have been smoking for like 25 years and have tried many methods of quitting and just haven't succeeded..yet.
Anyway...long story short I always hated butts...then one time when I was drunk, I had a few. This was about 6 years ago. Since then..about 75% of the time I drink, I usually have a few cigarettes. Some weekends I'll buy a pack for the night (I hate Marbs, I prefer Newports for some reason..they are smooth to me and don't leave such a nasty taste).
Funny thing is...I've never fiended for or ever wanted a cigarette when sober (I will smoke a butt if I'm bored and a friend is smoking, but I'll never go buy a pack unless drinking or doing specific 'upper type' substances [rare nowadays]....)
It's weird too, cuz a lot of my friends are this way too (of course some of my friends are everyday smokers too)....just smoke on the weekends...BUT...some of my friends turned into everyday smokers doing this. Not me though. I know it's hard for people not to say 'Just wait..you'll see"...Well, I've been waiting for years, it's just not going to happen. I am at the point where I can honestly make the claim I will never be an everyday smoker. Maybe it's because I've seen family struggle with the addiction? Maybe I'm addicted...but only when alcohol is present? Anyone else experience this time of 'recreational' use of cigarettes? What do you guys think....I know it's weird...but it's true, you just have to take my word.
I know I'm gonna get some shit for this...but there's really nothing else to say...that's the jist of it. "You'll see Mac, you'll see...just watch you fuckin idiot...you'll be smoking a pack a day before you know it." LOL..just so you guys don't gotta say it.
All joking aside...I know it's more addictive than herion to most people. Actually I'm pretty weird with substances...marijuana has always been kind of 'habitual' to me..but I haven't smoked in like a month..but when I do again, I'll probably go on a month binge everyday (then a few weeks off and repeat..I'm weird like that). White stuff doesn't really phase me...only on the weekends a few times a year...caffiene don't do shit for me...I drink like a cup of coffee maybe twice a week in the morning. Alcohol is only used in party situations. So what the fuck is wrong with me? I think because I've already gone through being 'addicted' to weed when I was younger that I have trained myself to handle things rather well.
OK...start yelling at me hahah.

If it's when your drunk it may be that you've associated smoking with drinking, something as little as that could be why... it's amazing whats in our subconcious. [is that even the right part of the brain lol.]
