Thanks, Josh. Yeah, not everyone likes little dogs. I have a brother-in-law who absolutely hates them. He says they're yappy and calls them rats. But I think they're nice. I'd like a bigger dog sometime, like a Labrador retriever, perhaps, but big dogs always sense that I'm not the one in charge and get away with murder. I'm still learning how to be a dog "mistress," and after a lifetime of having only cats, it's not always easy.

Wow, Skink. Now I see Swirly in the background. Your Buddy is very charming. I love those brindle-colored tabbies with white chins. My longtime cat from childhood looked just like that. I'm so glad he returned on Christmas Eve.

I got one when I first had her and tried it, and it made her terribly unhappy. She prefers to be held or carried under my left arm, tucked up against my side. And when we go places like the pet store, she loves to ride in the cart and just look around. Lily is a better fit for a purse--about 7 pounds--but is too hyper and wiggly to be confined for very long into any sort of carrying case. If we go places together, she does better on a harness and leash, just walking. Really "prancing" is a better word for what she does.

Yeah, Plant, Flora and Josephine are just charming. I've seen their pictures before. And I love their names!

animals become a part of our lives,,,sux to lose them in 10 years or so but,,,that is part of the master plan...

Thank you BG. I was and will be again. Both litters I had I worked very closely with a breeder of goldens who has been at it for 30+ years. It was a good learning experience and once I have the time and resources again I would like to start back up.

Thanks birdgirl! Sugar Ray showed up in our front lawn one rainy November night two years ago, shortly after my cat of 17 years had passed away. He was a street-wise bruiser when he first showed up, but I have managed to love him into a state of marshmallow :)

That's so cute. Wish I could touch that head! My dog, Daisy (the beige one way up above), does the same thing. If you sit with her and look into her eyes and rub her ears and head and neck--and ideally if you talk very gently and sweetly to her as you're doing this--she begins making these funny, light snorting, grunting noises in her nose, throat and chest. It becomes continuous if there are no interruptions or distractions. We call it her "purring," but it's really more like low, soft pig snorts. I find it completely charming. I'm about to go hold her and see if I can get her to purr. . . .
