If PM's were open to everyone. This site would be shut down in a matter of months.

The reason places get shut down is because they are held responsible for the content of their website..

Having PM's disabled to everyone is a preventave measure.

We are preventing problems by not allowing people to private message anyone they want.

Besides.. this is a forum, not a private messaging system.

Bob.

ok i know the sticky thread about this was closed, but when reading it myself i believe i thought of a valid point about what has been said (Bob this isnt a go at you man, yours was just the best explanation there and i have a point to add) wether its a valid point is upto the mods i guess,, anyways....

what about people who are still "paying members", they can still pm can't they?

And if so how can u be sure u can "trust" them over any other "non-paying member"?....

i guess what i'm saying is you'd have to scrap everybody's paid memberships, or let everyone else use pm, its the only fair way to go about it. I say it's not fair cuz i would've paid for a membership myself, and i was infact planning to until the membership program went "tits up".

If the paid up members of this site can no longer pm anymore then i guess this thread was pointless.... but i just wanted to say my piece but couldnt in the thread itself cuz it is closed, that is all.

Peace.....

and be excellent to each other :)

I think there should be a correlation of the sorts between members and mod's about infractions and such. But that isn't really needed either.

As far as I know the PM's are only fully available to mod's and administration.

Cafe Members should only be able to PM other Cafe Members.

We simply have to trust them then, don't we...And they in turn can trust that all the PM's are archived on a server somewhere for that really rainy day.

Besides, how is that any different than doing it through MSN or AIM.

It's the "for everyone to see" thing that tends to be the problem.

sundance.

There is *NO* cafe membership at this time. Whichever cafe members are remaining are slowly expiring away their subscription. In all likelihood there will be no PMs for the subscription group for the future. Another reason is no PMs for general users is outside spam
