Has anyone used the big rolls of coco matting in conjunction with a flood and drain system? I'd love to hear any opinions.

I haven't, but I read a grow the other day where the guy did. He used it under his coco slabs so that when the roots poked out under the slabs they went right into the matt so that they wouldn't have a chance to be exposed to light and to keep a little extra moisture in the tray. He says he uses it all the time now. He also said that there are two different sizes of thickness and he said that he uses the thinner because it worked just fine and was less expensive.
Hope this helps some.

From what I've gathered if you use a mat you're going to be able to cut your frequency of flooding down a little. The applications of a mat that I am aware of are more for plants that REALLY need a lot more moisture. Personally I would not go that route because it is unneccessary and doesn't allow you to move plants around in the tray to pick out dead vegetable matter or treat for pests. BUT I am not growing in hydro at the moment and do NOT consider my self close to an expert! lol! To me the number one thing is being able to keep your setup CLEAN.
